Some dump, some do not, it is almost a shame to sell for very little and not give a chance for the said project to lead to fruition, but this is the choice of the holders and often leaves more meat on the bone for the HODLERS  Cool

Re: What are your plans for this year

Everyone keeps saying 2019 will be profitable for the crypto community... but in life I've had to learn things the hard way.. which makes me always want to look into things in 2 ways no matter the odds

What if 2019 is the beginning of another dump?? What would you do as a investor?? Wait till your portfolio goes to zero?? ... or sell whatever is left of it??

Really and truly we have been here before - you can either be strong, HODL, stake and gleen the rewards or just sell your holdings at a loss and say BYE BYE to this often strange but exciting world of crypto we have all become involved in.

You only ever lose out when you sell overall. Keep HODLING I say  Cool

HELL NO. The bankers can try all they will but they will always be distant from the real crypto comings and goings on the scene....

Re: SHOW NO MERCY TO SCAMMERS!

I think we need FRAUD LISTING thread on Bitcointalk forum to fight scammers and bounty hunters need to come together as ONE ,they are the ones Help PROMOTING all this fake projects ,they should be able to warn each other when a fake/scam project get launched on the forum and get the scam project banned off the forum ,we should all remember that the more fake projects are been launched of this forum right under our noses the more cryptocurrency will keep looking bad and NEWBIES are the victims most times ,we investors and bounty hunters have the power to make BITCOINTALK FORUM BETTER.

UPDATE!

As a NEWBIE I never knew we have a scam accusation thread on here ,so newbies like me and for those who doesn't know please let's keep the thread alive ,I believe this will safe many newbies from falling victims
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

Around 80% of ICOs last year were scams that have now dissolved, with further regulation and potential investors furtherment of education - less and less people are being caught up, but they still are - if you see and can advise then do help others before they end up in peril. Whatever projects or wherever we are from - we are all in this together and it does not take much to help others..

proccessor is too weak, ram can probaby be sweapped out but an i3 or higer is best for rigs now due to algos like mtp

The processor does not matter as the GPUS are the main reason for this rig, you could probably still mine on the CPU, one extra hash is one extra hash, right?

It only has to do one job, is not a media centre or gaming PC... Nice looking unit anyway, looks well made too. Would be good if there were a choice of PSUs if you did not want to utilize or need all that power.

A quick look at the ION ecosystem

No drastic change in ION masternodes hosting over last 3 months...

How so very out of touch you are, and a liar.

Have you seen relative markets or are your eggs all in one basket? - Billions have gone in MC across crypto, if you had not noticed - yet you still bitch like a girl but yet don't add to the cause (thankfully)

You have not got one IONa Wild Onion Sharp, you dumped most of your HODLings and certainly am no part of the ION community you talk of -  and NEVER will be again, on the one hand you are full of praise, then the next full of criticism - it's just what is in your head and now your heart is hurting as you are an ever constant drain on yourself.

You know of little news, game releases, IIP votes (as you cannot as LIED about voting before as sold your MNs) What else are you missing out on???   Roll Eyes

Remember the days of you 'Giving family and friends gifts from selling ION', How you showed your celebration...how short-sighted was that, the apitamy of it all is almost saddening.

What a useless buckled 'man' you are full of disdane and sadness. The only outlet is here now as you have been banned from everywhere else, pretty much..

Even the trolls try to stay on track here - Thanks for that. But you, you're a fairy in a jar. WILD ONION SHARPIE.

All the above is fact, from your posts here, and I can put some more stuff up if you like? (I have some secret sauce and it's got your name/ screenshots on it)  Wink

It's nearly that time = back to your Tiki bar to load up on spirits, maybe get a bit wild in the wilderness for you then...

Oh, btw no one really cares here but is still a good active thread that is high on the BTCtalk list! Keep up the good work everyone (Not Wild Sharpie as his work was NEVER good or even to a standard).

Re: Is Bitcoin too difficult to understand?
by

on 06/11/2018, 21:49:14 UTC
So I was watching "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and I came across a video where Jimmy is talking about Bitcoin's Birthday  " Thank you, Bitcoin for turning 10 years today this week which is the exact amount of time it takes for someone to explain it to me what the hell Bitcoin is".
Also, I know it was meant as a joke but don't you think this explains facts in a humorous way!
I feel like the biggest problem with Bitcoin is the "understanding" of it.
What do you think?
If you want to watch the video, here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3Hma8DKXS8&t=100s
(0:53----1:07)

Bitcoin and the Altcoins are very complicated, even the definitions and acronyms can vary, but there are a whole set of standards to adhere to varying from security protocols to working the clients and advanced features such as Staking and Masternodes (With Proof or Stake)

There is much to learn, but a little at a time and each day will all add up to a working knowledge of Crypto and it's differations.

Sometimes this assumed barrier can stop advancing ourselves and others, there is an absolute wealth of information available from wiki articles, reviews on products, statistics and so on.

