Hey guys. I got a blue screen yesterday and eversince my boards dont get up to my max speeds. I used to mine 720 and 220 with my 2 boards.. now i get 560ish and 210ish..which are pretty much the default speeds of the 2 boards I have. what's up with that? I'm using the exact same .bat files as before...nothing changed..

Something is extremely iffy with this pool my confirmed exchange balance is 9.02E-6 what does that even mean!

I hope you were joking..if you weren't and you really dont understand the format.. you shouldnt be mining coins...

Yeah.. I agree with some of the posts above. Time to get rid of DOGE..it will sink faster than it rose. I sold some on ebay. I'll cash out some more today..and then go back to auto trade. very nice profits so far ! Now the important point is to find the next DOGE coin.. which ALT will perform like DOGE did? Any suggestions ? Anything heard ? Anything read somewhere on the net?

PS: since we're mining DOGE on hashcows my gpu temperatures are a bit higher than before. my fans run at higher RPMs... does it have to do with the difficulty of the coin  ? with the number of shares sent ?
Thanks !

Can anyone who has a better understanding on how profitability is calculated explain to beginners like me ? I assume it's not as simple as value of the coin relative to BTC and difficulty of the coin. I'm having trouble understanding how it works..I check the last rounds and it seems pretty obvious that certain coins never yield more than 0.0000xx (4 zeroes) whereas others yield 0.000xxx (3 zeroes) for the same amount of time. (and for my 950 kh). I also understand there's a luck factor involved..however I dont see why we would switch from a coin producing say 0.000xxx in 1 hour to 0.0000xx in the same period of time..can't we keep on rolling on that one ? What changed so that the algorithm decided that the 2nd coin is better?

thanks in advance..im just trying to understand how it works

i know i've read somewhere that you can add extra flags for backup pool. i assume you can just do the regular -u username -p pass -o URL:port. not sure tho.

why not change to cgminer? once you get the hang of it..much easier to configure

Here are my earnings for the last 10 days

0.00858026   12/12/2013
0.01768683   11/12/2013
0.00730129   10/12/2013
0.02028866   09/12/2013
0.0171497   08/12/2013
0.00809126   07/12/2013
0.01238962   06/12/2013
0.02172553   05/12/2013
0.0100862   04/12/2013
0.01078565   03/12/2013

Giving an average of BTC0.0134 per day

This is on 800ish Kh/s spread over 3 cards & 3 virtualised CPU machines (I know!)

Yesterday was made worse by me spending some time tuning my card performances & I crashed one of the machines with 400Kh/s for about 4 hours.

I see that your payouts follow mine in a certain sense. for the past few days.one day is higher..one is lower..one is higher..another one lower.. and so on. it alternates.

Ok a few updates on my side. Since yesterday I took out the backup pool. Yes I do lose connection when coins switch however it's brief..~30 seconds or so. Not a big deal. Since I can monitor my home rig via remote desktop I'm not really worried about the pool being down for a long period of time. It's more problematic during the night. If the pool really goes down..I will lose some time. Anyway

In terms of profitability.. according to litecoin calculator if i mine LTC at current difficulty and at 950kh I will be earning 0.31 coins per day. At an exchange rate of ~ 0.035 BTC/LTC... that comes out to be 0.01085 BTC / day. Take out some conversion/withdrawal fees..and I'll probably be left with 0.01..or maybe 0.009xx. Not to mention the time spent to withdraw coins from a pool, deposit them in xchange website, withdraw BTC.
Note: The LTC difficulty recently increased..so maybe my LTC profit calculations are a little lower..however at the previous difficulty I was mining 0.35 coins/day which is the equivalent of 0.012 BTC. However since we all care about the future...LTC difficulty is only gonna go up. Value..no idea.

Now, I've been mining on hashcows since Sunday (Dec Cool. However Dec 11-12 I had a failover to LTC so basically for every coin switch i would mine 5 minutes on my backup LTC. here are my results after all fees.  NET results:

0.00586563
0.01470448
0.00674348
0.01443159
0.00909768

Total: 0.05084 over a total of 5.5 days. On top of this my backup pool generated: 0.162 LTC (0.005 BTC). not to mention the fact that hashcows and exchange websites had problems over the past few days. So overall I would say hashcows is doing pretty well. So far i get the results im expecting. Sure, payouts are not cosntant on a daily basis..so that's why I suggest you mine for a few days before complaining.

For the time being I'm sticking with hashcows. equal or slightly smaller profits but with less of a headache.

