I guess No, there will always be new projects coming up with new ICO/IEO, as long as bitcoin the mother of all altcoins is not dead, then there will always be new projects coming up.

Why comparing btc with eth? Bitcoin is the mother of all other coins which was the main reason for been ranked as the first on CMC. Aside this btc and eth has different usecase, no doubt both are good coins to hold as their future is great. Comparing btc with eth is just like wasting time because they are two different things.

You are on point, alot of traders lose their hard earn money due to waiting too long for pump before dumping, the best is to dump after small gain and move on.

Atall there is nothing you can do than to keep following the trend, altcoins dropping constantly is normal as there is nothing like stable price in cryptocurrency, my only advice for you is to trade wisely.

Is no longer news almost all defi projects are doing well, investors with good investment in defi would have cash out heavily because there are alot of pump this past weeks, and more to come. Defi project will surely make investors millionaires before the end of the year.
