I hope it stabilizes -- I was planning to sell something on the forums here but I decided to delete the post because the exchange rate was so unstable.

So wait, now that there are 3 servers with 3 separate hashing speeds, does that mean that the rewards variance is higher?

Or, in other words, is BTC Guild now 3 300 ghash/sec pools instead of one 900 one for rewards purposes? Yeah, I know it'll all even out in a week anyway but the difficulty increases about that often and I want to reduce my risk.

Rewards are combined between the 3 pool servers.  This is the exact same as running on a single large pool, I've just split it across multiple datacenters in order to provide members with the option to manually point to a closer server.

Ah, cool, thanks for answering.

Here are some pictures -- I used my scanner so you could get a better look. The front of the coin came out really dark for some reason though -- rest assured it is the exact same color as the back. I'll be on around 2 PM EST tomorrow afternoon; if you are interested in buying PM me around then.

I doubt they'll raid people that are mining or just use bitcoin occasionally for legal things, or make you surrender your bitcoins or anything like that. Here's what I bet will happen:

1. Dwolla will suspend MtGox's account from their service, possibly freeze bitcoin user's accounts.
2. MtGox will have its domain name seized by DHS.
3. MtGox will be put under pressure to be shut down completely.
4. Bitcoin price takes a dip triggering a sell-off (hopefully won't be too bad).

To be fair the EFF is a non-profit organization (made up of lawyers, no less) that has to follow strict legal and tax standards. Can you even imagine the tax paperwork for bitcoin? Even if they bought office supplies or something with the bitcoins instead of selling them on Mtgox, it still wouldn't be pretty.

I am no longer selling this item here due to the recent massive price volatility in BTC.

So like a seedbox, then? These services are fairly common, but I don't know of one that takes bitcoin.

I'd like to see a client that allows you to specify "backup" pools in case the one you are mining from goes down or runs out of work.

I'm personally worried that the BTC will see some downward pressure as difficulty increases. This is just speculation so take it with a grain of salt, but I'm sure that there are more than a few miners that will sell all their bitcoins they've accumulated as soon as it becomes unprofitable to mine.

Hopefully if this happens it will just be temporary dips, though.

Yeah, 2 generations back and not that exciting of a miner in this day and age, but I figured I'd list it here first in case anyone was interested.

Sapphire brand, 512 mb. Here are its full specs:
http://www1.sapphiretech.com/us/products/products_overview.php?gpid=245

It is used, and has worked completely fine the entire time I've had it.

Price on ebay is around 55$, but I'll let it go for 45$ in BTC and will cover US ground shipping (UPS). If you want faster service or international I'll cover the first 8$ of that, and you can cover the rest. Since I'm really new I assume you'll want to use an escrow like clearcoin -- I'm fine with this. I do have a decent amount of ebay feedback that I can share with you privately if you are interested in purchasing this.

Thanks!

If building a rig isn't profitable, would just upgrading a video card still be worth it?