Keep it up guys !

Yeah ..even tho the news says it's working..i doubt it. my confirmed is half what it should be at my hash rate..and the unexchanged..thats very small still doesnt add up properly. no panic yet. let's wait for the payout.

im using 3.7.2. yes the 5 min is default for failover. which is fine i guess. however im not sure why it kept disconnecting. i saw it at least 10 times on my backup pool during the day.and everytime it was for only 5 minutes, which means your pool was not down for long. but for some reason i seem to lose connection every once in a while. and no its not my internet.

yeah i saw Smiley well thats good news Smiley  not sure why..but every once in a while..maybe a couple of times an hour i get disconnected..says pool not responding..and it takes me to my backup. for 5 minutes..then comes back. seems to happen systematically. not sure if it's when rounds end..or whatever..but it seems to happen. ill try to track it

hashcows pool failover

My miners keep going to the backup every few minutes. seems very constant. is hashcows really failing all those times? or is it just when it switches coins ?.. i have no idea why it's happening but it's really annoying because with the 5 minute failover..i'm stuck mining on my backup for 5 minutes before I go back to hashcows

Re: Multiple GPU's in CGMINER

In my post on this thread (which still has 0 replies  Sad  )  i asked if it would be possible to have 2 folders of cgminer, each with its own conf file. If yes, would each conf file need to specify double parameters ? or just the ones for that GPU. Also..how do you mention which GPU is which if you were to do that ? basically..what's the -d equivalent in conf files ?

you start 2 instances of cgminer. each with its own settings. check this forum i posted a few questions regarding this. i still have to figure out some things.

Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -u user.6850 -p pass -o [Suspicious link removed]:8888 -u user.6850 -p pass -o coinotron.com:3334 --thread-concurrency 6144 -w 256 -v 1 -I 16 -g 1 --temp-target 75 --lookup-gap 2 --auto-fan [b]-d 0[/b]

Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -u user.7970 -p pass -o [Suspicious link removed]:8888 -u user.7970 -p pass -o coinotron.com:3334 --thread-concurrency 6144 -w 256 -v 1 -I 16 -g 1 --temp-target 75 --lookup-gap 2 --auto-fan [b]-d 1[/b]

you cannot do all this in one conf file unless both your GPUs require the same number of GPU-THREADS. if your gpus require 2 different numbers of threads then you cant do it in CONF file because the GPu-THREADS parameter only takes 1 argument. can't pass two

cgminer with 2 different gpu's
by

Hey guys,

Just wanted to share my experience and ask a few questions in the progress.
I have 2 GPUs : 6850 and R9 280x which out of convenience I called 7970.

I'm relatively new to mining and I've been using GuiMiner for about a week. A few days ago I decided to switch to CGMiner.

Given the Gpu-Threads variable cannot have more than one argument, I have to start 2 instances of cgminer. no problem.
I've been using command line like this:

Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -u worker7970 -p pass  -o hashcows pool :8888 -u worker7970 -p pass -o coinotron.com:3334 --thread-concurrency 8192 -w 256 -v 1 -I 13 -g 2 --temp-target 75 --lookup-gap 2 --auto-fan -d 1

Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -u worker6850 -p pass -o hashcows pool:8888 -u worker6850 -p pass-o coinotron.com:3334 --thread-concurrency 6144 -w 256 -v 1 -I 16 -g 1 --temp-target 75 --lookup-gap 2 --auto-fan -d 0

Everything works fine however I have a few questions which I hope will make clearer for me:

1. If I want to use the CONF file with 2 GPU's, would I need to make 2 folders with cgminer, each with its own conf file ?
2. If 1 is true, then in each conf file do you need to specify parameters for 2 GPU's ? How do you make it such that one gpu is disabled? again the use of the "-d" parameter ?
3. When you start cgminer twice with commands like the ones above, 1 starts for: GPU0 enabled, GPU1 disabled,  and the 2nd is vice versa. I read somewhere that in each instance you need to turn off Auto-Fan for the disabled GPU. True or False ? ANd if True, is there any way to automate that ? ( I assume it's easier in the conf file)
4.  is it possible that when hashcows changes coins the pool is seen as "dead" and it switches to my backup ? I set failover-only to make sure it only switches when it's been dead for 1 minute.
5. in GUI miner I could set TC to 11200 for my 7970. In cgminer it fails..says something about memory. Anything to do with RAM ? And why does it work in GUI and not in CG ?

Thanks guys !
