A very disturbing trend is emerging in crypto world. Every time someone expresses doubt or worries about something there's a bunch of halfwits calling him out for spreading FUD. Basically they condemn every piece of information that deviates from their "everything is ok, oh look, an unicorn" fairiland. Fkn annoying. It's like living in stalinist country, lol.

System maintenance doesn't include trying recovering data in 3 different ways, and failing on first 2 attempts. Can't fkn believe how many people live in la la land and decive themselves by ignoring bad news every single day. If you would cut their hand off, they would probably go like: "I don't think anyone cut my hand off, it was a bit shorter than the other one from the start. Stop spreading FUD."

SEC hearing today and regulation: good news for the long run?
by

As I understand regulation is on the way for crypto. For hardcore "new age" cryptoheads wearing guy hawks masks and browsing dark web with their morning coffee, it's probably not a good news that the guys who faked moon landing and lied us about earth being round get their filthy hands on their precious crypto. For general public interested in crypto I think it's a good news tho.

Mostly because regulating it gives a definite signal that crypto is not a scam or a ponzi scheme with inherent value of 0 USD (as some retard "experts" are trying to convince us when spreading their verbal diarrhea). If it was, they would just ban it instead of regulating it, right? Regulation means gov accepts the fact that crypto is a thing and it's here to stay. Definitely good for long run and mass adoption.

Going through HUGE buy wall (7800USD), then bouncing back AFTER the wall is gone
by
tales_of_the_crypto

Honestly I feel like I'm just getting my ass handed to me every time I try to make a trade. I usually just hodl, but something I get the idea of making a profitable trade, maybe. So I read from several technical analysis that there's a huge support at 7800 USD. I take a look at Bitfinex and, indeed, there is 1600 BTC buy wall.

1600 BTC... thats like 12 million USD worth. Not peanuts. So I tell my brain - apply yourself! The result - I set a sell order below 7800 USD, to skip the drop that follows if this buy wall is broken, and then pick up some nice cheap BTC later at lower levels. Suddenly this huge buy wall starts diminishing, in like 30 secs it's all gone and my order is triggered. Oh boy, I tell myself, here we go. What's the next stop - 7000? 5000?

Guess what, it goes to like 1770 BTC and bounces right up to 8000USD? Seriously, how does that make any sense at all? People buying below huge support? Why. Can anyone enlighten me. Or is it just darkweb manipulation groups doing their thang?

Quick question from ETH noob here:

if I set a high GWEI at round 2 and it still bounces (arrives too late), will the tx-fee be refunded or will I pay 100 USD or so for nothing? Cheesy

Can you clarify this sentence from your medium announcement:

"The ETH price will be fixed at 1000 USD to mitigate price volatility risk and ensure that the necessary amount of funds to implement the project are raised."

What does that mean? 1 ETH is fixed to 8000 tokens, right? So how does USD price come in exactly?

Re: Exchanges (and people) need to stop using BTC as base currency

I need to bump this.

It's absolutely heart breaking to see how bitcoin takes nearly ALL cryptos with it whenever it decides to crash. Even worse, altcoins drop more, because people exchange them for bitcoin in order to be able to sell quickly if market hits certain level. The fact that great tech frontier projects like ethereum or cardano lose third of their market cap instantly because some official somewhere said something about bitcoin, is utterly disgusting.

One of the most frequent criticisms towards bitcoin is that it has no intrinsic value - this is a the main argument that nay-sayers keep bringing up when calling crypto a bubble or a scam that will end up in zero. Now, this argument doesn't hold true for ethereum or cardano, yet there's a great chance that if bitcoin would indeed crash to oblivion, it would take all other cryptocurrencies with it.

Seriously I hope this can be changed and will change soon.

Another one I love from the delusional people is how they say every coin is down today............I didn't know 30-40% of them being in the positive was "every coin negative". But after the wraith announcement, this coin has been slowly going down everyday. The sky is not blue. It's green cause you said it is.

actually after the wraith release, it jumped up.

when btc dropped, xvg has as well.

but i watch xvg all the time.

Wow, downright lies and selective memory right here. Verge community is starting to resemble a religious cult more and more. You have your parallel "truth" that differs a lot from the reality. Yes, it jumped up to 1500 sats... after dropping like a rock from 1700 sats, when wraith wasn't released on time. Everyone can just pull the graph and see for themselves.

Wraith was supposed to be the big thing that takes Verge rocket to the moon. Guess what, before Wraight release, on 31th of Dec the price touched 1785 sats and now it's 1037 sats. Volume has dwarfed what, maybe 10 times? What is supposed to be that magical bump that will take Verge to 1 usd now? All the cards are on table.

People keep saying "Verge will rise inevitably because it's a good coin". It is a good coin and already did rise, it has 2 billion USD market cap, which is huge. People keep asking "When moon?". Well, it's already there. It came from 1 sats to 1785 sats, if that's not the moon then I dont know what is....

Ether has its issues too, for example it's defenceless against crypto kittens. Then again Ethereum has more intrinsic value and thus better immunity against total meltdown.

Exchanges (and people) need to stop using BTC as base currency

Let's just face the facts, shall we (even BTC fans/bagholders)

BTC transfers are nerve wreckingly slow.
BTC transfers are disgustingly expensive.
BTC is at the mercy of chinese gigamines.
BTC experiences sudden enormous swings that appear out of the blue.

And every time BTC does "its thang", the altcoins move with it, since BTC is the most widely used base currency at crypto exchanges. This causes unnecessary stress for people who own coins that actually work as a means of payment or have some other intrinsic value.

BTC is a big old lazy animal, its only virtues are being the first and, consecuently, having no 1 market cap now. But that is changing. Just look at the BTC dominance number on Coinmarketcap. Used to be over 60% not too long ago, now it's 34%. And when BTC loses its no 1 status, what follows then? Likely a collapse, that could bring the whole crypto market down. We need to untie well functioning coins from this dinosaur so it wouldn't bring the whole crypto market down when it decides to die.

Why we are falling like a rolling stone?  Huh
It will only get worse, before we get better.

All Koreean markets' volume was excluded from coin market cap.

http://www.lolboom.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/STUPID-PEOPLE-STUPID-3okf15.jpg

The prices that were excluded for some coins were crypto/KRW. XVG wasn't listed in KRW anywhere. Love when retards so passionately call others stupid. Look at binance, XVG is falling even against BTC, even tho BTC itself is taking a huge tumble.

I am waiting for the big rise again.
I bought 100K Verge when they were less than 1 cent.
Than i sold a batch at 4 cent, 10 cent so i had sold about 50.000 coins than.
And than it really started to go of to 26 cents, but i did not sell.
Gread.
I speculated a bit with Neo coins and than i exchanged that again for Verge.
So now i am really waiting for the predictions of the people here.
1 dollar, 4 dollar, 40 dollar...
What's it going to be?
And how can someone know what it is going to be, it are not stocks, there is no company with a certain value or product.
It is just a matter of demand and supply.

GJ

I think xvg will cost around million usd by the end of the week because wraith just keeps cummin and cummin... Also I looked at the graph real hard and saw some triangles.
