Do not buy ANYTHING from Butterfly labs or associated with it!! with that 40$ you probably won't even make 5$ worth of bitcoin! Then add electricity?= COMPLETE LOSS I have block eruptors @ 10.7 GHS and they are pretty much shut down because its not WORTH IT! and anything less than a antminer S1 200 ghs just expect to never make any kind of real  money on it even the S1 isn't really profitable but its at least halfway decent but it will be just about worthlless and outdated in a month or 2 or so just like the GPU with the rising Difficulty. For mining to be profitable you need at least a ANTMINER S3 1 Terahertz these days and will cost you a couple thousand and its really not worth it your better off just buying  Bitcoin it will be cheaper! The only company I would trust to buy anything off of is pretty much ANTMINER Bitmain they are the only ones who have lived up too their delivery dates. But even with them you most likely will never make enough coin to repay the investment especially when you  add a power supply and cost of electricity you will make less bitcoin mining then if you took that same cash and just straight out bought it!!
What is your intentions? Do you just want to mine for a side hobby? or the fun of it and be part of the network? Or are you looking to make money? if your looking too make money? Then like I said seriously just use a solid exchange like Bitstamp or Coinbase and Buy some Bitcoin and hold and you will be ahead of the game.ALSo never use a ONLINE WALLET to store Bitcoin EDUCATE YOURSELF on how too store and Protect your BITCOIN and use something like ARMORY to store it!!!
Save yourself the time and money and headache of avoiding scams in the mining industry because you obviously don't know too much? You don't want to learn the hard way!!. If you Buy any mining equipment today?Chances are you will never make a profit and you will LOSE money with cost of machine and power supply and Electricity.Pools are struggling too find blocks also  so there is no GUARANTEE on how much coin you can make even if a calculator tells you  you supposedly can!and it's only going to get worse........
If you want to do it for fun and don't care about the money just want to be part of it? buy a S1 antminer from Bitmain or some USB sticks on Ebay is your best bet just make sure you Buy from a reputable vendor but understand you will never ever make a ROI RETURN OF INVESTMENT or any kind of real amount of coin for a profit and be making pennies and lucky if you break even! You will just be  essentially GAMBLING and doing it for fun.

Whatever design you choose to use? make sure it's legal theirs laws on making coin that can be used as a currency make sure you read up on The laws about  these things? and also seek Professional Legal Advice about doing something like this. http://www.communitycurrencieslaw.org/currency-laws/

U.S. Code › Title 18 › Part I › Chapter 25 › § 489
18 U.S. Code § 489 - Making or possessing likeness of coins

Current through Pub. L. 113-121. (See Public Laws for the current Congress.)

Whoever, within the United States, makes or brings therein from any foreign country, or possesses with intent to sell, give away, or in any other manner uses the same, except under authority of the Secretary of the Treasury or other proper officer of the United States, any token, disk, or device in the likeness or similitude as to design, color, or the inscription thereon of any of the coins of the United States or of any foreign country issued as money, either under the authority of the United States or under the authority of any foreign government shall be fined under this title.

What if he/she is not in the U.S.?
I'm sure other countries have similar laws .Again seek professional legal advice wherever you may reside as Laws vary everywhere.I'm by no means a professional. But there was a case not too long ago where a company created a COLD WALLET for Bitcoin embedded into a coin and they were shutdown by the U.S government because only government can print coins for Legal tender. I can't remember the name of the company though? It's a very thin line when it comes to making any type of coin unless it's commemorative with no value Especially if it can be used for trade or buy things there very well can be trouble with making it.Governments don't like their monopoly infringed on.That's why I say seek Professional Legal advise don't just take my advice nor anybody Else's for that matter wherever you may be because it's better to know in advance for sure? Then before it's too late and you get a unwelcome knock on the door................