Re: Bitcoin is just one coin...
by

on 06/11/2018, 21:40:17 UTC
Keep calm and stop to see this as an exchange... We all realise that Satoshi made a wonderful economic system that's changing the world right now. More than 75% of bitcoiners is taking this like a bubble, where you should buy and go off when you earn the enough or till you "grow rich". Let´s realise the real insight of Satoshi was to make payment system method clearing the need to trust in a thirdparty and to clear the double spent in transactions. Let´s start to use the Bitcoin as it should do be taken and realise that another incredible advance is the Blockchain technology.

I am seeing many people getting worry because of Bitcoin is going down its price, this kind of people should read the Bitcoins whitepaper, and to stop to treat bitcoin as another fiat currency. This is just a thought about all I am watching in this forum and in others social sites where people is just taking this as another exchange to make trading and they are´nt watching what we have in hands. The chance to change the world literally and the opportunity to make worth the economy worldwide...

 Smiley Smiley Smiley

Well said and yes there are other coins aside from Bitcoin, there are many Altcoins, some have far superior protocols and features that are built on and improve the functionality, of course not all these tokens are a good deal, it is up to potential investors to research and make good decisions on which Alt to hold / trade with and so on..

Firstly, you must research the team and their background, other projects and achievements / milestones and overall working product features..

It is a lot to take on board but with proper background research, you could save yourself from a potential pitfall.

Re: China can destroy bitcoin

51% is what we are really talking about, right?

China cannot destroy Bitcoin but it could damage is, we suppose. But why would they anyway? Surely this would be like killing the Golden Goose...

In time with the difficulty rise, it will be difficult for some to continue mining if they pay for electricity, may mining rigs on that note run on Hydropower and reusable resources so this is of little concern.

No one really knows the future of Bitcoin or the Altcoins, perhaps China may switch to other Cryptos if BTC mining becomes unprofitable?

Re: Is cryptocurrency helping spread child sexual abuse?
by
tokexchain
on 03/11/2018, 21:12:49 UTC
Pedophiles and criminals engaged in child cybersex are proliferating in the Philippines as the cybersex industry becomes more sophisticated and profitable despite numerous crackdowns both by local and foreign authorities, according to a report by Channel News Asia.

Citing a study by the Financial Coalition Against Child Pornography and the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children titled Cryptocurrency and the BlockChain, it said that encrypted payment systems involving cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin are driving the proliferation of live-streaming child sexual abuse. On average, live abuse or when a user instructs the children to perform sexual acts, cost around 10 Bitcoins when it was still worth $10,000, but a live-stream view-only would cost one Bitcoin.

What are people's thoughts on this? Do you believe it is helping the industry or is it just incidental?

Source of the stats : https://cryptovest.com/news/cryptocurrency-helping-spread-sexual-child-abuse-in-the-philippines/

There has always been a history of child abuse / trafficking and so on, coming out of the Philippines, just because some sex offenders use digital currencies, does not mean it helps spread this disgusting behaviour, it is just a means of money, as is PayPal, Western Union and even cash...

Re: At what price will a coin die?
by
tokexchain
on 03/11/2018, 21:09:37 UTC
What is the price at which a coin is considered dead or when an exchange decides to delist the coin?
Like bitcoin was 20k in jan so if it reaches less than 1k we can consider it dead?

Tokens do trade for just a few sats up to many many thousands, there is no set standard for an exchange to delist, they still make money on the fees unless of course all the market activity ends, say on an announcement that further work on the protocols and standards are not to be continued, for instance. This development work is key to a digital tokens ongoing life and this is also the reason for the most popular of these being at such a good price per token.

Most of the times when an exchange announces a delisting, this is usually to do with the ending of a tokens development, sometimes even; the blockchain has problems, the exchange reaches out to the developers and with no response, there is no choice but to delist.

There are many other reasons too...

Re: Where do you learn crypto?
by

on 02/10/2018, 14:59:11 UTC
Guys, I've been looking for good resources to read more about blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Can you recommend me anything? Where do you learn? Which youtubers do you follow? Any advice?

You are in the right place, but research everything, find the facts as there are many different opinions. Crypto takes a long time to learn but there are many resources such as wikis and community groups, and even meet ups these days in your local area. There are also many not so great sources of information, and many scams too. If something is too good to be true, it probably is just that. Boards such as these are a great way to discuss any project and it's footings, team, background and developmental fortitude. Be safe and of course, never invest what you cannot afford to lose..

Re: Transaction from Summer 2010
by
tokexchain
on 25/09/2018, 07:18:23 UTC
Can anyone explain what would happen if I created a wallet in 2010 and someone sent coins to the wallet address, gave me a tx number that I stuck in and hit receive, shut the wallet down and left Bitcoin demon running ( It probably didn't sync with the network) and went to work. When I got home the power had been off and the computer was off, I never had it back online since then.  I looked on the block chain at old addresses and don't see that amount around the time it happened.

If the transaction was successful, there is no need to even boot up a client or wallet (for years if you don't want to), once you start the client and fully sync the blockchain, the coins will be there. Have you checked the blockexplorer?

