Re: Not able to send DCN from Coinomi to Cryptopia
by

Hello,

I am trying to send some DCNs from my Coinomi wallet to DCN address at Cryptopia. But every time I click on send, I get a message "Not enough money,  missing xxx ETH" and then next message "Transaction broadcast error"

What is causing this error, any idea? Do I need to have some ETH in my Coinomi wallet too in order to pay for the transaction fee?

Is it’s an erc20 token it will need some gas to send it over the ethereum network to Cryptopia. You’ll need some ether in your wallet.

Where can I purchase tokens now?

Anyone know if EtherDelta has them? Was thinking about trying it out.

Etherdelta is the single worst exchange out there, I’d give it a miss. I ve used it a few times when it’s the only option to buy a coin, every time is use it I hope it will be the last. The user interface is a mess and near impossible to use.  Hope this helps.

Im with Lloyds and Yorkshire bank, just dont mention the B word and youre ok. they'll come round eventually when they can see theres money to be made, it only takes one major retailer to start accepting BTC in the UK and bingo, bet they wont close Tescos bank account.

Re: We should become shareholders of MtGox and save it!
by

You're insane.

I would not give pocket change to anything even remotely related to Mark. He is obviously pathologically incompetent and dishonest.

Secondly - Bitcoin is supposed to be decentralised. If we cannot allow parts of the Bitcoin ecosystem to die off, we cannot make that claim. We should let MtGox die and use this as proof that the network, the community, the technology is decentralised and resilient.

Opting for the "too important to fail" position dramatically weakens the evolutionary process of Bitcoin services. It should fail, and fail fast. This is the market in operation.

Exactly, isnt that the old model we're trying to replace, too big to fail!!

Let Gox die and bitcoin moves on as always, bitcoin is not gox and vice versa

Less possibility. Bitcoin price is not steady with recent mtgox events. Each and every day new coins are emerging. SO you cannot predict anything.

And each and every day more companies are accepting btc and VCs are ploughing money into companies to innovate with btc. Where are the same for the other cryptos. Dont get me wrong i like cryptos as a proving ground and testing ground for things which can be built into bitcoin. Also i can mine cryptos and convert to bitcoin as bitcoin mining is now not feasible for the home user.

bitcoin has massive 1st mover advantage, its like TCPIP in the early days of the internet, it wasnt perfect and we could never imagine it transporting video/audio but it gained ground and soon enough it stopped being developed as it was seen as "good enough", innovation after that happened with HTTP/skype/NAT plus lots more.

day-to-day stability of value
BTc will become more stable once it is more openly traded (i.e. Winklevoss fund).

It will be more stable when the market cap altogether is much bigger, and then news positive or negative will have a smaller effect on the overall value of 1 btc.

Exactly right, the reason $ or £ or yen or euro dont move much is because they have multi trillion dollar market depth, making them move significantly requires massive amounts of trades, like they are ocean going tankers which take miles to turn around, bitcoin is a tugboat in comparison.

Re: Gox Files for Bankruptcy.
by

My understanding was that bankruptcy protection was similar to chapter 11 protection in the US, which allows for continued trading and restructuring. Is that not the case?

If it is the case, that is very different from just the connotations of "bankruptcy" which would be an admission that it is all over now.

(though I guess even if it is like chapter 11 it could well still all be over as they may never come up with a suitable plan)

Is it different in Japan?

"Bankruptcy" in Japan implies liquidation.  There are other forms of insolvency which imply an attempt at restructuring (the magic word is "rehabilitation").  It's not clear exactly what's going on.  Some people claim that the words "civil rehabilitation" were mentioned in the press conference but it's difficult to imagine how it would even be possible/approved with such a huge shortfall of funds (a total of 870,000 BTC plus $63.6 million in cash that we know of so far).

Hopefully the financial media will clarify things over the next couple of days.  Perhaps for some strange reason the "stolen" BTC aren't being regarded as a debt in the insolvency.

As btc is not recognized as legal tender that could well be the case.

Help, ASRock H81 Pro BTC with more than 2 GPUs
by
techstorm3
on 14/02/2014, 14:39:58 UTC
Hi All

Just got a asrock H81 ProBTC Mobo and have 2 R9 270X with 1350 watt PSU running ok, the mobo has 1 x16 and 5 x1, ive tried adding a 3rd 270X and the existing 2 work ok but the fans wont spin on the 2rd one, any ideas?

I know the 2rd 270X works as it came out of a working rig and Ive put it back in this other rig and it works fine, just wont work in the new rig, the Pro BTC is supposed to run 6 GPUs potentially (not that I'll be doing that), 3 would be nice.

any help would be much apreciated.

but now many other exchanges also working ok like bitstamp and mtgox but still they need to do some more about security

They will, it means by the end of the week the infrastructure will be even stronger. bitcoin protocol is not broken, just the exchanges need to tighten up their systems.

Constant whining like the world is going to end every time there is some bad news regarding Bitcoing.

I see so many panic stricken people on this forum.  Keep crying and whining. I'll keep buying on the price dips just like i did today.

As usual its no big deal, the exhanges have found an issue which they will fix, I dont keep any coins on any exchange, they are safe with me.

Im sick to death of all the doom mongers on the forums and on the press about the imminenent destruction of bitcoin, meanwhile the honey badger keeps on going.
