If the 12 words are given to you, that means the person or company that gives you the seed phrase will have it and have access to your bitcoin and steal it. Wallet will generate you seed phrase in a way only you will know the seed words. That is why it is good to use open source wallets like Electrum because close source wallets can be malacious in a way malware can be included in a way the wallet will generate already known seed phrase or seed phrase that can be know to the developers of the wallet.My comment is based on you not to reveal your seed phrase to anyone.

This appears to be largely the same set of criteria that the company required in January of 2012, when they wrote: “We require a password of at least 10 characters in length to ensure that even if our database is compromised your wallet will remain secure.”
At the risk of stating the obvious, this means that whatever password you chose for your Blockchain wallet is at least 10 characters long.
Update: However, in February of 2021 we discovered a 2017 Blockchain password that was only 9 characters long. So, if your Blockchain password was created earlier than January of 2018, a shorter password length is possible.

The 12-word seed phrase (which is BIP39) is given to users after their upgrade in 2016.
Wallets created before that upgrade didn't have that kind of recovery phrase. Instead, they had a recovery phrase including 16-17 words that isn't supported by any other wallet.

Context: I have some old Doge wallet.dat files from 2013-2014. Last night, I spent some time dumping the private key from one of the addresses using the newest version of Dogecoin Core and importing it into a new Multidoge wallet. Everything seemed to work correctly, and Multidoge recognizes the receiving address corresponding to the private key that I imported.
Problem: However, one thing is puzzling me. Although it isn’t synced, Dogecoin Core is showing a list of old transactions from my old wallet file. When I tried to enter one of the addresses corresponding to these transactions into the Doge Blockchain, it yields a result that shows the address has no transaction history whatsoever. No balance, no coins sent/received, 0 transactions.
What could be happening here? I haven’t been much paying attention for the past few years, but was there ever a hard fork or something where the entire pre-fork blockchain was abandoned somehow?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I just realized that in the time this thread has been around, I've performed 3,000+ hours of clinically supervised work, tested for and received a clinical license, started private practice work, and (hopefully) changed dozens of lives for the better.

your belief was popular with Socrates but then it was completely disproved by Aristotle. ever since then the debate was closed. there is no point in trying to make up reasons to believe in it with fringe reasoning.
The best you can do is say that it is your belief, and YOUR reality. and that you cant prove it but you believe it. then turn it into a religion. because that it what those are for.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Among most conspiracy theorists, providing evidence contrary to their beliefs will only make their beliefs stronger, and this is usually proportional to how good the counter-evidence is. If it doesn't make them think the first time, it likely never will.
That being said, they're already paying for their mindset in real life, and how much they pay is proportional to both the time spent and how public they are with it (e.g. are they just sharing their beliefs anonymously, or are they sharing them with friends, family, coworkers, etc.?). The more they dive into the conspiracy, the more it will take a toll on their social success, financial success, and overall life satisfaction.

Capacity? Probably. Though now we see the Flynn Effect, i.e. an increase of about 15 IQ points in the general population in the past century or so corresponding with a rise in technology; tech is complex and forces us to think about things in complex ways and engage in more complex tasks.
Still, there's an upper limit to how well we can deconstruct and analyze complex situations, and most conspiracy theorists vastly overestimate how good they are at doing this (because they vastly underestimate complexity).

I'm assuming the video is something about why it isn't dark at noon after 1/2 year, which is explained by the difference between sidereal and solar days which are (for simplicity) ~4 minutes apart. Because ~4 minutes multiplied by (for simplicity) ~180 days = 12 hours, there's your explanation.

Some stars you see will be the same, but some won't, and how many stars are the same depends upon where you are. The earth revolves around the sun and rotates on its (tilted) axis with a slight wobble. The earth isn't spinning on multiple axes, so some parts of the sky will always remain visible at night, particularly if you're closer to the poles. At the poles, the night sky won't change much at all from season to season. Generally speaking, as you move farther away from the poles, the more variation there will be from season to season.

If a person tries to argue on rational grounds that it is reasonable to be skeptical of an oblately-spherical Earth because they don't "check it in practice," then in order to be consistent he needs to be skeptical of a litany of other facts he hasn't personally verified.
Some examples may include: the existence of any country they haven't been to; molecules and atoms; bacteria; photons; his own mortality; any image/photo/video of any event they didn't personally witness; etc.
It's easy to see how consistent application of such extreme skepticism would be detrimental to him.

The Earth is a flat disk (like the pizza pie) and the compass needle always points to the center (north). This being so, if you travel east or west you will eventually travel in a circle.

Flat Earth theory as faulty with anomalies, and incorrect. As you mentioned with the 'hallway' things get smaller with distance. With Flat Earth theory the Sun (and Moon) should get smaller and smaller till it vanishes in the distance. The Sun doesn't; it disappears below the horizon at the same size it was when directly overhead. That's only possible with a spherical Earth. And, if the Moon and "Sun were the same size the Moon would appear much larger than the Sun during a solar eclipse and would block out the solar corona; that doesn't happen because the Sun is tremendously larger than the Moon and tremendously farther from Earth than the moon and only appears the same size due to perspective. Try to objectively analyze real data and concrete scientific and mathematical evidence for a spherical Earth at some point and you might learn something.
That's straight bullshit, sometimes it's much larger at sunset than when it's overhead. The atmosphere magnifies the Sun and Moon near the horizon.
Also perspective proves the earth is flat, you can see the Sun shrinking before disappearing past the vanishing point if you're at a high enough altitude to minimize atmospheric distortion and significantly increase the distance to the horizon.
The sun isn't actually larger at the horizon. It's angular size doesn't change, your brain just thinks it does because it's near the horizon instead of overhead. Taking measurements of the sun's angular size will confirm that the angular size is the same on the horizon vs. overhead, despite that it "looks" bigger when it's near the horizon. Atmosphere doesn't have anything to do with this. Ironically, this means it's a trick of perspective. Go figure.
