We have a small update with some additional things to report before releasing the new wallet.
New exchange!
Swipp has now been listed on AltMarkets and is now officially listed on two exchanges. AltMarkets is a new exchange with an exceptionally dedicated team. You can visit the Swipp market directly on https://altmarkets.cc/market/BTC-SWIPP. We hope that everybody from the community will register with them and start trading.
Explorer updates
The explorer now keeps track of certain wallets and addresses. We have specifically tagged addresses holding funds related to CoinsMarkets and the premine of the original author. We will expand this functionality further with future updates, listing collections and wallets that belong to certain holders and resources. You can view the new changes directly on the explorer, http://explorer.swippcoin.com.
Wallet development
Twiddler has started pushing more of the changes that will come with the (2.2.0) release of the wallet. We have also been working on general code cleanups and improvements to the wallet. During this work, Chaozer has identified a number of bottlnecks after profiling the wallet with gprof. While some issues still remain, many of these bottlenecks have now been fixed. Since the last stable release (2.1.5), the public GitHub repo now contains over 80 additional changes. The change log can be viewed directly on GitHub https://github.com/teamswipp/swippcore/compare/2.1.5...master. While some of the changes really improve and optimize the wallet, we do not recommend anybody to run the master version, you should always stick to the last tagged release for stable operation. We expect quite a few more changes before we tag and release the stable (2.2.0) wallet.
Azenix/Aspectcoin swap
The bounty to collect the funds for this swap is now ongoing. The collection will be open until Friday, October 26'th at 23:59:59 GMT. Swipp is steaming forward!
Hello again, fellow Swippians! We want to tell you about some of the changes and new developments to the Swipp currency that have been happening during the last two months.
Recent listing on external resources
The currency has been listed on some external resource sites, inlcuding CoinGecko (https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/swipp) and Neironix (https://neironix.io/es/cryptocurrency/swipp). CoinGecko is a competitor to CoinMarketCap, but features support for more cryptocurrencies and exchanges.
Some small updates to the explorer
In order to accommodate our recent CoinGecko listing, we extended the API of our Iquidus fork (http://explorer.swippcoin.com), implementing the ability to fetch the money supply with separators included (http://explorer.swippcoin.com/ext/getmoneysupply?separator=,). We also fixed a bug which caused the percentage summary on the rich list page to be incorrectly displayed.
Wallet development
At the time of writing, the newest stable wallet version (2.1.5) is now responsible for 77% of all connections, which means the community is keeping up very well with our updates. During the last few weeks, we have started committing many fixes and changes related to the adaptive network. Twiddler has also updated all the code related to the spork system, which we will use when we enable the new features on the network, such as the adpative geoip calculations.
We plan on releasing version (2.2.0) of the wallet soon, which will include the new spork system, the adaptive masternode network and various other improvements. This version will create a new network and a new protocol version that will throw out all previous wallets connecting to the network. We will provide the exact block height for this update together with the new wallet release.
Muntster
Muntster has seen some recent changes and Chaozer informs us that the sites feature-set has also been expanded. Please visit the updated promotional site (http://www.muntster.com) for a complete list of planned features with the initial release of the site. Chaozer and would also like to thank all the beta testers that have been helping with the testing of the site. Thanks to you, many issues have been identified and dealt with.
Play portal
While not currently on the roadmap, we have started working on a new play portal where you will be able to play and bet Swipp. With the first release, we plan to release a Video Poker clone where players will be able to bet and win Swipp. This portal will also include an API which will expose some internal statistics of the site and allow access to the backend of the play portal. We want to allow external developers to publish their own games on the portal. The Swipp project will take a small comission, leaving the majority of the revenue to the game developer.
We have already published part of the backend code to our GitHub project page (https://github.com/teamswipp/cardtastic). While it's only supporting the poker rule set at the moment, the cardtastic library will be expanded to support many different card games and will be exposed for external use via an API.

Website has been updated with a revised roadmap and links to the recently added resources.
Azenix/Aspectcoin swap
Some time ago, Chaozer initiated a swap initiative to allow the Azenix/Aspectcoin community to swap their coins to Swipp. This initiative allows us to grow the Swipp community and generate some more interest for the project. To read about Azenix/Aspectcoin, please refer to the official BitcoinTalk thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2552998.0). The swap will be financed with a community bounty. If we successfully collect the Swipp needed for the swap, we intend to swap Azenix/Aspectcoin at a 1:10 ratio. If we collect less than the needed amount we will either raise the swap ratio or abort the swap and return the donations received.
The last date to report interest for the swap is 2018-10-05 23:59 GMT. Please join our discord (https://discord.gg/ZHVVjdZ) for the latest information concerning the swap.

