May we know how much RAM you got mate? I think you can put a tweak bitcoin.conf and add dbcache=, where n is your memory in MB. I'm not also sure if it has something to do with the speed of your internet. I guess its more of a CPU bound than Internet or Network bound. I synched before but it took me 3 days actually. You need a lot of patience to be able to download the full Bitcoin blockchain. Pruning is also another method to used, but based on my research you still need to download the whole blockchain to sync everything although it the whole 140 gig won't be install in your pc.
