Re: biggest criticism of Bitcoin
by

Hello!

I would be interested to know what you think is the biggest criticism of Bitcoin or where you see the biggest weakness?

And what would you respond to this criticism if you were confronted with it in a conversation?

Thank you for your critical thinking!

Yours, DrHodler59
I think one of the biggest criticism of Bitcoin which comes with the very inherent flaw of it. I believe it was never designed in a way to be used by so many people. So the biggest problem it faces is the scalability issues, the moment you see a lot of on chain traffic immediately you will see the fees skyrocketing up, you will see slower transactions. Apart from this obviously the environmental impact of the Pow consensus is also a big criticism which a lot of pro environmentalists pose on bitcoin. So obviously the PoS or the hybrid solutions are becoming much more relevant to the overall situation in cryptos right now. and honestly I don't have any proper answers to the question on the scalability issues.

Speaking of the clipboard, this would only take effect if you've copied the information to proceed a transaction, correct? So if you make a mistake, you'd already know that it's compromised, and it won't affect other wallets because you'll be more careful next time. You might even end up reprogramming your computer to eliminate that malware. What I'm saying is, you will lose the balance of one of your wallets but the others will be safe.
This is correct except that the clipboard hijacker malware doesn't affect the wallet itself so it can't steal all your coins. What it does is just changing the address you are sending to with the address of the attacker. You will lose only the coins you are intending to send not all the coins on the wallet.
The safest thing to do is to always double or even triple check the transaction details before clicking the send button.
The more intelligent malware now even try to hijack the clipboard with an address much closer to the address of the original receiver. Mostly first & last 2 letters are same which is all most people look at. So better idea is to check the whole address before sending out the transaction instead of just checking first few digits. I even saw certain mobile wallets show just a few letters of the receiver address on the confirmation page, I had to go back in the mobile app just to confirm the whole address. But yes only the coins being sent out are under risk.

But I had another question. If I can do another transaction with full amount of my wallet (including the balance I just transferred) before the first hijacked transaction is confirmed. Will I be able to do the transaction, let's say if I put a fees to make it possible in the immediately next block?

Re: Can we avoid tax on crypto trading in india
by

on 25/11/2023, 15:46:30 UTC
Generally, the notion is taxation is on the selling and buying of cryptocurrency but mostly it's deducted only when transacted in INR or an Indian exchange where INR is withdrawable. You can avoid tax on crypto trading only if you are willing to do all your trading either on any offshore trading platform like Binance or something where TDS laws aren't applicable as of now, honestly not sure, they might even come in the future for Indians specifically. Another safer yet more complex option will be to use DEX instead of CEX. You won't have to do any KYC on these exchanges and honestly, your money isn't that easily traceable either. But no matter what you do if you want to redeem the money in INR you will always have to pay a tax on that. No choice at all.

PS: Obviously legally it's not allowed to do so & not a wise thing to do as well, so please DYOR.

So Hardik Pandya is mostly injured for the next match and won't be in. What do you guys think? Will it be 5 bowlers in form of Shardul Ashwin, Kuldeep, Bumrah and Siraj or do you think it's better to put in SKY in place of Pandya and Ashwin in place of Shardul? Because I think it's better to have an extra batter with you haven't seen that trusted batting from Shardul so far. Case would have been different if we had Axar in team.

Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 ACTUAL DISCUSSION THREAD!
by

The seating arrangement is more than 130k which is why the stadium seems empty. I am watching the match on Hotstar and I can see 44L showing up now. People are crazy about T20 cricket only a few like you and I are the ones who watch ODI. Watching the way England spinners are getting whacked for 4 and 6, I do not agree with your analysis. It is all about captaincy and discipline when it comes to bowling. Might as well say, what a fantastic debut by Ravindra.
Yeah, that's why i said "Obvious reasons". Also, i heard that for this particular opening match. BCCI gave 20k free tickets to women and kids and still, it's not even half full. Tells you a lot about the current situation of cricket. It's an ICC tournament so every board has the responsibility to create hype in their respective countries so that fans can travel and support their teams. We can obviously make a list of why the opening match looking dull.