Your stats look right for your GPU .Why would you want to mine with a GPU? mining with a GPU is a lost cause this is the age of ASIC MINERS  your about 2 years too late to mine with a GPU.Mining with a GPU is pretty much worthless. The cost of Electricity will cost probably four or five times or more then any coin you can make? You might make a 1$ worth a week if you mine 24 hours a day with the cost of 2$ or so a day in electricity depending on your rates where you live?.
Mining in general has become a lost cause unless you can build a farm and solomine blocks? If you want Bitcoin best advice is too BUY it straight out. You will most likely never ever ROI on any mining equipment that's out today either  as not many companies actually deliver on their promise for delivery and the majority have turned scam and by the time you get it if your so lucky too ? Your mining machine will be close to worthless and already used second hand most likely and with the current rise of Difficulty is a waste of time pretty much. This goes for buying shares of Cloud Mining also unless you have Money to throw away?and making your money back doesn't matter? Then by all means go for it.................

Re: What about bad pool luck? Or maybe it's something else?
by

There could also be the possibility that there is equipment out there can't actually solve a block now? What proof is there that all equipment is capable of achieving a best share in the billions and all chips and mining equipment is equal? We are told it can? But can it really? If so where's the proof? We are just left with X companies word? Many companies could of very well just made short cuts because no one would be able to prove they did and chalk everything up too luck? sha 256 only uses 128 bit memory bus @ 2^128 which is limited to about 16 Billion as a 32 bit address is just approximately only 4 billion @ 2^32 so  it is mathematically impossible for it too use every nonce numbered 1 to 16,800,000,000 at full capacity already it can't use every nonce so a short cut is already made somewhere?.
I have read that there is equipment that is unable to use every nonce? This would make sense as a limiting factor? This might be the limiting factor on much of the equipment today? As earlier mining equipment was built with most likely a use of a limited amount of nonce's as it only needed to solve a best share in the millions and not expected billions? This very well can be the deciding factor of who solves a block or not? and why there is a lack of block finding all around? Because it seems to be clear cut across the network and not just a single pool.
We should have a list of all the mining equipment and compare all companies and  the Best Share achieved on each equipment and which has solved a Block or not and with what if they did? I think then we will get some interesting  clear answers and find out some equipment might have never solved a block or achieved a best share in the billions? There might be companies that sold faulty equipment or just made short cuts on the nonce's the equipment can use?So now at this difficulty it is incapable of solving a block with difficulty so high? Something to think about it? As could very well be the possibility it's not the pools but the equipment we use?

So it turns out that Updown.bt, a gambling site, paid something like $25,000 to become a Bitcoin Foundation sponsor, and now they are ripping off many people by not paying for their signature campaign.  And I'd assume their site is a scam too.  Why would anyone do that?  Do you think they made enough profit to cover the $25,000 they paid?  Is there anything the foundation can do about this?

Foundation could not do anything for the Mt. Gox fiasco. One cant expect them to jump in and make payment for a sig campaign.

I didn't say anything about making payment for a sig campaign.  More like removing any mention of Updown from their materials so they don't perpetuate a fraud.
Why would you continue to promote these scammer's in your sig?  Roll Eyes
The Bitcoin foundation is a complete FRAUD! And has proving this time and time again......History has already proving this fact. The Bitcoin foundation represent nobody except themselves! They are a complete JOKE! They certainly don't represent Bitcoin but represent and enable companies that PAY so they are enabled to scam a very profitable business model. Just look at KNC being able to pay to get BROCk into Office and launch a campaign to Buy Gox for pennies on the dollar along with every bodies lost Bitcoin! Talk about a railroad job on top of the railroad job Shocked Began by Mark another Bitcoin foundation member. The saga just continues and the Scam baton is passed on.......
Then add more insult too injury KNC recent preorder scam enabling them to build trust and in  return? a multi million dollar Mining farm off of people's hard earned money.See how profitable it can be? It's straight out sickening. But people will continue too be blind and drink the KOOL Aid and blinded by HOPE. Because there's a sucker born every minute just waiting to get Goxxed because of GREED and in the end? People will get what they deserve!
They have been forewarned and refuse too listen and will have no one too blame except themselves........

