I'm absolutely for DeFi. The key idea is to give full control of your own assets and avoid any third-parties participating. Damn, about $3 billion are locked in DeFi projects! That means that lots of people trust their holdings to them, invest and see the potential of such projects. Btw, we  put together some interesting articles about DeFi in general and DeFi projects here: https://defiwiki.org/

Hi, yes, these resources are awesome. But it seems that the article on 101blockchains fouses on Ethereum-based DeFi projects and misses EOS-based for example. I'd like to suggest one more DeFi resource: https://defiwiki.org

It seems that DeF is shifting traditional financial products to the open-source and decentralized world. I guess it could bring several benefits in comparison with traditional financial services. For example, lots of dApps developed on top of the Ethereum or EOS blockchains, are able to provide reduced operational costs and lower entry barriers. Also, feel free to check the repository of knowledge about DeFi https://defiwiki.org. You can find some helpful info re DeFi there.

That's a great overview of DeFi sector! Don't hesitate to share your knowledge with other community members on https://defiwiki.org/
Why is DeFi called decentralized finance? If centralized Stablcoin is laid

Well, not each stablecoin is centralized. We can consider as examples of centralized stablecoins: Tether, Gemini or USD Coin. They are backed by fiat currencies or commodities collateral-backed. But there are decentralized stablecoins that are backed by crypto/multiple assets. Such as MakerDAO's DAI, Synthetix, EOSDT, etc. https://defiwiki.org/wiki/Stablecoins
DeFi is not only about stablecoins, but there are also many other components https://defiwiki.org/wiki/DeFi_-_A_Beginner%E2%80%99s_Guide_to_Decentralized_Finance

Crypto Asset Insurance
by
tetuto
on 15/06/2020, 23:18:08 UTC
Crypto asset insurance is gaining momentum as a standard among a variety of businesses in the crypto asset space as of late 2019/2020. We definitely need more insurance policy implementations among the DeFi products/dApp. Feel free to add your options to the article, and all comments/edits are welcome!

Great resource, glad to see some that somebody is compiling useful information about DeFi into a manageable format.

I'd like to see an article on the different types of DeFi products, right now there aren't that many, e.g. hedge funds, lending solutions, stablecoin issuance platforms etc.

Would be nice to have some categories to help define DeFi as it grows, maybe help define some terms that will become the standard.

I've made an article on Lending platforms as well

Re: Crypto Taxes & Regulations catalogue
by
tetuto
on 13/05/2020, 14:47:24 UTC
Yes it's relevant. But it seems to be published long time ago and never updated later. The article mentioned just five countries that apply taxation over crypto users [Australia,Brazil,France,Singapore,United Kingdom] when actually we have more countries.
I found this great article which include more countries applying taxes either over individual possession or business possession. I can mention:
Switzerland:
Quote
If you earn income by mining cryptocurrency in Switzerland, this qualifies as self-employment income. If you earn crypto via the professional trading of cryptocurrency, this counts as business tax. If you earn your main wage in the form of cryptocurrency, then you must declare your assets on your income taxes.
Investors in cryptocurrency are those who only trade from their personal accounts. In this case, crypto gains are tax-exempt capital gains. This means you should report them to the Swiss government but will not need to pay taxes on them.

South Corea: where ICO industry and the digital currency market are both taxed.

Portugal: where businesses have to pay taxes on profits they make from crypto gains.

The list should be long as the article was published in September last year.

Is this defi wiki article relevant? Wish we had kind of a catalog of regulatory cases https://defiwiki.org/wiki/Crypto_And_DeFi_Tax_Regulations
