What sort of camera were you taking the selfies with? Someone else had the same problem and solved it by paying a professional photographer to take a picture with top of the range equipment.

Thanks for replying.

My nexus 6p. The quality is pretty good.  What was the thread title?

I have tried multiple times.

Every time it fails.

I've used several different selfies.  My real UK passport.

I am abroad.  I always log in by clicking the link in my email. Help?

Re: Taking money out of Bittrex

Thank you again everyone for your responses.

I am just trying to understand.

1) So I convert all my altcoins to one of the coins that Coinbase supports. I already have a Coinbase account. Can you tell me which one of the Coinbase supported coins has the lowest fees for this transaction and what would be the amount/percentage of the fee?

2) Can't I sell the coin (a supported coin) on Coinbase and then move the money from Coinbase to my bank?

You are correct on both.

Cheapest fees? I think it doesn't matter because Coinbase fees are the same percentage regardless of the coin. The only time it would matter for the mining fees. Make sure you check the withdrawal fee on bittrex. They are expensive for bitcoin, for example.

Have you managed to verify your account on bittrex? I can't verify and have 25% of all my wealth on there.

Re: Need A wallet that supports bitcoin cash and BGold

for bitcoin cash you can use Electron-cash [1] which is an SPV wallet (light wallet) and a fork of Electrum. it is easy to use but make sure to verify the downloaded file and preferably run it on a separate machine than your main which you have your bitcoin wallet. and if you have any bitcoin in the keys, it is best to spend them first before importing them in Electron.

as for bitcoin gold i don't see any wallets released by the team [2]. i have stopped following the development of BTG ever since i dumped my future coins. but it seems to me like they have not yet actually forked. you may need to wait more months.

Good to know. I have just ordered my first item. A D3, coming to my home in England. Which country did your receive your miner?

If anyone has experience with UK customs and import duty, it would be nice to hear.
Use the Forum Search for UK Customs/Duty, VAT etc. Been covered lots of times from s1 days on up (and from what I remember -- OUCH!). Perhaps Google it and let them do some of the sorting...

I did search. Didn't find what I need. Can you post a link to search results?

Bitmain international address change? Import tax to the UK?
by
sundriver
on 19/09/2017, 01:26:58 UTC
I ordered a tasty new bitmain miner and put my address because... I just did.

Now, bitmain say they don't change delivery address to another country, but they will change it to another address in the same country. Why is this? Any experience with changing bitmain delivery address, please share.

Also, any experience of import tax and duty into the UK would be great. The HMRC website is horrible.

Hi there,

Did you find any facility in UK for hosting miners?

Thanks

I might set one up outside Birmingham or perhaps even northern wales.  Some people have ordered mining hardware, and are not sure where to put it.

What have you got that you want hosted?

What is Bitmain? I haven't heard of it before and would like to know your experience with it.

Bitmain is the largest producer, supplier of mining equipment popular as antminer and are the largest miners with plenty of farms around china.

I just heard it, Can you give more information ?

I've had good luck ordering from Bitmain.  Always received a quality product with decent shipping costs.

coinado ran well for a year or so then shut down (no warning, or referral to newer service, afaik).

Did I miss some new service that took over from these?
wtf?

Re: [ANN] Cryptoportfolio.io Build diversified and more profitable portfolio
by
sundriver
on 19/07/2017, 13:12:51 UTC
I created a website that gives buy and sell signals on various cryptocurrencies to help compose a well diversified portfolio that periodically adapts to changes in recent market developpment.
The algorithm automatically recomposes the portfolio every Monday at 00:15 am UTC to adapt to the new dynamic of the market.
Each selected asset remains in the portfolio for 7 consecutive days. For some assets the position may be short to speculate on a fall in price during a bear market (at this time for example the portfolio n ° 1 is short for about 75%). All positions are open against Bitcoin.
The strategy used is a mix of trend following and Harry Markowitz's portfolio theory. To summarize, the algorithm establishes a quality score for each cryptocurrency, based on its recent performance, on its volatility and its correlation with a set of previously selected cryptocurrencies. I don't plan to disclose publicly the algo, I'm sure you'll understand.
The graph includes a backtest period from January 2015 to December 2016 and since the algorithm uses the market data in real time.
Return of a single position is converted in U.S. dollar in the table of portfolio structure.
To replicate a position, you must enter limit orders at the Monday opening price. There is therefore a 15-minute lag between the time the data is available (00:15 am) and the limit buy or sale price (00:00 am). It's the script execution time on a tiny Raspberry.
For the moment it works with the data of Poloniex but I plan to add other market places to take into account the most recent cryptocurrencies from the ICO fever.

Can you post a simplified explanation? How do we use it. what are the steps.

Re: what do you use to Buy Bitcoin with Fiat?
by

on 11/06/2017, 16:04:10 UTC
In our country, we can buy Bitcoin with Fiat thru convenience stores like 7-eleven, remittance centers, department stores, and banks. But as for me, I prefer to buy Bitcoins thru 7-eleven which is very convenient actually and very easy. There is a kiosk machine which you just enter the mobile number that is linked to your account and the amount then there is a receipt which you will give to the cashier and pay for it then look at your wallet and there it is.

That's very cool. What's the rate per bitcoin?  And which country is that?

Re: Which exchange to buy btc from the UK?
by

on 11/06/2017, 15:21:30 UTC
The fastest way to get Bitcoin instantly without ID is usually physical Bitcoin  ATMs, available in most cities.
The disadvantage is that often fees are high, rates not very good.
Where I live the next ATM is a 3minute walk from my home. I can get BTC this way within 20 minutes without ID. 24hours a day, 7days a week.

For UK see for example here: https://coinatmradar.com/country/225/bitcoin-atm-united-kingdom/

You're lucky. I need to take a bus to get to my nearest ATM. I have been using the ATMs exclusively to turn my £fiat into BTC.

Is there at least an exchange that won't take days to buy Bitcoin?!

Coinbase are in mainland Europe and bank transfers are horrible from the UK to there. And I got screwed on the exchange rate both ways.

What's the best way to turn fiat into BTC?

Bonus points if any of the following:

    it's very fast

    doesn't require ID

is well explained on the website

Please state which criteria your favorite exchange features. And which other ones you've used and the successfulness.

Re: Explain the translation & signature rush
by
sundriver
on 10/06/2017, 10:20:03 UTC
translation and signature campaign helps both the newly-launch coin or project and the participants.
translation really helps to reach those non-english speakers to fully understand what is the project all abouts, it makes them easy to understand when they read the ANN on their own language, while signature campaign helps in promoting the project.
benefit for the participants is they get paid for their translation or for their participation on a campaign.

Thanks. I guess ANN = announcement. Are there any other popular forum abbrev. I should know about?
