Calling anyone a piece of sh*t - is not acceptable. There's hundreds on coins that have shot up
In the 2 years that it's taken block to get where it is today. There has been consistent development of the coin. There has been consistent updates on the block slack so anybody that wanted to buy block and have faith in it could have at anytime.

It's obvious the purpose of this thread is to try and discredit block in order to create fud so that more coins can be bought.

Please join the slack if you have any further legitimate questions.

Re: [XC][XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy Platform / Encrypted XChat / Pos

I want a simple explanation Smiley

Ok, there's layer 1: the Xnode protocol
- nodes communicate with one another using an end-to-end encrypted protocol, so that anyone who intercepts their messages can't decipher them.
- nodes communicate directly; they don't use any trusted third parties or central servers. Therefore there's no one point of failure or attack.

Layer 2: an ad hoc meshnet
- when you make a private payment, the first thing that happens is that your app sets up a network with a bunch of other nodes that are making payments at the same time as you.
- this network exists only for the duration of the transaction, and thus has no permanent infrastructure that can be attacked.
- since this network is a mesh, it does not encounter problems if nodes drop out of the network during the transaction. Thus it's robust against DOS attacks (i.e when a node refuses to sign, which breaks other technologies, like CoinJoin).

Layer 3: trustless mixing
- when you make a private payment, a transaction is built up between all the nodes in a meshnet.
- they pass the transaction around in a very clever way (analogous to Coinshuffle) in order to send coins to their intended destinations on behalf of other nodes.
- once the transaction is ready, each node checks that its own coins are going to the right destination, and if all is in order, the node signs the transaction.
- the signing is done in a very clever way so that no node knows which other node's coins they're forwarding.
- the coins are forwarded to their destination from a different address to the one that a forwarding node receives them on, so that there's no link on the blockchain between sender and receiver.
- if there's a problem then a node will refuse to sign. This makes the whole transaction unable to be processed, and thus no node can steal the coins that it's forwarding on behalf of another node.
- when this occurs, the nodes are able to reverse the passing-around procedure and discover which node caused the trouble. This node gets kicked off the mesh, and the transaction proceeds as per usual.

Layer 4: multipath
- when you make a private payment, the coins aren't sent in one go, but in fragments, making it impossible for anyone to tell how much you actually sent.

The ways in which all this is private:
- multipath conceals the amount you send or receive.
- mixing conceals the sender and the receiver.
- the trustless nature of the mixing ensures that nodes can't steal coins and that they can't know whose coins they're forwarding.
- the Xnode protocol ensures that nobody can decipher any of these messages in the first place.
- in addition, using the XC TOR Stick conceals your IP address.
- and, finally, when we add stealth addresses to XC, then when someone pays you, not even they will discover the address you receive the payment on, and so you don't have to trust them to keep private the address that your coins are on.

Basically, there's nothing else to make private after all this. The entire thing is concealed; none of your personal information is given away. So it's 100% privacy.

I am just requoting this as i feel some of you may have missed it with all the MintPal woes - a brilliant explanation of XC Privacy tech at the moment - well worth spending a few minutes to understand!

Mindblown!

is it possible for me to buy XCR on BTER right now?
Yes, but you will buy presale tokens, after Crypti launch you will receive your Crypti.

I'd like to know when we are getting our fully working Xnode anon system that we were promised, instead we got a mixer?

Hi Leigh

We're on Rev 2.45 already. Rev 2 tech has been working since 7/7/14.

To explain:

- Rev 2 is multipath

- Additionally it is multinode multipath, not just fragments sent to a single node for forwarding

- Trustless mixing is an improvement upon the "dynamic trust system" that was originally proposed. There's now no need to trust any nodes.

- Trustless mixing wasn't going to be a Rev 2 feature, but we included it anyway (under-promise, over-deliver, you know?)

- So you got multipath PLUS a trustless mixer.

- And, of course, trustless mixing is a world first.

So there's no question about waiting for working Xnodes. They've been here for a while.

In fact I've replied to you about three times about this already if I'm not mistaken. Sorry if you missed them.

Thank you for the update synechist, what may help is having a laymen explanation of all the amazing features of XC.

I have a feeling that for a lot of investors English is not their first language, also we have a lot of new investors who are trying to get a grip of all the terminology.

It would help to have a definition for each item. e.g.

multinode is .....

multipath is ....

trustless mixer is ......

dynamic trust system is ....

Xnode is ....

Thank you in advance!

I'd like to download and install the wallet but would like to see checksums at a minimum published by Dan first.

It's industry best practice to publish checksum / PGP sign off on wallet downloads, see Bitcoin Core:

https://bitcoin.org/bin/0.9.2.1/SHA256SUMS.asc

@TEKA
@SYNECHIST

Please could you address btcsql concern - I agree with him its standard practice and nearly all software uses checksum validation as a minimum (Nearly all Microsoft MSDN downloads use it).

It would definitely be in line with "secure private transactions"

I understand Dan is probably busy coding - and perhaps will be able to address this concern when he has some time.

I would hate that FUD is spread about this, when its something easy to resolve.

Thanks.

I'll do my best - oh and thanks for the complement. Way to go team!

ps - I'm going silent as I think the community would prefer that.  It's been a pleasure.

I wouldn't say you need to stay silent.. Just ease up on pushing for specific dates. We can all tell the team are working some serious overtime to deliver.

ATCSecure (Dan) how is your progress with Rev 2/mainnet and EM, are we expecting another release this evening or tomorrow as planned?

Progress is pretty good. You can expect to hear from Dan with a Rev 2 update before long.

EM is already finished for initial test, so we just have to release it around the end of the week. That's all sorted already.