Hi. If you are talking about the transaction fee, many small inputs will cause it to grow because of the increase in transaction data.

Hello Swippians! This time around, we have a few small updates to relay.
Updates to the explorer
Our fork of the Iquidus Explorer (http://explorer.swippcoin.com) has seen some nice additions and some needed changes.
We fixed a number of layout bugs, making the explorer site more responsive and mobile-friendly. Recently, the FreeGeoIP service (which the explorer uses for GeoIP positioning), tuned into a paid service. We quickly responded by switching to GeoIP nekudo. As a bonus, this gives us additional positioning data, including the city of the location (if available).
We also introduced a new network page (http://explorer.swippcoin.com/network) to the explorer where you can view the distribution of versions connecting to the Swipp network.
New wallet adoption
At the time of writing, the new wallet version (2.1.5) is already the most common wallet version on the network and is responsible for 36% of all connections.
Keep updating those wallets! As always, you can get the latest version of the wallet from https://github.com/teamswipp/swippcore/releases, or directly via the website on, http://www.swippcoin.com.
Bounty portal, promotional program
The bounty portal that will be hosted directly on the masternodes of the Swipp network has seen some recent work. We have decided to publish a preview of the portal directly on the website in order to promote the currency and engage the community in some bounties. You will be able to post bounty suggestions and claim published bounties directly on the website. We hope to have everything from promotional bounties to coding bounties available on the site. Everybody in the community will be able to fund the bounties by sending Swipp directly to an assigned address.
Before the portal gets uploaded, we encourage you to join the discord server (https://discord.gg/ZHVVjdZ) and give us some suggestions of bounties you would like to see. If you have some interesting exotic ideas about functionality the portal should feature, we also encourage you to post suggestions.

For immediate release!
Hello everybody. A lot has been going on since the last announcement. Below are some of the highlights happening in the project.
New wallet release
We are happy to announce a new release of the Swipp wallet.
The last version of the wallet had some major problems under Windows. Instead of just releasing a version with some quick patches, Chaozer went all in and did a complete re-haul to big parts of the wallet, optimizing and improving much of the code. In total, there were 77 commits made to 132 different files. A full comparison since the last version can be viewed here; https://github.com/teamswipp/swippcore/compare/2.1.3...2.1.5. You can also see a brief list of new features listed with the release notes; https://github.com/teamswipp/swippcore/releases/tag/2.1.5.
With this release (2.1.5) of the wallet, we provide binaries for both Windows and Linux (x86-64). The Linux binary comes in the form of a distro-independent AppImage exectuble. We are also planning to cross-compile a OS X binary with future releases. However, this has not been accomplished yet, as the cross compilation environment is very tricky to deal with.
This release also provides a bootstrap database that you can use to quickly import the blockchain into the wallet. Instructions on how to go about when importing the blockchain can be found inside the archive. The bootstrap can be downloaded via the link below.

While behind schedule, Muntster is coming along nicely. However, new beta testers for the site are still needed, so if you are interested, please contact chaozer@swippcoin.com and offer your services. Knowledge ín JavaEE and Java Server Faces is a big bonus, but definitely not a requirement.
Market situation and price
As with many other cryptocurrencies, we have seen a recent price drop of Swipp on Crex24 (https://crex24.com/exchange/SWIPP-BTC). At the moment, the supply of Swipp on the exchange is just above 100 000 Swipp, which is quite low. We need more volume and a bigger supply on the exchange, so if you hold some Swipp that you would be willing to part with, please post some of it for sale on the exchange. We think it would benefit the community and bring more people into the project.

We have updated the website (http://www.swippcoin.com) and made some more changes to the roadmap. In the coming days, we are also planning to post the website code on the GitHub project page, which will allow the community to contribute with changes and pull requests to the website.

We have some minor updates to mediate to the community.
Coinsmarkets
Concerning the exchange coinsmarkets, it seems they finally pulled out and ran away. The site has been completely down for over a week with zero communication from the owners. While we do not know the exact amount, we do know that the site is holding a substantial amount of Swipp. If you had holdings on the exchange, we urge you to report them in any way you can. If enough people do, we might get investigations started into the matter. We are deeply disappointed with their lack of any proper code of conduct and very sorry for all the people that got duped by these charlatans. This is exactly the kind of behavior and people we do not want in our cryptocurrency-community.