Re: What coins have good masternodes?
by
tokexchain
on 25/09/2018, 06:38:58 UTC
With Proof of stake coins, sometimes you can profit more by staking as opposed to masternode set rewards (I know, but it is how they are designed)

So if you invest in a staking / Masternode coin, do check the network MN / Staking linear scale, anything of 50% sway one way, and you could do well.

Of course with staking the more coin you hold on the network with accrued active time, the more of a chance of a stake or reward - the networks will always adapt / change difficulty etc but as long as you are taking part (and the wallet is unlocked for staking) you are in with a chance of a reward.

Keep on staking!

Re: Mining with a Laptop?

on 25/09/2018, 06:30:36 UTC
I actually got 2 old computers(that are way worse than laptop) But they dont really start up. So in order to buy them new  things to make them  work again it would be a huge investment for me(i am only 19 without a job currently).
Should i use  My laptop..? my friend told me that its a bad idea because it wont mine enough btc   and its just not worth.
 my laptop has these
8Gb Ram
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4510U CPU @ 2.00GHz 2.60 GHz
64 bit...?
I am not an expert at this tbh . Any opinion/reply will be appreciated !! Thanks a lot

Laptops and small devices (with little airflow) are not designed for constant processor threads and will get hot then possibly overheat, lift solder and all sorts of other heat damage can occur.

Of course, you could still mine with the machine, at a reduced rate, turn down affinity on CPU mining software or reduce the thread / footprint.

This is still a good way to take part, even if not at 100% - worth a go still  Cool

And if you do use the machine for data intensive processes, make sure there is free space under the laptop for adequate airflow as many a time these machines have burnt out (with normal use) just because of being put on a table / sofa / bed and the vents blocked - the heat has to go somewhere and is better in than out!

Re: Protect your private key to keep it safe
by
tokexchain
on 24/09/2018, 16:24:27 UTC
Private key is a keyword or code consisting of many letters which also proves that the private owner of the key has a digital wallet such as ethereum, bitcoin, and so on. Losing the private key can be fatal to your wallet, you may lose the balance and token in the wallet, so keep your key private if you don't want it to happen to you.

As a private key owner, you must be careful of fake sites that want your private key, this case has often happened to some people, they don't know that they have been fooled by scammers. These fake sites can resemble crypto markets, exchange sites, and many other types of sites that are very harmful to your private key, check it out before you enter the site you visit, it is very important for you so that you don't fall into trap of scammers.

Do not let you be easily fooled by someone's trickery, because crime is not only in one room, in social media the criminals do their actions to take your wealth, I have seen a G-Mail that contains a giveaway token, there is a form link available, however ... after I observed that the form contained fake exchange links, this is unfortunate if someone did not know and just handed the private key in the hands of the scammers, it would be very detrimental if we got fooled and lost all the results of the wallet we have.

Save it, do not give your private key to anyone, because the private key that you have is your future, if you lose it, then all your dreams will be forfeited instantly, thank you,

Also just to add to this, a real private key or seed backup is safer than a wallet.dat file that can be easily corrupted (and also keep on a backup device away from the computer, or perhaps two, for safety).

Re: Why do people need to use Bitcoin for Money laundering?
by
tokexchain
on 19/08/2018, 07:46:36 UTC
Because bitcoin is perfect tool for money laundering its cheap and very anonymous nobody will trade you if you will use mixers and service like that.

Bitcoin is the PERFECT tool? Surely a coin like XMR, or even a Zerocin based protocol would be a better choice, mixing or not - BTC can of course be traced back through the blockchain more than you think.

Also, what do you mean by "nobody will trade you if you will use mixers and service like that" - If I need to buy BTC, I do not check the blockchain to see whether it has come from a single or multi input, why would anyone do this? Look at that money in your pockets, do you think only law abiding people have used and handled that only, maybe even those coins have been mixed and tumbled with others to dilute and create level of anonymity ?

Re: Is Bitcoin A Perfect Choice For Most First-Time Investors?
by
tokexchain
on 08/08/2018, 08:35:25 UTC
The demand for bitcoin is increasing. Bitcoin has become the foremost way of investment not only for the business owners but also for the job seekers. As per the recent study, almost 30% of Millennials would prefer having a thousand dollars worth of Bitcoin than stocks or bonds.
For the First-Time Investors, it would be a little bit better if they start off with the downside. Bitcoin is much less risky than other cryptocurrencies. Moreover,  a lot of first-time investors who begin with cryptocurrencies have a very limited perception of risk.  Few months back there really hasn't been that many big draw downs in Bitcoin that haven't been immediately reversed and we don't know maybe that same thing is  gonna happen here as well so a lot of them have profits that outweigh their initial investments in a ratio of ten to one meaning that even if the market saw a decline of 80 percent they still would have performed or outperformed by investing in Bitcoins.

There are many offerings for many ideas, BITCOIN is BITCOIN but there are many other choices of Blockchain technology, if you are thinking of investing in any ICO - please do read the post at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4781040.msg43166012#msg43166012
