Did you see Ciphertrace's response to the FATF travel rule? I wonder how that could play a part with privacy coins

I know a few companies are working to aid in compliance. Although I find Ciphertrace's to make the most sense in regards to privacy

Re: Here is why Cryptocurrency future in India is in danger
by

I am deeply concerned about what's going on in India. The current government is a backward thinking government who are more interested in building temples and creating religious collisions within the country. They are also trying to include their own people as the head of every institution. New Governor is just another example of that initiative. BJP is trying to get hold of the cash reserve of the country to control their own agenda.

I don't see any hope for cryptos in India until the current government stays in Power. They are trying to establish a cottage industry based on cow dung and cow pee. It seems like we are travelling back in time instead of moving forward while the brightest minds are opting to stay abroad.

That is where my mindset was at too. I think there are deeper running issues with their government that need to be addressed before we can allow them to see a future for crypto.

CipherTrace Scout App Takes Crypto Investigations Mobiile
by

on 20/09/2019, 17:38:50 UTC
Cybersecurity firm Ciphertrace announced today a mobile tool they built that "traces" addresses through the blockchain to identify what coins may have been used in dark market purchase or ransomware attacks.

The rise in street crime coupled with crypto is what sparked the resurgence of a visualization of how money "crypto' is moving.

I haven't had the chance to check it out yet but I think it's wild this all can be done on a app now. What do you guys think?

If you spot suspicious transaction what you can do to reverse it back?
In my knowledge blockchain transaction will never be reversed unless and until destination address wanna send it back to the depositor! If you want to create any cryptocurrency it is not at all possible option for you crypto is to secure the transaction with just p2p technology.
None of the people or equal middleman will not be e involved in it.

I don't think the transaction can be reversed but the wallets can be traced back to the user especially if multiple cases of money are moving. I know that's what Ciphertrace's tech does and I think it's much more reasonable than looking to reverse transactions. They are trying to stop them before they happen.

We really don't know what's going to be the case of Libra as it is not a traditional cryptocurrency. Libra will be strictly centralized and its value will be capped based on the value of its underlying assets. So reversal of transactions may be possible. Also facebook will have to comply with thousands to regulatory compliance before they can actually roll out the coin to the market. So again reversal can be a possibility in case of a fraud and theft. In traditional blockchain, we can't do that but not sure about Libra on how they are going to handle such delicate situations.

Who are some of Libra's biggest competitors? I would like to know what they are currently doing and handling regulations

Re: What are Virgin Bitcoins

I found this article particularly interesting David Jevans CEO of ciphertrace interview regarding virgin bitcoins. Apparently they were able to showcase that some coins that were being sold as 'virgin bitcoin' were actually just cleansed via exchange hopping. Freshly mined coins thus still hold the highest regard and highest value

UK Police Arrest Teen for Hacking Unreleased Music to Sell for Crypto
by

A 19-yaer old in London has been arrested for finding unreleased songs and selling them for digital currency. This is a growing trend according to blockchain security company Ciphertrace.

Granted more large players in the entertainment industry are embracing digital currency. I think the two will be very successful together.

Re: The biggest crypto scams and arrests of 2019 so far
by
teddyelwyn
on 28/08/2019, 18:31:00 UTC
Wow this article is really great and made me understand a lot, there are so many exchanges that I have never even heard about that existed, like that of Japan, this is the first time that I would be hearing of such exchange and also arrest of some of the suspects, so it is not as if the government is not doing anything about the stolen funds as we think, they are actually still regulating the industry too in their own little way.

All we just need is full regulation, so that the rate of the arrest can increase, at least with this, the cryptocurrency market will gradual get cleaned of scammers and will be safe place for investors again. Those fund that has been recorded, have they been recovered, and if yes, will they be returning it back to investors or that is going into government purse because if it does, it still would not change anything then.

I agree that we need some sort of regulations but I believe having companies like Ciphertrace could be even more beneficial to bridge government regulators and the crypto community. We want to be sure we are preserving the ultimate goal of crypto

From the sounds of it the travel rule is applicable to all exchanges. I don't know what the case is if they don't play by the rules from regulators. I do know however that Ciphertrace is working to create a privacy enhanced compliance to adhere to this rule https://ciphertrace.com/ciphertrace-and-shyft-partner-to-address-the-new-fatf-virtual-currency-travel-rule/

I have had luck with the airdrops i've participated in. If they are notable companies and you've done your due diligence I think it's fair to say go for it.