Much appreciated for the update. By end of week do you mean by end of day tomorrow we should be able to test EM? That would be awesome.

We've been intentionally flexible about the date since we don't want to impact Rev 2's coming out. But you can count on it coming out around the end of the week.

Not really what I asked but hey I'll take it and understand where you're coming from. Look forward to it dude!

I think the team has already mentioned that "end of week" doesn't mean Friday.  It's more like by "end of week" which includes the weekend.   Let's not "hype" it so we have a new round of FUD again.  Wink

Seeking clarification resembles FUD. Talk about super sensitive. Get a life dude.

I think you need to get a life if all you constantly do is ask for dates of stuff....

What?? You weren't here for the flash crash because the delivery was late by a few mins?!?!

Sorry did you say something - ignore.

Let the count down begin until 7/7 officially ends in Eastern Time Zone - Boston Time!

Now less than 4 hrs away until DOOMS DAY

Down to the wire. Oh my.................... can we say nail biter!  We will see if they can pull this off.. not long now.. wowowowow!

My God enough already. I dont ignore people but you just went on it.

Thanks though u can't see this. LOL!

Ya... so you could do this again?   like calling it doomsday?  lol...

You were the one that started the doomsday countdown BS...

+1 agree

Flashbit you remind me of a friend I had who knew the exact amount of time till his next birthday, holiday, etc. Smiley

Please can you refrain from creating hard deadlines when the team have been forthcoming enough that it will be near the end of the week.

Site and video look fantastic and the news with Rev2 is very exciting good work.  I really think the video will help attract people to this coin.  I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I wish I could take more advantage and stack some xc at the current prices.

As much as I love this video, we are definitely gonna need a much more simplified one for normal folks at some point. If i showed that to any of my friends or family they wouldn't have a clue what it was about.

Yeah this video is more geared towards tech people, but I hear what you say, we will need a non-techy version down the road.

A laymans video that my mom or sister could understand and how it would make things easier for them. No credit card fees, ATM fees etc etc.

Actually I am really glad to hear these comments. This video was targeted toward the people who are currently in or at least aware of cryptocurrency. We need a simpler version that speaks to the average person in order to reach the masses. While the people in that market have not yet arrived, they are on the horizon and we plan on being there with the tools to reach them when they start to show up. We are currently looking at what that will take to produce.

Believe it or not we do have a developing plan!  Smiley

Brilliant Video - well done thrash. Is there a HD Version available on youtube?

Synechist and XC team, please, for the love of god, do not push any more releases without a PGP key signing off on them from atcsecure, as well as corresponding checksums. This is a community of generally tech-savvy individuals, and that kind of release scheme is never going to pass muster for people really into the technology.

Who thought it was a good idea to push an executable file for the big launch, on an obscure IP address? (well, obscure to anyone randomly looking -- although it appears to be the old web server for xc official)

Agreed. This was an exceptional circumstance; Dan hadn't slept in about 3 days and we just wanted to prove that trustless mixing is real.

The current release will very soon be replaced by an update. Checksums and PGP are no problem in future.

I understand the crunch-time circumstances, and my curiosity is certainly piqued by what Dan and you all are working on here. I wish you all well, and hope you take the PGP/checksum request to heart, as it will instill quite a bit more confidence in downloading the wallet client for more technically-oriented users.

See Mr SQL Wink A little patience - we have an awesome team that do take our concerns to heart and value our constructive feedback.

Agreed some things don't happen as we expect but what the team has achieved in such a short time is phenomenal.

I'd like to thank TEKA, DAN, SYNECHIST for all their hard work and effort - staying up nearly 24 hours is no small feat.

Hello all.

I don't post much on these forums, am a bit of a quiet man. But this is the first time I feel an urge to write and say something to a few of you on the internet. I have been around XC from the beginning, I am not a big/rich investor in cryptoworld, I only hold a few coins. I have seen and felt the pump to 0,005 and the dump after. I haven't sold any of my coins and I still haven't bought any new ones till this moment. Why? Let me tell you why.

I realise there are a lot of traders in this cryptoworld who are going to the advantages of these hypes before releases by pumping and dumping. I don't mind that, they're actually good from time to time so other people notice us. What I don't get are the people who are acting like little children when there is a minor and unclear obstacle on the road. By reading some of the comments on the past pages it feels like there was a catastrophic event. But there wasn't. The announcements we're maybe to much, but still.. Are we not making progress? Aren't we closer to our goal (XC goal) each day? People should stick together and take a breath.

NONE of us is going to get rich over night. You believe in something, buy it and hold it. There is a million coins out there, but is there truly a coin developed in such a short time with a better potential than XC? Developer, a public figure with clear intentions for the future? Maybe there is, but I ain't seeing it. If you can't believe the XC team (specially the dev), I don't know who you can in this cryptoworld. There are huge things coming up in the future with this coin/platform, and I want to be a part of it. Don't you?

My intentions with this little writing are not to pump/dump the price, I just had to clear my mind and I had to say a few words to ease people. I do believe the XC team are going to clear things up, but they are human beings and they can't be online 24/7 to answer all the questions and clear the situation. Let them be and let them do their work! If there was anything else I could do to help them out, I would but I am not a computer guy, I am an industrial engineer with a little love for tech inovations. But this writing is my best help.

Peace! -N

Thank you someone with some common sense and a cool head.

it would really help instill confidence in the coin if atsecure would sign off on releases (including file checksums) with his PGP key. Also, what's with the github? it seems it's wiped in between releases?

Come on dude i have read you say the same thing like 3 times - why dont you wait for the team to be awake and voice your concerns then - I am sure they will be addressed.
