A situation I don't know what to entitle

To whom is willing to help me,

I have 2 computers in the same room, picking up the same wireless signal, that both have the bitcoin-qt app running.  One is a new install, and the other is the original computer that has been off the bitcoin network for some time.  The new one (a MAC) is in the process of synching with the network.  The old one (a Toshiba with XP, and has coin on it) is saying that it is synching with the network, but the number of blocks isn't changing after almost an hour of running.  My question is: Is there a way of getting the coins from the old computer to the new one without trying to wrestle with making it catch up with the block count?

p.s.  As an observation, when I attempt to close the wallet on the Toshiba, the icon remains in the task bar as before.  But now, when I right click that icon, it no longer presents the menu that would previously allow me to close the wallet altogether.  And when I go to reset, or shutdown the computer, I get the message that the program did not close properly, warning me that I may lose unsaved data.

Who says that the reason for a government to exist is the protection of property?  From what I've learned, the reason for the existence of government is the protection of people from those people who seek to cause harm.  If people would come to the place of agreement that telling the truth resolves everything, while causing harm resolves nothing, then government would become obsolete.  Of course, those who take offense at the truth tend to interpret that as being harmed by it, and respond with harmful retaliation to the messenger.  This in turn not only justifies the existence of government, but creates the conditions for it to proliferate in the varying aspects of people's life.

I don't know if it was addressed in the video, but the end of Constitutional freedom started with the ratification of the 14th amendment.

No, I think I'd rather mock you for your stupid beliefs some more.

You're correct, this is a very serious and important issue. Millions of people suffer from mental illnesses, and your contention that their illnesses don't exist is borderline offensive. More importantly, the lack of recognition and treatment of these illnesses leads to tragedies like the Aurora theater shooting and the Connecticut school shooting. You are simply adding to the stigma that mental health treatment already has.

Basically, you are part of the problem.

He's not denying that the conditions exist. What he is denying is that they are illnesses. A more accurate term would be injury.

The distinction between an illness and an injury is very significant.  An injury is an effect of a cause which can be resolved by entering into another cause.  An illness is indicative of a condition which suggests that a person is a victim of such a state.  And it is this perceived state of victimization that organized healthcare, particularly the pharmaceutical companies, profits from.

Its most like the immune system to protect the important parts of society.. Unfortunately it's turned into one of those autoimmune systems (over active and attacks your own body by mistake)

Thanks.  This should be enough to set me on my way.  For the record, I'd be satisfied with the ability to mine coins for a cost that is less than purchasing them.  To me, the beauty of bitcoin is not so much in the prospect of making a profit, but in the decentralized aspect.  From my experience, the true value of a currency is not in it's exchange rate, but in the character of the people who own it.  With centralized currencies, the true owners are the cult leaders who runs the institutions of banking.

Can anyone recommend a source of instruction on how to build a mining rig?  I have some knowledge on the components that are required, but have never actually built my own computer before.  I would particularly need to know the process of installing the necessary software to integrate the components with the operating system, along with whatever mining software may be needed.

I first heard the word bitcoin on a recording of a casual conversation between Stacey Herbert and Max Keiser sometime back in November as I was doing my dishes.  I don't remember why the word came up, but I went to Google to check it out because it sounded like bittorrent.  At first, it seemed too good to be true, and didn't do anything with it.  Then a few days later, Max replayed an interview with Rick Falkvinge where he explained the whole concept.  From that point on, Bitcoin has been a permanent part of my life because of the potential it has.  Some of this potential is discussed in a video I put on YouTube called Bitcoin and the Third Wave.  I have a second video that I will more than likely post after I finish editing it.

I'm presently working on raising the funds needed for a mining rig.  Until then, I'm participating in a java based web mining pool at a site called bitcoinplus.com.

Overall, I like the idea.  One thing that seems beneficial to me would be if the theme of the song communicates the fact that Bitcoin is a force to be reckoned with in contrast to having the song be some kind of novelty, pop song, like Pac-Man Fever.  At the same time, it shouldn't go in the direction of force so that it comes across as a profanity filled gangsta rap song either.  It needs to be an anthem that will stick around forever like Freebird, or Stairway to Heaven.

I got news for you buckaroo, most Americans- and most people in general- don't give a shit about history.

For the record, I love history.  This may be due to the fact that my family history is documented in a book that covers the past 500 years.  It is a unique subject that demonstrates the cause and effect relationship as to how the issues of the present have come to pass.  This is why there is the quote which says that those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.  It has only been since the days of the French Revolution, and the advent of the uniformitarian worldview that people have embraced the idea that they are too intelligent to consider the past.  And that has spawned the quote: one thing that a man learns from studying history is that man learns nothing from history.  I almost feel sorry for such people.

Although I have read much of the wiki material, and probably know some of the answers subconsciously, I would appreciate some additional witnesses to the following questions:

1) I have the bitcoin client downloaded on 2 different computers.  How do I, if I can, use the same account on both of them?  For the record, I have only used one of the clients so far (to obtain, but not yet spend, coins), but prefer using the other one.  If I have to ditch one, can I transfer my coins to the other?

2) Suppose I need to do an OS recovery on my computer, and have to re-install the bitcoin client.  How do I recover the public and private keys, or are my coins lost?  For the record, I have downloaded the truecrypt program, so I can make a backup of my wallet on a thumb-drive.

3) How can I access my private key?  The only key I see in the client is the one in the receive coins page, which should be the public key, as private keys usually begin with a 5 (according to the wiki).
