I noticed in the digital goods section you can sell bitcointalk forum accounts https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=234.0
?

Doesn't that just promote scamming, deception and spam on the site?

Begs the Question, are they still moving within a legal framework?

ICO happened with this
Quote
60 million + 12 million + 18million = ~90 million
60 million - is the Pre-sale.
12 million - is the dev fund, 0.2coins per 1 coin sold in the crowdsale.
~18 million - 1 million coins mined per month for 18 months prior to going from POW to POS.

Now is already over 92 Million and now end in sight.

far out i had no idea so many were from the ico that's insane

you actually have it wrong, it wouldn't be less transactions, a lot of ethereum would be locked up so there would be less big transactions but more smaller transactions, the market cap would go up insane because there's less supply, and less supply means higher demand. the problem with it is people can then just lock up their ethereum and get paid in pos and just sell their earnings from pos for ridiculously high prices so while the rich get richer for doing nothing the people actually using ethereum for smart contracts end up having to spend stupid amount of money and fees. while all the people that have their ethereum locked up have to do is sit on their greedy fat ass's while they get paid for doing nothing

Interesting hypothesis, any studies or solid observation to back this up?
It's my belief from studying how pos works and how ethereum plans on implementing it. Of course I'm always happy for people to have input if they think other wise for some reason. Not trying to act like a know it all this is just based on what i know.

Switching to POS will mean a lot for Ethereum, a lot of miners will just mine something else (ETC?). What this will give to Ethereum nobody knows, I can suppose less miners = less transactions, less transactions = less market cap, less market cap = less support walls, less support walls = crush of the price. Please note that I don't have a degree in economics, it is my humble opinion.

the whole proof of stake situation is tricky, many people including myself are totally against proof of stake, but yes the ethereum foundation has said they would like ethereum to go pos so if the majority of the community is wanting this it will probably be by the end of the year. but I think there is a lot of discussion around whether or not they will even be able to successfully pos because so many people are against it and the miner might not like the idea of it.

this is the same issue ethereum will probably have when they decide a coin limit.

how are alt coins decentralised?
by
tomaso88
on 08/06/2017, 12:13:07 UTC
I don't understand how most (not all) altcoins and ico's are decentralized as they claim to be?
If it requires a business or corporation to run the project how is that decentralization?

Bitcoin, monero, litecoin etc work just fine without organisations running them, any developer can pitch an idea and if the majority like it, it gets implemented usually. But all these ico's on the other hand just seem to be fundraisers for business ideas instead of raising development for decentralized platforms. for example if the website for these currencies ico currencies went down they would no longer be usable.

how are these companies calling their projects decentralized if they aren't decentralized at all, how is this any different then just fundraising a business idea except for the fact if the business screw up they aren't accountable at all.

It's like an honor system where you leave a jar of money on the table saying take one dollar.
Well.. all these guys here will empty it in a heart beat.

Morality is of no concern to these profiteers.
They want money and they want it NOW !
Even if it destroys Bitcoin / Crypto's potential.

I have always said it's the majority in control.
Since the majority are steering the ship they will run it aground for chump change.

Ideology in crypto died a long loooong time ago.. Ripple anyone ?
Uhhh ? *ANY* ICO ?
ICO = SCAM.

I have thought it happened because the dev's could not think of a better system than Bitcoin or the block-chain concept.
So they simply diverted attention from creating a better CURRENCY to block-chain associated SCHEMES ..for profit.

The users in crypto are so fucking stupid it didn't even occur to them that there may be a better system than "the Block-Chain"
But who's looking ?

ICO a "ledger" and trade it on Polo for ROI's ?

The #2 coin in crypto is not even a fucking currency for christ sakes.

It's real simple.. CRYPTO FAILED !
Bitcoin is fucked up bad and all the idiots care about is profits with ICO schemes etc.

I don't expect anyone to smarten up.. just to see more greedy stupidity until it pushes things to the breaking point. (which is why i deem it "stupidity")

thankfully there are still some projects I consider to be good like monero and the upcoming mimble wimble (as long as mimble wimble doesn't have an ico that is lo)

but yeah if people keep steering things this way it doesn't just end up looking bad on them but it makes bitcoin and real innovation look horrible as well

Have people forgotten why bitcoin was created?
by
tomaso88

When I first joined the crypto space, I loved it because it was all about giving back power to the people letting them take control of their own finances through a decentralized system. Sticking the middle finger up to banks and the government, with the current disastrous fiat system.

But now things have changed, it feels like more then 80% of the space is more concerned about riding the next pump and dump and profiting off other people's losses, most of the current ico's that have taken place in the last year don't even have a working product and even then many still require a centralized figure in the project to work later on which throws the whole need and idea of a decentralized blockchain out the window. yet people still buy in to these ico's not because they believe in the project but because they believe they will be able to sell at a higher price or they do believe in the project not realizing what they invested in never required an ico because it's not decentralized and will always require a central figure.

I liked bitcoin because it helped people against the greedy banks and corporation in the world but it feels like people have forgotten that or just don't care as long as they make a huge profit at the end of the day at other people's expense.

madbitcoins had a very good discussion about this just the other day
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvaC8ObV4s0

even projects such as rarepepe's and pepecash seem to have more of a purpose then most of these ico's which is a pretty sad thing to say if you think about it.

Even the shittier currencies that are just trying to be better then bitcoin have more of a purpose because they are a good testbed for different idea's on payment systems but those have crazy messed up pump and dumps as well.

at the end of they day when most of these project fail which most will many people are going to end up losing a lot of money.

When you invest in an ico as well they have no obligation to make an end product, even if they do their best to they could fail or they could just run off with the funds from the start or sell a huge chunk of the tokens them selves which happened from many devs in ethereum.

when you invest in something that isn't regulated they have no obligation to their promises. it's in fact very similar to the many scams that have happened on indiegogo or kickstarter

You can now withdraw xaurum from your RICO accounts.

The easiest way to see/use Xaurum with your Ethereum wallet is: download Ethereum wallet and sync it. Create account in Ethereum wallet. Remember the password. Create a backup for your account. Click "Watch Token" and paste 0x4DF812F6064def1e5e029f1ca858777CC98D2D81 to see your xaurum balance. You can try sending lower amounts if you're not sure how everything works.

Note that Xaurum still has a transaction fee that excludes xaurum from the supply to increase the base value of all, the current fee is 0.5 XAUR.

Detailed tutorial (scroll down for a tutorial with pictures)

In the future there will be a version of the wallet just for Xaurum, made for easier use.

why do the transactions wait for admin verification?

Wait until the wallet is synchronized. Do not use Ethereum adressess from exchanges.

I'm not aware of any "hardware" password manager implementations that allow you to read your password from the device. And even if you use something like that, you are not protected when entering said password on a compromised computer.

Keepass is a good password manager to use. It also has good mobile versions that basically allow you to carry the passwords on your phone. You can store the encrypted database on dropbox so you always have access to it.

The advantage of a password manager is that it also uses obfuscation techniques to enter your password to websites, so you are partially safe if you happen to log in on an infected computer.
thanks looking good from what i've read so far

What do all of you use to protect your passwords, I've heard of password managers like lastpass but I'd rather a cold storage for my password. does any one know of any device that are small that just read text files to carry your passwords on?

or do you have any other suggestions for protecting your passwords?

Could some one make a Xaurum video explanation cause I still don't understand it properly. I've read about it but I'm more of a visual learner
