Ledger Live

I heard that Chrome support for Ledger apps is going to discontinue.

So we are left with new Ledger Live.

Is there a 32-bit Windows version of Ledger Live?

If not what else can we do?

Thank you

EOS Mainnet tokens

In a previous post about EOS,  some friends here cautioned me against buying EOS . One suggestion was to wait until EOS mainnet tokens come out.

Has that happened?

I would like more opinions about buying EOS at this time.

Thank you

You can buy EOS from Exchanges now but it's better to wait if you follow EOS community and founder of EOS Daniel Larimer on Twitter than you must have got information about EOS technical flaws about its constitution arbitration and recently some accounts were freezed on EOS blockchain. They realised their mistake to give more powers to arbitrated and now they want to change constitution to make it more decentralised. All this thing's makes EOS mainnet failure and this can drop EOS price in upcoming day till their constitution 2.0 gets ready.

What do you people think about this?

I would strongly advise you not to buy eos now.
The problem is a technical one.

The EOS you see right now on coinmarketcap and on exchanges are not "real" eos tokens.
For their ico, they used the ethereum network so EOS is an erc 20 token.

Now, EOS has finally released their mainnet so the new eos tokens will be different.
You could register your erc20 eos tokens to be swapped over to the EOS mainnet ones but the registration period is over.
So that means, that the current circulating erc20 eos tokens on the exchanges are 100% speculation with no future value because they will have literally no use.

Instead, if you really do believe in eos, I would wait until EOS mainnet tokens come out.
Otherwise you could be stuck with a erc20 eos and can't do anything about it as the real eos starts to shoot up like crazy.

I am glad that just before buying i posted here. I am thankful for the advice

Knowledge about EOs

I am interested in buying some EOS.

However, I think buying it is different from buying BTC, ETH etc.

I have heard about registrations and so on.

How can I gather this knowledge?

Grateful for all help.

What operating system are you running and are the relevant drivers installed. I think in linux and mac you have to install your own drivers.

In windows search the start menu for deice manager. Which can be found by right clicking computer and hitting manage.

Edit: do tryninja's suggestion first.

Thanks for the idea. My machine has Windows 7 and as far as i know drivers are ok.

I changed the USB port as well.

I was also getting this yesterday all day. I restarted my computer, changed my USB port and it worked.

Can you try this out?

Thanks. I followed your suggestion but the problem is still there. Can I find a previous version of Electrum?

"NoneType object has no attribute 'handler' " when connecting Electrum to Ledger

I was in the process of  running the Electrum Installation wizard to connect a Ledger Nano S

After the Ledger Nano was detected I got : "NoneType object has no attribute 'handler' "

I retried by restarting Electrum, reconnecting the ledger etc but it did not work.

What to do?

I believe you have to set up your nano with electrum first so it can detect it...

https://support.ledgerwallet.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005161925-How-to-use-Electrum-with-your-Nano-S

I was in the process of configuring the Electrum by running the Electrum Installation wizard according to the tutorial above.

After the Ledger Nano was detected I got :
"NoneType object has no attribute 'handler' "

I retried by restarting Electrum, reconnecting the ledger etc. to no avail.

Any ideas?

I tried to download Electrum for windows but what I get is an .exe file.
It does not have provisions about Ledger, just setting up a wallet in Electrum etc.
I wonder what I am missing.

You do have to install Electrum in Windows first. You're supposed to create a wallet with it. After choosing the wallet type you wish to create, you are given the option to use a hardware device. You shouldn't run into any problems if you follow the step-by-step tutorial.

Thanks for pointing out, i have been dense. Now it is DK.

It only appears under Human interface devices after its unlocked by the PIN and the Bitcoin wallet selected (on the ledger device).

I am very grateful for saving my day. Now it is ok!

I could not find anything under Human interface devices either. The only entry there says "Usb input device"

Does a device with a yellow exclamation mark appear the moment you plug in and unlock(!) your nano s?

If yes, then remove this device from the device manager (right click -> uninstall device). The driver will be automatically installed the next time you plug it in (hopefully without any errors).

Or does a device appear which does NOT have a yellow exclamation mark? In this case the driver should be fine. May not be windows' fault in this case.

Or does nothing appear at all in your device manager when you plug it in? This may be caused by a wrong cable (power cable are not equal to data transfer cable) or a broken USB port.

Nothing appears under Human Interface devices.  The port I have tested and works ok. So maybe I should change the cable. But this cable worked with another computer.

Need some help. I want to move some BTC from a paper wallet to a Ledger Nano S.
I have only recently set the Ledger up so dont know whether I can directly do it.
Do I have to go to something like Electrum?
Replies are much appreciated

Be very careful if transfering high amounts.

1 - Reset your nano.
2 - Update the firmware.
3- Create a new PIN and set of words.
4- Download Electrum or Chrome Apps
5- Check the public address.
6- Reset your nano again (3 times incorrect PIN)
7- Insert your set of words and restore your wallet
8- Check if your public address is the same.
9- If the same, you are free to go.

Thank you for the reply.

So there seems to be danger in just accepting the given wallet address!
