Could someone point me to the source of the CPU minerd that supports this algo, so I may compile it for linux?

For the life of me I cannot seem to find one. I could have sworn that I had found one before.

I think you will only find win64 binaries, an alternative you could look into is minerpp: https://github.com/john-connor/minerpp

Also, keep in mind that CPU only mining will not yeld much reward as you will be competiting with GPU and FPGA.

I would like to download the wallet, but when I click the link, I get a Please wait... message, and the download never starts...

Downloads are working fine here, maybe you could try with an other navigator.

I'm new to Sandboxie. I wanted to take the wallet out of the sandbox because this wallet has earned my trust. However, it appears that when I tried to do that, the wallet started downloading the whole blockchain again. I gather the easiest way to do this is run the wallet outside of sandboxie and import all my private keys? I'll run it in sandboxie for now until I feel less lazy. Cheesy

When you use sandboxie all the wallet files goes into a specific sandbox folder so they are not mixed with the wallet files of the wallets that you run normally.

To grab these i go to C:\Sandbox\tom\DefaultBox\user\current\AppData\Roaming , it should be similar on your system except for the username obviously Wink

everyone please send a tweet out to https://twitter.com/ShapeShift_io to get VNL added to shapeshift.

Thanks for reaching out. We do have Vanillacoin on our discovery list and our development team will look into it when they begin to decide on the next coins to add. We receive several dozen requests a day for new coins to be added so can not assure you we will add your coin, but we will for sure look into it and see if it makes sense for us to add at this time. Any new coins we add will be announced on our social media channels as well as via our email list. Please feel free to connect:

tweet @coinwarz and fill out this form: http://www.coinwarz.com/contact asking them to add Vanillacoin VNL.

This is the meesage I got back from Coinwarz

Hello Macca,

We don't currently have support for the Whirlpool mining algo. Can you provide some hash rates for an AMD Radeon R9 290 or geforce gtx 750 ti?

Regards,

Tim
CoinWarz.com

- I assume therefore that they would list if they had some facts about Whirlpool

Perhaps someone on the management team would like to take this further?

Received the exact same mail 5 days ago, i answered them but i've still not heard back from them.

Quick question regarding this CPU miner from the OP

What's the meaning behind this line in the .bat file?
Code:
--coinbase-addr=Vb8i5S346WU9X5HbNhnSSgVNaqxtupfGnT

Also, if mining with the VNL wallet, are the rewards automatically transferred to that wallet?

I think you need the --coinbase-addr argument only when solo mining but i could be wrong.

Anyway, at current difficulty it would take you a lot of time to find a block just with a cpu, you would be better mining on a pool imo  Smiley

tomewok, @boutiuqe, guys, did any of you solved a problem with compiling wallet on linux?
I'm getting the same errors with last version of secp256k1. Angry

You need an older version of secp256k1 as Scorpio18 mentioned earlier, after that i had trouble with leveldb and didn't had the time to look more into it.

Did you compiled secp256k1 ??

./autogen.sh

sudo make install

Still having this error even after compiling secp256k1  Undecided

make: *** [obj/key.o] Error 1

are you using the latest update from secp256k1 Huh

Well i'm cloning it from https://github.com/bitcoin/secp256k1

Its seems that the new update is making the compile to fail, this is the update  https://github.com/bitcoin/secp256k1/commit/210ffed5cd27540263ae4df904b46a51f6ad2c91 so you need to use an older secp256k1 without that update

Thanks ! Effectively it was better with an older version  Smiley Still going through some trouble with leveldb but i'll get back to it when i have some spare time Wink

Hey, Josh-Connor,  did POW ever resume?

You can read an update here Smiley

https://talk.vanillacoin.net/topic/143/temporary-proof-of-work-pause-at-block-117833/11

Quote from: john-connor
Proof-of-Work will resume at block # 136000. All nodes will be required to upgrade "at the same time" because old node versions will no longer be able to connect.

I have placed an error macro in the source code to prevent accidental pre-mature upgrades. More news will follow as we get closer to block # 136000.

Thank you for your support.

Where to download android client?

https://talk.vanillacoin.net/topic/150/android-beta-apk   Wink

The only hindrance is that it isn't listed as Google Play ready hence not being searchable on the store.

If that could be done then any non-standard crypto user who searches up the name VanillaCoin will see the Android wallet & get into VNL almost instantly.

This will eventually come once the mobile wallets beta is finished and the final releases comes out (still need a final review to get the iOs wallet listed on the Apple App Store) Smiley

When doing "masternode start" I get that it couldn't connect to my ip and port.
I have opened that port for this application in Private firewall.

im pretty sure the masternode code is broke and because of which the dev has buggered off.

My masternode was "successfully started" 10h ago and still received nothing so there must be a problem yeah