True, it does look like it. Surely smooth sailing for Kiwis against English spinners.
This was one of the worst start of this world cup because I have feeling mostly understand there is no India involved in this match so having this here is no good deal because even we have 30K fans but still this was looking empty which create big negative impact on this mega event around the globe.

BCCI and ICC needs to understand ground realities and having a match like this in a small ground could also work for them, and surely we have good atmosphere, but they have done poor things which are surely going to have negative impact.

Now tomorrow we are going to have same situation again while Pakistan will play against the Netherlands which is going to be another dull encounter between these two sides even now I have feeling mostly matches without India surely going to have same problem.

I just saw the statistics and the last time before this world cup when the host nation did not play the first match of the ODI world cup was in the 1996 ODI World cup and coincidentally that happened in the Indian sub-continent as well. After that all the world cups have their first matches with the host nations:

1999, England : Eng vs SL
2003, SA : SA vs WI
2007, WI : WI vs Pakistan
2011, Ban : Ind vs Ban
2015, Aus-NZ : NZ vs SL
2019, Eng : Eng vs SA

I recently came across this news on Economic times. All global CEX have been or are being requested to share their user database to the government of India. Every major CEX has made it mandatory for its users to pass KYC, it will be easy for them to collate the data and share it with India. India took this responsibility as it had the Presidency of the G20 summit 2023.

The problem that India will face is that these exchanges are based in countries that are tax heaven, those exchanges cannot be forced to share the data. India has time till March 2024 to come up with the database before the next G20 summit in 2024. Once the database is created it will be shared with the G21 group to fight against crime commited using cryptocurrency.

What do you think will be the impact of this database to the Indian community that are using International centralized exchanges?

Thanks.
Internationally things don't work this easily. It's more like a quid pro quo system that works when it comes to international data sharing. So if they want to gather data from international exchanges they obviously need to offer their data to these countries government as well. You cannot enforce this on them, also the threats of banning them might not also work because India isn't a very big market for them anyway.

Secondly, I am very sure this isn't to solve the crime committed using cryptos. NO ONE commits a crime using crypto and sweeps the money to a CEX. This is more to find about tax evasions and ensure tax compliance of 30% tax which the government has kept.

But as you said getting it from Tax haven exchanges would be like an impossible task for sure.

Re: Funding rate for make profit
by
teosanru
on 24/09/2023, 17:16:45 UTC
Two days ago, I opened a position with a very risky volatile coin at some minutes to its funding rate fee, the coin was having -1.98% funding rate fee. You can see how risky that is which I can not call trading but gambling.

After I opened a long position, luckily I was able to have unrealized PnL of $67, but it was just some seconds remaining to another 8 hours funding rate time to start counting down. I waited and all that I noticed in less than a second after the next eight hours began was that the $67 profit that was seen suddenly droped to $4.

I was paid the funding fee which made me to make almost $60 in total. I mean the profit from trading is around $3 if trading fee has been deducted while the remain profit was from funding fee.

I noticed that traders are using the funding fee to manipulate the market, although we can not call it manipulation too because they want to make profit, but they can also lose. That is trading. If you are trading these less volatile coins with high funding fee, you will noticed what that I am talking about.

Are you using funding fee to make money from the derivative market? If so, what is the most possible way have you used it to make money successfully or it is not actually working?
On centralized manipulated exchanges I would stay miles away from using Funding fees to actually make any profit. It's because exchanges could easily change the direction of the fees based on their arbitrary decisions to get more profits. Also if you want to make profits in this way you have to study the market on a macro level. You have to continuously keep looking at the order book, the sentiment of the market, the types of trade which have been recently hit in the past trades. From what all this sounds like this definitely isn't worth the pain that it would give you.

Re: India plans to develop darknet monitoring tool
by
teosanru
on 24/09/2023, 17:12:54 UTC
recently saw a news that india is planning to make tool for monitoring darknet for crypto related fraud. crypto related scams are increasing in India so MHA has planed to act against it.