The wallet has recently seen some major updates in the GitHub repository which you can follow here, https://github.com/teamswipp/swippcore/commits/master. Some of the changes are specific to Windows. With the changes, Swipp is now slowly moving away from the original code base, becoming a completely unique development branch and cryptocurrency. Chaozer is currently preparing the next release of the wallet with a lot of these changes. If you want to help him test the changes before release, you can either join our discord (https://discord.gg/ZHVVjdZ) or send him a message directly via chaozer@swippcoin.com. We want to get the next version of the wallet released as soon as possible, so we can focus on the next major iteration of Swipp.
With the next wallet version, we plan to switch to a new build suite which will let us easily maintain binaries for Windows, OS X and a number of Linux distributions.
Muntster
Muntster is reportedly coming along nicely and is going to need beta testers, please contact Chaozer via discord (https://discord.gg/ZHVVjdZ) or directly (chaozer@swippcoin.com) if you are interested contributing. The exchange needs people that test the functionality, play around with the features and try to break (hack) the site. They need to iron out as many rough edges as possible before release and before a public test run.
Blockchain and masternodes
We are also happy to report that the Swipp blockchain has now surpassed 400 000 blocks. This means that there has been a small adjustment in the block rewards as specified on http://www.swippcoin.com/specifications. While the number of masternodes fluctuates slightly on the network, we have also seen that we reached a masternode count of 53 recently - a new record for the network.
Market situation
The current situation on the market resembles what happened in 2014 in more ways than one. So far, we have almost seen a similar correction of the Bitcoin price and a similar situation with the cash return from miners. While it might look frightening, we want to remind everybody that this is not the first time Bitcoin (or the cryptocurrency market) does this kind of correction. We are very confident that the market will recover.

Blockchain and masternodes
We are also happy to report that the Swipp blockchain has now surpassed 400 000 blocks. This means that there has been a small adjustment in the block rewards as specified on http://www.swippcoin.com/specifications. While the number of masternodes fluctuates slightly on the network, we have also seen that we reached a masternode count of 53 recently - a new record for the network.
Market situation
The current situation on the market resembles what happened in 2014 in more ways than one. So far, we have almost seen a similar correction of the Bitcoin price and a similar situation with the cash return from miners. While it might look frightening, we want to remind everybody that this is not the first time Bitcoin (or the cryptocurrency market) does this kind of correction. We are very confident that the market will recover.

Yes. You are correct. 40% (1.2 Swipp) goes to a masternode. Please be aware that the above reward table has changed since we took over the project - refer to http://www.swippcoin.com/specifications for an up-to-date table. Since v2 of the protocol, Swipp will always have PoW and PoS blocks rewarded on the network.

We actually had this discussion on the team and you will never see a whitepaper from us. We are not a business or a research project. We also consider the "white papers" that the majority of coins today release a complete joke and a farse.
Swipp is focused on blockchain development, to have fun and to create something great. Things change and we come up with new ideas all the time. Hence, we want a dynamic road map and the ability to change our minds. We will expand our wiki on the github repo, but a whitepaper that needs constant changes is not practical.
Almost the whole team of Swipp are Linux users. However, we run variations of LMDE, Debian and Arch on our machines. We could easily provide packages for a Linux distro or two, but the problem is that there are a lot of distributions, variations and flavors out there. Again - not really practical, and we can't please everybody. As a Linux user, it's really more practical to just follow the build instructions and compile the wallet yourself.
None of us run OS X, but as we have stated before, we are looking for a maintainer of the OS X wallet. Anybody willing to contribute can join the team as a maintainer. So if there are any OS X users out there with some development knowledge that would be willing to contribute, please let us know by sending a mail to info@swippcoin.com.

.Swipp is quite unique. For starters check the roadmap, http://www.swippcoin.com/#roadmap. There is also a lot of information in the history of the thread.
One of the big features we are focusing on is an adaptive masternode network which calculates scoring based on proximity. You can read more about it here, http://www.swippcoin.com/specifications#adaptive-masternode-network. Swipp will also take full advantage of it's masternode network and host services on said nodes. As of now, we have a web wallet and bounty portal planned. This will decentralize these services and make them more fault-tolerant. These services are also the reason why we are working on the adaptive network.
Swipp is not about solving any strange made-up problem (way to common with cryptocurrencies these days). What we want to do is to just create a good cryptocurrency with a good infrastructure, while improving the blockchain and the masternode system to a point where it is more than just a gimmick.