Re: Antminer S1 Soon at a Loss - What to do With It?
by

on 02/07/2014, 16:20:24 UTC
If your a Gambling man?I would undervolt it and try too SOLO Mine with it @ http://bitsolo.net using it in a pool setting actually gives you a fighting chance too actually find a block since your working off the pool's Nonce's instead of Solo mining on your own Nonce's which is most likely not going to cut it at this hashrate.
I believe the S1's are one of the few older newer machines that  can actually solve a block these days? Many of the older machines I don't believe have the NONCE using capacity too even find a share in the BILLIONS? Like Block Eruptors and USB sticks I think they completely lack the technology and Nonce using capabilities and will never find a block at these levels and going forward?I could be wrong? But I have yet too see any proof that they are even capable? and have read many of the older machines are limited with the NONCE'S they can use and apply to solving a block. But the S1 has proven already it can find a share in the Billions unlike the others like this  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=573238.msg6247114#msg6247114.
It's a long shot still but with a real possibility I would think better odds then any STATE lottery? and Hey worth a Gamble for 25 Bitcoins for a small price of electricity undervolted the payoff could be big Wink That's what I'm going to do Grin

The interesting thing about this is? It was legalized as a alternate CURRENCY and not PROPERTY! One now has to wonder what kind of fallout this will have on the IRS?As we all know the IRS declared Bitcoin as Property on a RULING? Which is not LAW and backed by NOTHING! They have nothing to stand on!
The IRS has NO LAW to back this assessment on!Nor does the IRS have the power too ever make LAW or interpret Law on a FEDERAL or STATE level!! LAW must be WRITTEN and SIGNED into order by STATE or STATE'S and CONGRESS!This is good news for Californian's too tell the IRS too FUCK OFF! Because they have a written and signed LAW which trumps a RULING! Which isn't a written and signed LAW and backed by no CONGRESS or STATE Wink

I have to agree as after the next diff increase to be scheduled 25%+ Y'OUCH after that my miners are pretty much done Undecided The only hope then becomes SOLO MINING and catching Lightning to come ahead. The real culprit here is EXCHANGES!!! They are the DEATH OF US........ And Yes we only have ourselves to blame!!!! Because we gave our Bitcoin to those who have MONEY and and all these PUMP and DUMP chumps care about is FIAT! not BITCOIN! We gave them THE POWER TOO KEEP BITCOIN DOWN!!! If only PEOPLE HODL? IT might of been a different story........... BUT anyone that sold BITCOIN FOR CASH? YOU ARE TO BLAME....... and companies like BITPAY they are destroying not helping Bitcoin because they SELL IT RIGHT BACK and keep BITCOIN DOWN it will never rise like it should with these companies and with RICH people able to take Bitcoin from MINERS hands THE JOKE"S ON US!! We do all the work buy the equipment, pay for electricity and with a couple thousand dollars they just REBUY and DUMP IT DOWN and us MINERS are the ones left HOLDING THE BAG...........
Maybe the next generation if Miners will LEARN ? NOT TO SELL........but with companies like GHASH in play that's highly unlikely and noww it's way too late ........... So we only have ourselves to blame and Yes Miners will say " I HAD TO MAKE ROI" you should of learned some simple ECONOMICS beforehand! ANY TIME YOU SELL YOU DEVALUE! People shot themselves in the FOOT ! GAURANTEEING NEVER TO HAVE ROI because they couldn't LET GO OF THE FIAT!!When BITCOIN was suppose to replace it!!!!! DUH.........Only if they HOLDED on to their BITCOIN would we have a different story! We were THE FRONTLINE it was up too US and we FAILED MISERABLY because we couldn't LET GO OF THE FIAT Cry This is why SATOSHi probably left BITCOIN because HIS DREAM for  BITCOIN ? WAS TO REPLACE FIAT! NOT SELL IT FOR FIAT Roll Eyes

