This pool seems to be ONLY for the people who spent megabucks on mining equipment.

Their web page should have a warning that you can mine for MONTHS and never see a penny.

Unfortunately a lot of software is written for OLD linux versions; and require OLD drivers like Catalyst 12.15.
Many new hardware simply do not work with old linux's, hence the old catalyst cannot be installed on them.
Keep looking for more modern mining software, I'm gonna try Minergate's for example..

Catalyst 12.15 is ancient:  it requires old Linux OS versions to install, and old Linux's do not necessarily support new motherboards/CPU's.
I have that problem right now.

Is there an update planned for newer AMD drivers?
Many thanks.. -t

No, that's not working. Probably GPU returning bad results.. Check your drivers.

I just bought a couple of RX580's.  Is it still possible to get these to run with Claymore under Linux?

It seems that the Linux software is too new for any driver software that I can get my hands on.
Drivers keep complaining that my Xorg is too new, or that dkms code cannot be installed because some structure member no longer exists in the kernel headers, etc. The only driver that installed fine, the amdgpu-pro-17.50-511655.tar.xz  and the AMD-APP-SDK 3, do not seem to be supported by Claymore.

Just having a tough time..

Many thanks for your assistance.

I have since invested in a couple of RX 580's and trying to get them to work.

The operating system on that machine, Fedora 27, appears to be too new for these endeavours.
For example, I just tried to install the 15.12, and it gives:

Code:
error: Detected X Server version 'XServer 1.19.5_64a' is not supported. Supported versions are X.Org 6.9 or later, up to XServer 1.10 (default:v2:x86_64:lib:XServer 1.19.5_64a:none:4.9.9-200.fc25.x86_64:)
Installation will not proceed.

Whereas the newest driver, the amdpro-gpu 17.50 , is the only AMD driver that will install without problems; and even for that to work, I had to go back to the kernel of February 2017.

For a short while yesterday I got the Claymore miner to work. But after a reboot, it started saying that:

Code:
./ethdcrminer64: /lib64/libcurl.so.4: no version information available (required by ./ethdcrminer64)
     Claymore's Dual ETH + DCR/SC/LBC/PASC GPU Miner v10.2
ETH: 1 pool is specified
AMD OpenCL platform not found
No NVIDIA CUDA GPUs detected.
No AMD OPENCL or NVIDIA CUDA GPUs found, exit

I have tried most software that AMD offers, including 3 versions of the AMD APP SDK, and about four versions of the display drivers. What I got to work yesterday for a short while, I cannot seem to duplicate again.
Most frustrating.

I bought 3 U3's, 2 of them died within a few months.
I tried different power supplies, it did not help.

Theose two devices are detected by Linux as being UART controllers, but the software (cgminer) gives usb_init errors.
The third device works well.. still does.

Any ideas what to do for those two?
Thanks!

SUGGESTION:

Could someone program CGMINER (I can write it too if you'd like) so that if all ASIC miners have disappeared, some shell script is run?
I'd like to reboot if that's the case to prevent dead air time.

PS: I've been an OS/2 supporter and lover for a long time until IBM quit it. I still have shareware utils that I wrote under OS2. After that, I switched to Linux.

Many thanks,

CGMiner is pretty resilient when a device zombies.  You probably need to find out why it's "disappearing" in the first place.

The latest version of OS/2 is called ArcaOS which was release in May of this year.  Check it out for nostalgia if nothing else Smiley

Thanks! The DEVICE itself is crappy -- Antminer U3. It goes zombie or disappears altogether once in a while.. Nothing wrong with CGMiner..
That's why I need a way to restart when that happens.. I even wrote code + hardware to power off and on the antminers at startup!

Wow, ArcaOS - I didn't know that.. Thanks a lot Smiley
I did install regular Warp once under Linux Virtualbox, and it ran fine Smiley

I have an interesting case: My HD6870 is a 1GB card.

Driver 15.12 fails to install; it appears to install, but does not work.
After trying many different drivers I found that 15.20 both works and is recognised by the mining software.

Trying to mine zcash from slushpool,  I constantly get GPU errors saying
GPU #0 returned incorrect data!

I tried -i 0 , -power and many other settings like -old, nothing helped.
What do you suggest I do? Many thanks!

Just to confirm, you are using the 6870 as the display source, right?

The 6870 is getting awfully old, have you considered whether or not it is worth mining with at all?

Yes, it's a regular PC so far. If I can get it to work, then I'll venture onto something more exotic, multiple display adaptors,  etc.  I already have the hardware; so I thought I'd get it a try, but the driver nightmare seems unsurmountable..

Many thanks for your assistance. The etherium software states that it needs the 15.12 drivers..
I tried the 15.12 radeon drivers, but they fail to work on my HD 6870.
It installs fine, I reboot, and the screen resolution stays crappy, and the radeon settings icon is nowhere to be found and no software can detect an OpenCL on my system.

Newer drivers do install better, setting the screen resolution and "surviving" a reboot.
However the mining software only finds the AMD CPU as the OpenCL source.

Cannot find a decent configuration for GPU mining
by

on 21/12/2017, 15:08:15 UTC
Hi folks. I have an AMD machine with an ATI HD 6870 card. I have both Fedora 27 and Windows 8.1 loaded.
For some reason I cannot find a winning combination where the software would recognise the hardware.
I was told that Windows was easier to set up, even that's causing problems -- the miner software, no matter which one I tried,
never can find the GPU.

I tried the AMD APP SDK 2.9 and 3.0.
I tried radeon crimson beta 16.2, Win7 Crimson relive beta blockchains, win10 crimson relive beta blockchain..
I tried older drivers -- the really old ones cannot detect this hardware unfortunately.
I tried guiminer, easyminer, cgminer..

I would appreciate your assistance in finding something that WORKS..
(Yeah, I realize GPU mining won't amount to much..)
Thanks!

Hi there. I have two AU3 devices attached to a machine, but when I launch cgminer, it says that I have an ANU and an AU3 device..
How can I convince it that they are both AU3?  Thanks! -t
Did you try hypnosis or asking it very nicely?

Actually, I think zadig would work better, did you zadig them both and unplug/replug after?

Many thanks; This is linux, so I'm not using any USB drivers apart from those that came with Centos..

3 U3 antminers, only 2 working
by

Hi there. I have 3 identical devices, all hooked up to a usb hub, and that hub connects to a port on the Fedora 22 computer running cgminer  4.9.2.

When it first started, the cgminer was seeing all the devices, but now, without changing any configuration,  it says that one of them is inactive.

Bus 2 Device 6 ID: 10c4:ea60 Silicon Labs CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller Active
Bus 2 Device 5 ID: 10c4:ea60 Silicon Labs CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller Active
Bus 2 Device 4 ID: 10c4:ea60 Silicon Labs CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller inactive

and therefore, it only sees 2 devices running and the mining has slowed down by 1/3.
I tried USB  Enable,  Whitelist, etc, nothing helped.. Power off/on was tried many times as well.

The 3 devices look OK physically. Power supply LED's lit, device LED's lit, fans running.

What else should I check?
Thanks! -t
