Hi Bitcoinaires... can we have Cryptocurrency Fans and Advocates in Nigeria follow this thread so we could possibly galvanize our strengths and dreams in order to advance the cause of cryptocurrencies in Nigeria and possibly form a team to censor and discourage SCAM COINS by community effort and idea contributions....

Let the Revolution Begin!!!

I am not a Nigerian but I am fully supportive. To do the revolution must be really prepared in any way from the infrastructure especially the internet network because the revolution you are referring to is about Bitcoin, because the problem of cheating may be many from there but I am sure you are not included in it, please prove For the well prepared nigeria world developing for a better future.

Thanks Man.... soonest it will become clearer... if we self-regulate ourselves well enough then we will earn a good name before te Government and the world at large.... and i think we can well do that as a community...

Better Days ahead...

Does anyone know the swap ratio?  Is it going to be 1 to 1 or will the number of coins be reduced?

swap 1:1
time swap 16/9 - 15/10

I think I read somewhere, that they said, that on the first day it is 1:1 and slowly decreases. They are very active on telegram, there you will get a clear answer.

Glad to see Nigerian citizens trying to promote something legal. For many years Nigerians were seen as the scam capital of

the world. { Nigeria's 419 scammers } They should really try to change the worlds opinion about their country. I worked on

contracts in that country and there are more to them than this "scam" label.  Angry

Surely that 419 Scam Tag will be challenged and conquered with the aid of blockchain technology

It is lovely to see another crypto enthusiast from Nigeria. It is becoming interesting how bitcoin is making huge impact and I am happy our country isn't lagging behind. Central Bank recently created a crypto awareness team which I believe is a good start. Nice thread and I second!
Let the Revolution Begin!!

I read all that too but not aware they created a team in addition to the conferences they then had.... any further details on this?? any weblinks to check out and look up the team???

Let The Revolution Begin!!!

It was a recent conference and I was fortunate to see the full program and opening statement from Musa Itopa, one of the Head of one of the CBN departments. In the last paragraph, he stated a group has been created called Blockchain Nigeria User Group (BNUG) to raise awareness on Blockchain Technology and Cryptocurrency in Nigeria...
Here is also an article that shared the news;
http://www.hmcryptogear.com/2017/08/central-bank-of-nigeria-endorses-bitcoin.html

"Nigeria's position is very clear. We cannot stop the tide of waves generated by the Blockchain technology and its derivatives. However the Central Bank has the responsibilities of ensuring price and financial system stability. This is why digital currency issuance becomes a major concern to the Central bank of Nigeria. To this end, the Central bank of Nigeria has kick started several initiatives and research works to identify the various use cases of Blockchain Technology Including the issuance of Digital currency using the Blockchain technology."

A group has therefore been created (Blockchain Nigeria User Group) to raise awareness on Blockchain Technology and Cryptocurrency in Nigeria most especially amongst stakeholders including the regulatory authorities.

ok i had seen this news but didn't really take note of the last paragraph....

Can the Nigerians here tell us how big MMM has been at various points? I've seen it's gained a lot of attention there and presumed that was the primary driver of BTC volumes there.

Yes MMM used to be the real driver at a time coupled with ZARFUND MLM but they all fizzled out (though MMM Local Currency still operating at the moment but with low spirits)...

Right now many Nigerians are into cryptocurrency trading on bittrex, poloniex, cryptopia, binance, yobit, etc and that's what primarily drives bitcoin in Nigeria for now..

What`s going on with bitcoin adoption in Nigeria? Is it profitable to mine bitcoins?
Are there any merchants accepting btc?I`m curious and i would like to invest in some trusted projects located in Nigeria, but i don`t have enough info about the country and the cryptocurrency businesses located there.
I want Nigeria to become the next "China" for bitcoin.

We will become the Next China as regards bitcoin for sure.... we were having challenges with the government due to their usual stark unawarenesss of the blockchain technology.... coupled with the TBC Scam Coin that was the first Purported Cryptocurrency to hit Nigeria after Bitcoin.... so the whole TBC scam gave Cryptocurrencies a bad name coupled with the downward trend Ponzis were taking as at then Late 2016 to Early 2017 in Nigeria.... anyways we are getting it all fixed up as we speak...

Nigeria has been known for purporting a lot of scam ever since. I hope you can clear the country's name because I read a lot of those scam pointing Nigeria as the source of all of it. If this is clear up, bitcoin can really boom in them because most of citizens there are into technology and bitcoin can be adopted quickly as compare to other African country. But I doubt it will become the next China as electricity is not cheap in Nigeria.

as for the scam coins... you have a promise they will all be chased into hiding...

...speaking of Nigeria becoming the African China of Cryptos and not just Bitcoin... its an assurance... the typical Nigerian spirit goes to the very end of whatever they engage in... it is true that in Nigeria individuals are responsible for their Electricity, Security, Social Ammenities and all that BUT we will, as we usually do, always weather through those storms...

I'm not from Nigeria but definitely I can give you the support. I think Africa is one place that bitcoin can really thrive IMHO. However, I don't know if Africa is ready for the revolution. How's the infrastructure though? Internet connection? I also supports your advocate against Scams because sad to say, a lot of scams are coming from Nigeria. From gold bullion scam to crypto currencies in general. I wish you goodluck and the Nigerians to carry the torch in this bitcoin revolution.

Plans are already being reeled out to openly challenge those scam coins/cryptos and send them to hiding and extinction... we know them and we know ourselves so its something the crypto community will do in Nigeria for sure.... their end is near enough

Concerning Mining Cryptos in Nigeria.... the major Challenge iss with Steady Power Supply and shaky internet connections... both Electric Power and Internet Services are quite costly to afford in Nigeria but Mining Rigs are still being set up here and there.... You Know the Typical Hustling Nigeruian spirit na..... man must survive...

As for Trusted Projects.... the mechanism is underground and very soon.... infact sooner that the word soon many legit blockchain tech start-ups will be all over the air and this same Bitcointalk thread will take the toll in announcing and verifying some of them...

Thanks Fellows for your wisdom and kindness. My fears were legitimate, having developed a successful career in Banks but lost my job in the recession, following the 2008 financial crash was the catalyst for my research into INJUSTICE, the answers shocked me, profits are privatised, losses are socialised and moral hazard runs pandemic. My objective is to defeat the Banksters. Bitcoin would provide people of the world Justice and restitution. We no longer have to suffer the humiliation of a global two tier justice system in silence, it's time for Bitcoin.  Again, Thank you.

Sad to hear about your past. Don't worry mate, you will get more success in the future than your old bank job. Just keep working hard and believe in bitcoins. One day this bitcoin will change your fortune, including me Smiley

yes you're making sense here