I'll pick ElIGIUS all day with CPPSRB if you mine for awhile and stick with it! you get paid for shelved shares from months ago which can be over twice to 3 times the worth of shares today and with a Pool Operator that is ACTIVE in the community and actually cares! You can't put a price on that Wink I'll take that anyday over making a measley couple % more on junk coins. There's more important things than making the most ROI in life! I've been mining with Eligius for a long time, but have spent the last 24 hours with "this user's payout in our next block."  Over and over again, it does not happen.  Given that there is no pool fee, I am not in any way complaining, but I'm confused - one or two times, sure, but over and over again?  Stats link: http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1FrAmpQVXzCiNiNdZ1E1deFZQgnZuYZqzA

Still listed as "in our next block," but never actually is.  Is the default of 0.04194304 hardcoded somewhere as a minimum?  Will hit that soon and see what happens.
yeah it's the default minimum payout when you first set up a account if you don't change anything. You most likely won't see a payout until after the .041 I've seen it  can go as high as .055 even that's why it's best to set minimums higher up because you will end up waiting that long anyway depending on when your last payout was? and how much your due to get paid ?if you just had a low balance payout your next payout is almost always going to be longer because many people set theirs weekly and their going to have a higher priority for waiting longer. Low end payouts usually only go through on time if you haven't been paid in awhile then it will give you a higher priority but if you just  received a payout within 2 or 3 days you don't get a high priority again and people who set longer payouts will  always jump ahead of you. It's the price we pay for 0% we just have to wait a little longer but you still get paid the same.
Set your payouts to .05 or higher and you should get your payouts on time or at least a block or 2 afterwords just .02 and .03 is such a small amount compared to majority of other payouts the chances of someone else due payment who waited longer is much higher because many people will wait a week for payment for larger amounts. The same thing happened to me when trying low payouts one payment would go through and then if another payment came up a couple days later it would just keep getting bumped in the que until  somewhere around .04 to .05 for the next payment paid so you might as well just set it there because chances are that's when you'll get paid anyway and if you set the payment higher you won't have to deal with getting bumped in the que due to being low priority.so it will save you the frustration of having to deal with that.
I set my payments to .09 and haven't had any issues with being bumped in que I get paid when suppose to if not  then get paid the next block with a little extra. if you want regular payouts without having to be bumped in the Que ?Higher payouts are the way to go where you won't have to worry about being bumped in que and waiting longer will give you high priority and keep you from being frustrated Wink otherwise you can expect to be bumped constantly and not be sure  if you will make that next block payout with lower then default payouts are set.

Whiz was provided a signature by someone but it wasn't BRUCIE  he did not own the addresses! He was just a paid shill sent to broker the scam and convince people of no wrong doing....... He stated himself TREAT ME AS  A VOLUNTEER to speak for the real owners to speak on their behalf ?

Bottom line he was just someone most likely a PAID PR  paid to speak on  behalf of the supposed miner group he was a SHILL.As he can say he never did anything wrong ?and would be telling the truth while being able too cover THE LIE !As He never owned the addresses to begin with....... so everything he had to say was irrelevant he didn't own the addresses so he really had no right to say anything about the situation all his credibility was out the window at that point! Even if he was giving power to speak? Why couldn't the real owners speak for themselves? because they would be clearly lying and would get caught up in their own lies like LIARS ALWAYS DO....So better to find someone else to speak for you so they aren't lying and maybe believe what they were told so in theory they won't be lying? get someone else and CLAIM THEY ARE IT someone who believes THE LIE because only then they can present it as TRUTH since they believe  the lie to begin with! He only claimed he was giving Power to Speak with absolute no Proof of it also? But seemed to know enough to convince people of the situation...... Your payouts are pretty small under the normal default of .041 and when you have your payouts set that low you can expect delays in your payout especially if you just had a payout within the past couple days someone who hasn't been paid recently with a bigger payout will jump the que ahead of you almost all the time. Also if you suddenly change your minimum pay out this can set you back in the que this has happened too me so I've learned to set my payouts higher.I've found the sweet spot is usually setting payouts  @ .05 .06 or higher
I set my payouts a week  or more worth of mining since I'm in no rush and now never experience any wait now. If you have a higher payout less frequent you should expect no delays unless a whale jumps ahead of you but if it happens it usually isn't long until you get paid next and your next payout will be a lil more then you set it at to compensate.
