might be false positives,.......  if someone downloaded them from 2 + mirrors and compared exe's, and they are different, then mabye 1 is virus

I should say, it won't change your graphics card hash rate, but it will change the rate of valid hashes the pool gets from you SLIGHTLY.

but going from 1800->1700 seems too extreme to just be cuz of wireless

sort of, yes. The more lag/latency the more stale shares you will get.
