[2014-08-26] North Carolina will treat bitcoin as monetary value
by

Governments and lawmakers across the world are racing to establish virtual currency regulations and guidelines under the guise of consumer protection. So far New York has taken the lead by proposing sweeping and heavy-handed legislation in the form of the NYDFS BitLicense proposal.

The North Carolina Commission of Banks (NCCOB), which is the primary state regulator for financial regulation in N.C., recently revealed that while it is working with government agencies and private stakeholders to establish regulations, their approach is different than the New York BitLicense model.

Re: Bitcoin was Made by the U.S Government
by
taylortyler
on 25/08/2014, 00:24:37 UTC

TOR is in part funded by a government owned entity.

firstly, the darkweb existed pre TOR. and yes the darkweb was a government creation and they used it to send data across the world to their secret agents and military. later TOR arrived as the public access.

again government inventions are used by government before public release.

I'm saying that the government simply realized that the USD could/would collapse on itself after a while(as shown by the recession in 2008 in America and more), and that the government used the codename, Satoshi Nakamoto(which is a very common name in Japan, similar to Europe's "John Smith"), to put Bitcoin out to the world.

pure theory no fact. FUD FUD FUD

It does make sense, considering according to a article I read a while back, only 300 people in the world could of created Bitcoin back in 2009. The NSA has the worlds smartest minds working for it, and with extensive reach. I find it very plausible that Satoshi Nakamoto is simply a codename for the Bitcoin project made by the government/branch of government. It's also very likely that Satoshi was more than one person, given his extensive use of the word "our". It also explains why Satoshi made it a top priority to Hide his tracks, so he wouldn't be found.

actually smart people are not automatically employed into NSA, the truth is smart people can earn alot more privately then they can on a government salary. to add to this NSA are not that smart, the fact is in the Ross ulbrich case, NSA needed to send a drive image(ISO) to the UK's GCHQ so that the british secret service could bruteforce the password.

It's either the person/people behind Satoshi Nakamoto worked for a branch of the government and made Bitcoin and released it to the world, or the person/people behind Satoshi Nakamoto is one hell of a genius who has extreme expertise in cryptography, which would make you question where he got his knowledge from(government, university?)

lastly you conspiracy theorists are obsessed with trying to link bitcoin to NSA... so let me burst the big bubble for you and then let you atleast theorize some FUD that may actually hold 1% weight.

if you researched 'satoshi' you would see that he has a british grammar and word pattern. so atleast theorize your fud to be more about UK's GCHQ.. not NSA Cheesy.

but your theory really failed when you think that smart people want and decide to work for NSA. really laughable thought process you lot have, especially with a largely evident lack of research to atleast try joining some straw to some actual evidence.

and satoshi was not the only person that helped make bitcoin. before the white paper. satoshi, hal finney, nick szabo, and another guy (with the last name that is something like wui(sorry i forgot his full name)) these were the 4 people who had code that built up bitcoin. but it was only satoshi that brought it all together into a white paper and started making version 0.1. but then hal finney popped back on the scene and satoshi, hal finney and a small group of people helped develop the first few versions, then gavin andressen joined in. jeff garzik, etc all joined in and helped out and then took over the reigns.. and today there are upto 100 different people working on the bitcoin code.

so dont presume satoshi done it all alone, he was just the smart one to pick a bit of code here, grab a theory there, tweak another idea over there, then bring it all together into the white paper.

TRY TO DO SOME RESEARCH NEXT TIME!!

I don't necessarily think that bitcoin was created by any government...I mean...it's possible but there's really no evidence indicating that it was. However, if I were Satoshi, I would throw some linguistic curve balls, like the british grammar/sentence structure, into my paper to even further secure my anonymity.

The newly formed Washington D.C.-based Chamber of Digital Commerce, which was formed in July to bridge the gap between virtual currencies and legislators, has been making some serious moves to help secure the respect and understanding Bitcoin deserves. They launched an ongoing petition asking for an extension on the BitLicense regulatory proposals, sent formal comments to Ben Lawsky and his NYDFS on Tuesday, and Wednesday they announced that the Digital Chamber is seeking participants for an inaugural Congressional Bitcoin Education Day.....

I never actually thought about there being paid agents here, but I guess it's very possible, but is bitcoin something they'd want to be spreading fud about at the moment? Maybe in the future it will become a problem to them.

The first HUGE wave of negative trolls came in June 2011, so when you see "Hero Member" there is no guarantee they are here for positive reasons.

Surely they didn't stick around and make a post every fortnight to become a Hero member. It's rare that you see a Troll Hero member as well.

That's not true. I'm a troll hero member trained by the best (love you Matt  Kiss). A quality troll is difficult to spot. They don't start threads saying "Bitcoin sucks" or "why Bitcoin will fail". You need to make people really think and actively engage them. Get some on your side then slap them all in the end.

I have this account and three socks that are all hero. I try to keep each sock in a separate section of the forum and keep them from overlapping. This account mainly posts to bitcoin discussion. If you see posts in other sections from this account it's usually because they were moved by a mod to the correct section after I posted. Bruno has 5-6 socks but I think Phinn and Al the Alpaca are the only Hero's.

What is your intent with your socks?

I sell them away from this forum. Selling them in the marketplace here kind of defeats the purpose. Are you in the market for one?
No but I'm curious as to how much they go for?