Coinsmarkets
Recently, coinsmarkets finally enabled withdrawals of Swipp. However, the wallet on the exchange is down. We have contacted them about this without any results so far. If we work together and contact their support about the issue, we might be able to get it cleared up. So if you have some time over, we ask you to send them an email (support@coinsmarkets.com) and inform them about the wallet issue.
New wallet
Twiddler has completed all the work on the adaptive masternode network. Before releasing it, we have decided to release a maintenance release of the wallet that includes numerous speedups and improvements. This wallet release is not compulsory and does not create a new blockchain. When compiling and testing the Windows version, Chaozer has identified some issues with the wallet under Windows - so the binary for Windows has been slightly delayed while we work out the quirks. For everybody that has the ability, we encourage you to compile it and test it out on your own. The new release can be downloaded form the website (http://www.swippcoin.com) or via GitHub (https://github.com/teamswipp/swippcore/releases/tag/2.1.3).
Muntster
We are very happy to announce that SwippSwap has evolved and is scheduled to become something much broader than originally intended. The focus of the exchange has shifted slightly and it has been renamed to Muntster (http://www.muntster.com). With the current situation on the cryptocurrency scene with exchanges asking for absurd amounts for a listing, Muntster will instead help coin communities with financing by actually sharing parts of the collected trade fees with said community. Additionally, XMCC and Swipp masternodes will get rewarded with some of the collected trade fees. Please read more on the promotional site for Muntster (http://www.muntster.com).

We have updated the website (http://www.swippcoin.com) and made some slight changes to the roadmap. We have also added AikaPool and ClutzyKid to the list of official mining pools.

We now have almost 50 masternodes on the Swipp network - which means that roughly 23% of the supply is locked up in masternodes on the network. One of our community members has also written a masternode setup guide which you can download at https://github.com/teamswipp/swippcore/issues/3.

We will start merging the changes for the adaptive masternode network and a lot of other interesting stuff soon. When it comes to the CREX24 volume - the low trading volume concerns more or less all currencies on the exchange - the exchange itself is still very small with a tiny user base and still does not allow access from the U.S and Canada. Hopefully, it will improve as the exchange grows.

There is a substantial amount of Swipp stuck on coinsmarkets at the moment. So we have decided to wait for coinsmarkets to release/open Swipp. After this, we will push out the next wallet update and get the adaptive masternode network released.
Development on the core continues though.

No new update currently. It should be more or less on schedule. Only one of us is involved in the development of the exchange. It is not directly developed by the Swipp team. We are happy to report that the wallet release is closing in and that Twiddler is finalizing much of that code and has started to commit the changes to the GitHub repo. He is testing all the changes - but there is a big chance we will need one or even a few quick consecutive additional updates to fix any issues after release. The wallet update will include several other new features and fixes not covered in our last post. A full change log will be posted together with the update! Exchanges
Swipp is now listed on a new exchange; CREX 24. While still young, the exchange looks very promising and offers several options for trading towards FIAT currencies. I was told by Chaozer that the listing was arranged by one of our community members. It's great too see the community working together in order to further the development and spead of Swipp! Below is a link to the Swipp market on that exchange.
Explorer
We received a few emails about the explorer being down. This is nothing to be alarmed about. We are testing some of the new wallet features on the live network, something that seems to confuse the NodeJS server at times. If it goes down, there is also an unofficial explorer from lpool that you can use; http://swipp.lchain.cc/.

ive mined 1000 swipp from https://lpool.name while my wallet wasnt syncing for 11 days. The mining rewards were being constantly deposited. i typed the command repairwallet in the console and it finally synced just now. but none of the coins ive been mining for the past 10 days have shown up. was there a chain split? or is there something wrong with my wallet? are those coins lost? shouldnt they be recorded in the blockchain?

Each time Swipp jumps version or revision milestones we do a split. Like when we jumped from 2.0.x to 2.1.x. Swipp is continously developed, so always keep up to date with the wallet.
Lpool and Altcoinix are both on the correct chain. You should be able to see your funds if you enter your address in the block explorer.
Are you running 2.1.1 or newer ?

ive added these nodes and my wallet has been syncing for 9 days.
Hi. If it's taking 9 days, something is obviously not right. The debug.log will usually tell you what is wrong. You should not have to add any nodes. There is an official seeding node (node1.swippcoin.com) that will distribute valid nodes to your wallet. Adding incorrect nodes might actually invalidate or slow things down.
If you want to add some nodes manually, check the explorer. The masternodes are often good candidates http://explorer.swippcoin.com/masternodes.
Also, make sure you are running the latest wallet release (2.1.1 or 2.1.2 both work fine).

I'm supporting this coin by mining in AikaPool ... and currently not using any wallet, all the cons are in pool. Are they safe there according to your update/upgrade?
They are safe for now. However, they won't be for long. We have tried contacting them without any response and they are not enforcing masternode payments. As we have no way of contacting them reliably, expect them to miss the next update. Regardless, this pool to stop functioning with the next update and all new blocks will be invalidated when payments are enforced. I would recommend getting all funds out of there and switching to Altcoininx or Lpool for mining as soon as possible.
