Bitcoin is rare . Just only 4 million left to be mined. Is this the reason why , the price increase?  Need to know your opinion too.

Yes, without scarcity there is no need for any price.  Hence, why air, unpurified water, light, are close to valueless even though they are very useful.

Selling 2500 LBTC (Bitcoin Fork) Selling at good discount from Futures Prices
by

I would like to use an escrow for this trade.

Once we agree upon a trustworthy escrow you can send them your BTC and the LBTC address you'd like me to send to.  Then they can release the BTC funds once you've received LBTC.  I would prefer breaking this up into a few trades.

Current futures prices are around 0.03, I am willing to sell a lot less than that.

If you send me a pm I can provide proof of funds and we can work out a price.

Re: I've still got 80 sMerit to give away.

I do not think it is appropriate to be a rating tool. I believe this is a tool to improve the quality of forums. It's really up to the members to use it to help direct the flow of writing. So far it seems to be used to "appreciate" ghosts in the past, and to help sig campaign members to "rank" to increase the size of their banners. Because of this abuse, I think the good points can only be given alone, which reduces a bit of the offense. Merits will cause nothing but problems for forum users and admins. We have allready seen members being accused of selling merits to other members. When I used to run forums (not crypto forums) I tried the merit sytem out and the emails from users claiming that this person or that person sold merits got so bad I disabled it in

I'm leaving myself open here to another attack by you-know-who. Smiley

This is my account on another forum. Every member has the ability to "like" a post, and he can like every post on the forum if he wants to, but that wouldn't really be productive. If I analyse my likes, it gives me a very good idea of public opinion and approval in the forum. Because a member can only give one like to a post and it is public, it gives me a lot of encouragement to make what I consider to be helpful and informative posts, especially when the like comes from a senior and experienced member.

I've contributed nothing but shitposted tons.   I've been shitposting for days now, never got any merit, so I think this system is working well.

I suppose you would need a dislike button to really gauge public approval.  What you're proposing with the "likes" is sort of like only being able to long an asset.  To get the true prevailing bias you need to be able to short it as well.

Was very busy with my work today, then suddenly i decided to check the price of btc if its starting to rise again. But then, i was shocked when i saw its price which is almost 6,000 usd. What will happen to bitcoin's price tomorrow or the next weeks to come? Will it continue to drop or will increase a little? Why is this happening? Thats a very huge drop.

Panic selling.  Just HODL.

Im a bit confused about the merit rules. Are they allowed to be traded?  Also, why can you say that a post didn't deserve X merit?  Is it not in the right of the giver to choose?

Those are all honest questions so, please dont feel as though im attacking you.

Re: What if a person died with BTC!!

What will happen??

No one will have the BTC address. Hence will them isolated?

In FIAT, people can handover money to someone.. So, i predict BTC will be disappeared gradually.
It's none of your business, though... If that person owns number of bitcoins then it us up to him to secure the passwords and hand it over to his/her spouse just in case he dies... BUT if he doesn't feel like doing so, its none of your problems. If that is a huge amount of BTC then that's going to be a huge HODL! ha ha! Come on, man... don't waste your time with these kind of silly questions. Read some REAL articles in bitcoins so you'll get wealthy anytime soon.

The exception to this is when quantum computing or some other danger/risk becomes real.  Lost/stolen bitcoins will be "redeemed" by hackers.  Not by their intended recipients.

If a person with BTC and have a sudden death his/her BTC will still be in the network, unless he/she saves all information about his/her btc on notepad and can be easily access by his/her family. Like me all my online password are save on my pc.

I don't get how that is an "unless."  Bitcoin is always on the network.  Writing the priv keys or a mnumonic down on a piece of paper can't change that.

Re: What is Paper Wallet?

Method of storing bitcoins offline on a piece of paper that holds
hai the private key và địa chỉ địa chỉ.
A type of cold wallet, used to store offline bitcoins printed on paper. The printed information consists of two parts. One is the public address of the wallet, which is used to let other people see and receive the bitcoin. The rest of you are the secret key used to consume bitcoin.

The strength of a paper purse is that your secret key is not stored anywhere on the internet, absolutely safe from the internet. But if you make the bile or wallet fall into the hands of others, you will permanently lose the bitcoins that are stored in your wallet.

got to bitadresss.org

It's a wallet that is made out of paper.

Re: What impresses you the most about Bitcoin?
by

Bitcoin has been impressive in a lot of ways since it's beginning but the one thing that blew me out the most was the ideology. A foolproof peer to peer online transaction system based on blockchain technology was just a beautiful set of works executed and implemented by Satoshi and no wonder it has already made its mark in every field it is being used in.

The protocol may be foolproof in some ways, but when you have people spending 1 BTC out of a 8000 utxo and paying a 7999 BTC fee it makes you wonder.

Re: Why I would rather have paper money then Bitcoin
by

on 27/01/2018, 14:28:50 UTC
This is going to come to a surprise to many on here, but at the moment I'd rather have paper (US FIAT) money. It's something that I would be able to actually use in my life with ease, and even though I love crypto and everything I have to be honest about what I think and see.

Plus for the fact that if i was to have bitcoin right now, I'd be paying a very high amount in fees if I wanted to actually end up using this money.

BTC is pretty liquid.  What if you could have 10% more BTC than paper money?

I wonder what will happen to BTC price day before the last bitcoin (21 million) will be mined?
Would love to hear your opinions

nothing.  It will be baked in.

Actually, let me rephrase:   Expect normal volatility.  Whatever that is in 2140.

Re: How to get someone to trust in Bitcoin.
by

on 27/01/2018, 06:09:31 UTC
Hi everyone,
Cryptocurrencies are booming, and is a good idea to get into it now. A friend of mine watched a documentary about Bitcoin and saw the negative news. Afterwards, he is completely stuck and will not trust in any online payments, especially any cryptocurrencies. What do I need to do to get him back to normal again? Anyone have positive news about Bitcoin that I can let him know?
Thanks

"Trust in Numbers"  Its a trustless set up from the point of humans.  Theoretically, you only need to trust algorithms.  This space (minus ethereum) is all about unstoppable code

Would you trust a brand new computer for creating a paper wallet?
by
tententen
on 27/01/2018, 05:58:14 UTC
I know we all get paranoid at times, but would you trust an "in-box" computer with creating your private keys?

This seems to be the minimal amount of trust required.  Unless you happen to have an untampered pc from before BTC was conceived in 2008.

If you want to hold on for a long time, then I suggest you invest in several ICO projects, so long-term holding could have a surprising return. I recommend you to join these ICO.

Careful about giving out financial advice like that.  Its not logically sound.  Invest in ICOs because they could have a high return?  Why not advise going all-in on #30 on a roulette wheel?  BY that logic that seems fine.  The flaw is that you need to consider risk.  Without risk these models suck.
