Hi, I'm genuinely interested in supporting this project and spreading the word – probably late here to reserve Russian translation already, but I see that there's more than one person willing to take on this task, so I thought 'why not!?’  Smiley

Native Russian speaker, EFSET Proficiency in English certified. Have worked for a 1 year+ as a copywriter, have passed multiple writing-related tests at Upwork, including very demanding UK English Proofreading (Oxford Guide to Style).

Whitepaper translation would be too much to take on, but willing to translate ANN (in a short time if necessary).

Good luck with the project, & feel free to get in touch via pm.

Cheers / Thx for your time!

I start to think it rubs me the wrong way, when all these projects are called Bitcoin something – can you imagine a situation in the real world, where a new sportwear brand is called Nike Barefoot, or new DIY furniture brand: IKEA Foolproof, – or say, a coffee shop named Starbucks Adamantium.... Grin Like, for real... What’s going on Huh

I think that if you gave me an incentive to use my crypto then i would use it..Maybe 10% off, or whatever you would have to pay in credit card transactions fees split that with me
Good point, I had some similar thoughts regarding incentivising use of bitcoin more. Ten percent may be unrealistic, but def consider cutting some slice. Like 3% for starters. Best of luck Wink

Thanks guys, that is the guidance I was needing.

Is EtherDelta the best place to get an idea of tokens' ongoing rate as well?

Or is there a better website/app?

Would it be possible to convert directly in your wallet, though, or should you always have to open some exchange website?

And does anyone maintain a list of proven, trustworthy & well-paying bounties?

ERC20 Quick Question
by
tOKENCITY
on 23/10/2017, 15:14:28 UTC
As someone looking forward to taking part in bounty campaigns, I've been wondering how easy it is to exchange altcoins.

Would it be true to say that all ERC20-based coins can be freely exchanged to ETH?

This is my main concern at this point, I wouldn't like to be paid in something I'll have to sit on for months, before it appears on exchange(s).

Pardon my noobie Q! Thx Roll Eyes

Thanks.

It seems a smarter move then is to wait for a BTC drop: buying at $4990, one would earn that $25 just by waiting for it to reach $5600 again.

And that without sharing private keys to anyone when claiming BT Gold, which probably is not the safest move that puts yourself at risk for a low profit.

I'll probably follow your advice: buying BTC at approx ATH is not the best thing one can do... For a higher profit, maybe, but not when 10% is "optimistic". Not worth it.

Will wait for a more favorable moment to buy then. Thank you again Cool

Do you guys think it's a bad idea to buy some Bitcoin before Oct, 25 to claim some free BT Gold?

If it is priced at about BCH (which many are sceptical about), it would give me, say, $20 worth free tokens on purchasing 0.044 ($250) of Bitcoin?

Not too bad, it seems.

Or not worth it?

BTG in my opinion is more important update than BCH: in particular for what it has to offer in preventing the mining monopoly that's been more or less of a concern with BTH lately. As such, I wouldn't think of $60 as accurate prediction: I'd expect it to cost in the ballpark of BCH, with a stretch goal of close to $1K in about three months (but that only if it starts at about $0.6K).

All in all, I think it may be better investment-wise than byproduct-coin of a previous fork. YMMV though! Smiley

is jcoin already release? if jcoin success, I think will many countries will follow japan step. I think option A is more suitable. Because crypto would be better to walk alone or independently.
Not yet. To be released before 2020.
Still possible for another country to take lead.

National Crypto: Decentralized or Not?
by

Wanted to talk about this interesting situation with more and more countries jumping in a crypto-train.

This far, sometimes there's not much info to speculate, but what do you think the general trend would be:

A) independent digital currency with its own ongoing value & exchange rate
B) a currency that is nothing more than a "crypto" version of a regular coin

I didn't do much investigation yet, so if you know of and can list some of the planned national cryptocurrencids that belong in the "A" list, that would be very interesting. At this point, all I know is that Jp's J-Coin rate will mirror that of their Yen, and finding this out today is what's inspired this thread.

In my opinion, "B" type digital currencies can not be deemed legit, in a way – as far as general idea behind cryptocurrency is considered. Decentralization is still the most important point, and when a central bank directly or indirectly has a control of token value.... it's getting closer to fiat than crypto.

Discuss!

Yes Palmerson, I've just looked through Fees page on uQuid website and it leaves much to desire. Sad

If someone knows which altcoin (or BTC) debit card provider is the best in this regard, info is much appreciated.

In particular I'd prefer no monthly fee if possible, and better withdrawal/get cash at ATM rates.

Hope someone knows of something better. Fingers crossed. Smiley

Thanks for the replies!

Added Proxy Card to my watchlist — will be following the project and see where it goes.

@Mike Mayor — sorry, it is hard to convey a thought on the Internet sometimes without being misunderstood. No, it's not a concept of a virtual reality or an experimental city (I'm not Elone Mask to take on such ambitious projects! Smiley). tOKENCITY is more of a cryptocurrency world newsfeed at this point. I find & share interesting news on my Twitter and look forward to writing more publications on my Medium. I just think it is a good name for something of this kind and was describing the inspiration behind coming with it. There's a chance I may have a website one day, for now Twitter is quite a good platform to keep finger on the pulse, so I'll be sticking to it for a while.

I hope I didn't disappoint you much I do not actually work on something you envision Smiley Thx for the interest, either way!

ETH Plastic Cards: Are These A Thing?
by
tOKENCITY
on 17/10/2017, 14:52:05 UTC
Good day,

one thing I've been wondering lately is, are there any plastic cards that make it possible to withdraw your ethers at ATMs worldwide?

At this point I've only stumbled upon Bitpay — which is exactly this sort of thing, but for bitcoin.

Feel free to suggest other eWallet/plastic card solutions (even BTC based) if you think some are particularly good.

I'd prefer to have a ETH plastic card if possible: less hassle with conversion.

But if nothing else, I'll probably go Bitpay.

Let me know what your experiences with services of this kind are.

Thanks! Cool

Re: Can we totally eliminate all the banks in this world?

What is the future of cryptocurrencies when all the government need to do is to close the bank accounts of businesses or exchange?

https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-businesses-face-bank-account-closures-in-singapore/

Under what legal rational can the U.S. government close my bitcoin business? They can't. Of course if you live under a tyrannical government then anything is possible. Singapore has a lot of crazy laws. Even chewing gum is illegal. But in the civilized world there is no way to do this. So let Singapore do what they will. It will only hurt them in the long run.
Kinda ironic given Vitalik resides in Singapore now. Hope he takes care & doesn't chew much gum. Roll Eyes

Here's an idea: banks will maybe catch on to the cryptocurrency trend, but would charge a fee for transactions & stuff.

Meaning, transfers within blockchain are not very expensive generally, but they would charge their percent on top.

I think that might be entirely possible, as there's a lot of folk who are too intidimated by the technology & can't get the hang of it.

The people to use it would be those who just can't figure the way to send payments themselves (e.g older people & like).

Re: Why Ethereum Is Not a Bubble
by
tOKENCITY
on 26/09/2017, 14:27:52 UTC
I agree with what you say Beerwizzard — as I state in the article, it's Ethereum that is backed by technology. Many of the ICO's within the platform indeed are not backed by anything, on the other hand them being bubble (or not) hardly affects the ETH rate, if only on the micro-scale. So I think you're right to a degree, but not so much re:Ethereum is a bubble because there are some bubbles within the platform. It's close to saying USD or EUR are not trustworthy, because these currencies are also used by scammers.
