Re: Bitcoin Windows gadget which displays BTC and currency amounts

Awesome gadget, thanks!

Is the feature of listing multiple wallet addresses (separated by |) still working? I tried with v4.4 with 5 addresses. Sometimes it seems to retrieve the balance in only the first address instead of their sum, and other times it just displays "N/A".

(Looking at Settings.js lines 185-186, the blockchainAddr setting gets saved as the |-separated list of addresses. I could not find any corresponding logic in MyBitcoins.js to split this list of addresses by | and query them separately; lines 502-504 seem to query it directly with the |-concatenated list of addresses.)

I will tip someone if they can help me find and setup in a pool that pays PPS.

Just go for Eclipse Mining Consortium: https://eclipsemc.com. The forum page is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=16385.0

I had made a comparison spreadsheet of the existing "good" PPS pools some time ago. EclipseMC is still the winner. http://1drv.ms/1cbd4Xa

1. GHash.io
...
3. PPS Huh

Pretty sure GHash.io is PPLNSG (Pay Per Last N Share Groups) at 0%, not PPS (Pay Per Share).

As for myself, I'm on EclipseMC because it offers PPS and I want the most stability / peace of mind I can get. But I do have GHash.io set up as a failover pool.

Ouch! All four servers overloaded according to the home page.

Web site showing 0GH/s on my workers, despite shares being accepted.  Anyone else seeing this?

Me too ... Repeatedly getting 0GH/s alerts on the "Miner Status" Android app.

Re: Is Bitscoins dead with this Mt. Goth Scandal?
by

This Mt.Gox fiasco is actually turning out in my favour. There are several escrow-based Bitcoin exchange sites (e.g. BitBargain, Localbitcoins, etc.) where many sellers set their asking prices based on the Mt.Gox exchange rate --- which has plummeted and has made it easy for me to buy Bitcoins at these places.

Obviously Mt.Gox-independent exchanges like BTC-e and BitStamp still have high and stable selling prices.

Arbitrage!

Hi,

Requesting new Bitcoin Pool add https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=481194.0

Pool:                    Coinminers
Website:               https://coinminers.co
Payout method:      PPS
Fee:                     1% (currently 0% for beta phase)
Pay Tx Reward:      Yes
Vardiff:                 16 to 1024
Local Work:           Stratum
Pay Orphans:         No
Min Withdrawal:     0.10
Merge Mining:        No

Thank you

I'll add you to the list - but before I do, are you sure you want to go with proportional reward? It's a bit dangerous for any pool. There are only two pools left doing proportional rewards and neither of them are doing well.

I think that I will change it to PPS .

PPS at 1% (where pool must credit miners as difficulty-1 shares are submitted, regardless of whether an actual block at current difficulty is found or not) is even riskier than Proportional or PPLNS[G] (where pool credits miners only when block is actually found at current difficulty).

That is the price only at Mt.Gox, for the very simple reason that people are unwilling to buy BTC there knowing they will be prevented by Mt.Gox from withdrawing it.

Prices are relatively OK in other exchanges.

Hi, really love this pool!  Smiley

Just one question -- the "PPS Rate" shown in the "More Stats" popup ... is that before or after subtracting the 5% pool fee?

I want payout stability, at least in the short term. Sorry but I'm just being selfish. Wink

PPS is the still the best payout scheme for this. Here's a comparison I made of currently-active PPS pools payouts. http://1drv.ms/1cbd4Xa

I head over to the Eclipse pool when Bitminter acts up.

I've moved to EclipseMC permanently, as it offers PPS so I get paid for my work whether it manages to make blocks or not. Smiley

Re: Internet connection downtimes - is it affect?
by
tanzislam
on 03/01/2014, 02:59:18 UTC
This may be happening because your Internet connection isn't fast enough to handle the high rate of share submissions. Two ways to improve this situation:

  • Make sure you use the Stratum protocol to connect to your pool over the Internet, and not the older, less-efficient "getwork" protocol. If your mining device does not support Stratum then run a Stratum proxy (bfgminer or mining_proxy) on your PC and point your mining device at it.
  • The pool you are mining in may have a setting to adjust the difficulty on your miner, or it may auto-adjust it (a.k.a. "vardiff"). Try increasing the difficulty for your mining device the rate of share submissions is decreased to a more manageable level.