Any source would be very well appreciated for such things in the OP itself, nevertheless I also read it on same in an article on Investing.com - https://www.investing.com/news/cryptocurrency-news/india-to-develop-dark-net-monitoring-tool-to-combat-crypto-fraud-report-3180499 . But more than Crypto related scams it looks as if this is more for all types of shady activities that go around but the payment method is cryptos. Also the payment mechanism could actually be useful in creating the whole link of the transaction and finding the person as well. So I think it'll actually be a great tool if we an build one.

Team India performed well as Vishal put up a huge score which was very difficult for Australia to match. India's batting team managed to collect 399 runs after defending the wicket very carefully. But the Australian team came to the field after the rain, they lost three wickets and scored 96 runs for 13.2 with only a few runs, so at present the Australian team is under a lot of pressure on the wicket. It will be very difficult for the Australian team to collect these runs today and I can say that Australia will lose today. Because the wickets are lost in the power play and the wickets cannot score runs under pressure because the bowling line of the Indian team is very strong. Warner basically scored few runs and other batting did not perform well.
After a 5-wicket win in the first match of the three-match ODI, India are going for a big win against Australia in the second match. The target for Australia in the second match was 400 runs, 400 runs in 50 overs is very difficult. It is natural that Australia's game will be a bit chaotic where the target is 400 runs. From the beginning they were under pressure to score 400 runs, that's why the Australian batsmen batted under a lot of pressure from the start, as a result of which they lost eight wickets, failing to score 150 runs. Australia need 161 more runs to win this match and India need just two more wickets. Very soon we may see India announced as the winning team of this match.
Today's match was a really big joke, to be honest, with such short boundaries 400 was obviously a very normal total for any good batting side to make but yes Ashwin still made it look as if it's a great turning track. I still almost always think that in pressure situations he can prove to be a better spinner the Kuldeep but I think it's the unorthodox action and being a leg spinner that has always helped Kuldeep. Also now because we have two spin all rounders in form of Jadeja and Axar, Ashwin has really been pulled down in that list of eligible players for the squad of WC.

Re: 0-Dated Options Trading vs. Gambling: Which Packs More Thrill?
by
teosanru
on 23/09/2023, 18:05:57 UTC
Hello, Bitcointalk community!

Having spent over 20 years on the trading floors of major banks, I've come across various financial instruments and strategies. One intriguing area that often pops up in debates is 0-dated options trading vs. traditional gambling. So, which is more fun? Let's dive in.

0-Dated Options Trading:
These are options that expire on the same day they're traded. It's an adrenaline-pumping ride, no doubt. Every tick of the underlying asset can drastically impact your position. The stakes are high, and so are the potential rewards. Imagine the exhilaration of capitalizing on market movements within mere hours!

Gambling:
Whether it's spinning the roulette wheel, laying down a poker hand, or betting on a horse race, the rush from gambling is undeniable. It's a game of chance, intuition, and sometimes, strategy. The unpredictability and immediate feedback loop can be a thrill.

The Verdict:
Both 0-dated options trading and gambling offer unique forms of entertainment. While trading offers a blend of strategy, research, and market intuition, gambling thrives on sheer chance and luck.

However, a crucial distinction to remember is that trading, when done right, is based on informed decisions, backed by market analysis and data. Gambling, on the other hand, is primarily about the thrill of the unknown.

For some, the analytical challenge of trading might be more satisfying, while for others, the raw unpredictability of gambling might be more appealing. It's like comparing chess to rolling dice; both are fun in their own ways!

What are your thoughts? Do you find the strategic challenge of options trading more thrilling, or the unpredictability of gambling? Share your experiences below!
Honestly both are very same in this case. If you are doing trading without any analysis at the back then it's more or less just like gambling. Coming to which could bring more thrill. I think trading would bring more because the outcomes are more, in gambling comparetively the outcomes are less instead.

If Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad were not present in today's match, I don't know how shamefully Bangladesh would have been defeated. I have nothing to say about this match of Bangladesh against New Zealand.
Bangladesh cricket team performances keep going down the drain over time. They were unlucky in the last match actually thanks to rain interference since it looked like they would win that match.

Am not expecting them to go far in the World Cup thanks to their horrendous form these days.
Bangladesh's top order batsmen failed miserably with only Tamim Iqbal scoring 44 and Mahmudullah Riyad scoring 49. However, New Zealand could not bat properly due to rain and were bowled out for 254 runs before playing a full over in their innings. There was a golden opportunity for Bangladesh but due to poor performance Bangladesh were bowled out for just 168 runs. New Zealand's reference spinner Ish Sodhi picked up 6 wickets and destroyed Bangladesh's batting line-up to be bowled out for just 168 runs.

This was just a sorry looking card for Bangladesh. And I am actually not going to call this a big target. Because this was definitely achievable. The problem is Bangladesh batsmen got out playing some dumb strokes.

Liton Das got out in a way that is really dumb. As the captain of Bangladesh cricket team, he should have known better.

At the same time I can name a few that actually got out in a pretty bad way.

Just look at the wicket of Mahmudullah, the ball was really bad. That should have been at least a boundary.
Also, look at the ball in which Tanzid got out, he played a bad shot.
And I am not even going to talk about Soumya. I don't know how he is even getting chances. he can only play well against weaker opponents, just like Sabbir Rahman.
And at the same time, Tami Iqbal also got out in a very bad way. It's absolutely the fault of Bangladesh that they lost this match.
Don't you think Asia Cup was really enough to tell you that Bangladesh team isn't really a team which can compete with the major teams. In the last 3 world cups I was always hopeful that Bangladesh has the capability of reaching the Semis but honestly Cannot say this in this very world cup.

Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons]
by
teosanru
on 23/09/2023, 17:53:58 UTC
I read a very interesting article that actually happened very realistically.

Quote
retiring early is the new American dream. Imagine working for 15-20 years (instead of 40 years), investing half your income and retiring in your 30s or 40s. But a few early retirees have found out that it’s not as amazing as they thought it would be. We chatted with a few people who retired early — and then realized retirement wasn’t for them and started working again.

- I Wanted To Continue Providing Value
While retiring conjures up images of spending all day on the beach, many early retirees don’t feel satisfied doing nothing.

- I Wanted a Challenge
Retirement removes the challenges that work presents, which can be a good thing, but may also lead to boredom and a lack of purpose. Early retirees who have gone back to work respect the challenge of working for a business.

- I Wanted More Financial Security
Retiring early takes long-term discipline and a large enough nest egg to support your needs for the rest of your life. Sometimes early retirees simply didn’t have as much as they thought they needed or wanted more money to feel secure.

- I Didn’t Want To Retire, I Just Needed a Vacation
When you’re stuck in the daily grind, you might feel like the only escape is retiring from work forever. But in some cases, you are simply working too hard and need a long vacation.

- I Have a Passion for Entrepreneurship
Once you are retired, you have more time to pursue your passions. For some, those passions include entrepreneurship and running a business.
Read More: https://www.msn.com/en-xl/money/other/i-retired-early-and-regretted-it-why-i-went-back-to-work-to-continue-building-wealth/ar-AA1fBYHz?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=f2c759f9480f49fea02aa0d8288cc290&ei=16

this story is the same as what my cousin experienced, he retired early (at the age of around 35 years) now he is around 45 years old but there is an illness he is suffering from and he has to get proper treatment which quite expensive, so he sold some of his valuables and also withdrew his investment in shares.

as long as you can still make money, don't even think about retiring early, I know early retirement is everyone's dream but who knows what will happen next, you have to maintain your grades and productivity so that you stay healthy and respected by people.

I really don't have a problem with early retirement but what I have realised about career is it's something that helps you get a motive in your life. Which means after retirement your life would be very motive less. Unless you are someone who can actually create a motive out of anything then It's different otherwise it's not really a wise decision to retire early, instead work for your passion instead of just money which is a better choice.
