You're right. They are probably just sitting around watching TV instead of working on this multi-million dollar fuck up.

Or not

Flash itself is too much of a gpu hog for it to be as efficient as other miners (launch a youtube video while mining, watch your hashes drop by 10-20%)

Anyways to answer your question, there are none currently using flash

I think you could not really pull a GPUminer on bots - that usually need drivers installed correctly etc and it really slows down system performace - I think it would slow down their computers too much so most of the victims would simply buy new hardware.

However, I'm administering a Computer pool with 80 machines here for work, and thos machines have to stay on at night but theres no one being able to use them, so what I can tell:

CPU: Intel Q6600 -> 4 MHash/s/Machine
GPU: GF 8800 GT -> 25 MHash/s/Machine

that makes roughly between 25 and 30 MHashes per machine, for me it's about 2GH/s, but of course a large scale bot network could do much better.

no one will notice the thousands of extra money being spent on power or anything

good luck with your job

Lol sounds like someone is jealous.  This is a great way to utilize PCs that are otherwise wasting power doing nothing.

Okay, do you have any idea how much wattage a computer pulls when its sitting there doing nothing compared to when its mining?

Also, jealous? I work in the IT field for a company where I have access to around twice as many machines (idle overnight) as he does (granted they do not have capable graphics cards) and as easy as it would be to hide mining from the users, you can't hide the power bill.

I happen to have access to deepbit's servers, so let me reset that password for you

Just kidding, I dont.

What are the chances anyone on this forum would be able to do something for you?

Even if you could, the electricity bill would lead to an investigation

(i've thought about it seeing as I work in IT with a bunch of little desktops under my control lol)

So what is this guy gonna sit and watch your PC the whole time? Can't you just run away with his video card?

Its not his video card, hes saying if you have a video card he will have you install some software to do some "calculations" for him and he'll pay you for the electricity the card uses

It says that we get a Radeon HD 5870 and he gets electricity.

Guess i only read the second paragraph, my bad. Maybe he thinks you cant steal it because he knows where you live haha

Re: Should I join a pool or go solo?

Well if you are gpu mining we need to know what cards you have so we can caculate the has rate, if you are CPU mining quit now it will take you a good 50 years to mine anything at the current difficulty.

Like he said, its all gonna depend on your Mhash/s... If its high enough, you can go solo and possibly make money (almost like gambling). If you go with a pool, you'll never "hit it big" but you will get smaller, regular payouts
