Re: Kraken SEPA Withdrawls Failing
by

I have discovered some slightly unusual behaviour with the 'Add bank account' form which may have something to do with the 'Bad data' message.  Upon entering my local branch address along with my personal IBAN and BIC codes (as given on a bank statement) I get the bad data message.  However, once I looked up and used the address which is registered to the actual BIC (a more central branch of the bank) this caused the form to be accepted.

Does the system do some sort of look-up on the BIC code and match it to the address given?  If so this may be the cause of the error.  Also, will the fact that I used the central branch address and not my own local branch cause any problems with the withdrawal itself?

Thanks for replying Dargo. We totally understand that you guys are swamped at the moment. I'm sure the craziness will die down in a week or two and hopefully you'll be back on track.

Ah, thanks for that Omega,  I thought all UK banks had been forced to sign up to it but I did suspect that this might be an issue.  Have you withdrawn successfully from Kraken to HSBC or was it a different exchange?

Hey Dargo,
If you are still about maybe you (or someone else) could help us out at another thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=350731

Basically, a few people seem to be having problems doing SEPA withdrawals at the moment.  In fact we cant even get the accounts to add on Kraken as it just gives us a 'Bad data' error.  I have also opened a ticket with your support desk (#5966) but I figure it'll probably be a couple of days before your support staff can deal with it so I thought I would just try my luck here as well.

I have experienced both the problems reported here within the past 24 hours.
Firstly I tried to withdraw 500EUR to my Santander UK bank account but it failed.
I figured maybe Santander UK just doesnt do SEPA properly and handily I have another bank account in France which should certainly work.  Unfortunately I cant even add this second account to Kraken as it just keeps giving me a 'Bad Data' response whenever I try.

Im guessing this may all have something to do with the huge surge in popularity and use that Kraken have experienced in the last week, and it's understandable that bugs will appear in the system when it is this heavily used.  I have opened a ticket and am waiting to hear back, if I do I will let this thread know.  I will also post this to the main Kraken thread as a couple of you here are probably in newbie-jail.  One of their team seems to post over fairly often there so maybe he can help.

I dont really think its a great time to be dropping $200 on a cpu if you are just planning to mine Primecoin.

On my intel i7 at ypool I am making about $2 a day before electricity (its my work computer so its always on anyway).  So it would take about 100 days to make ROI but with the recent developments in GPU mining progressing nicely, it seems CPU mining may be blown out of the water long before then.  Of course we may yet discover that GPU mining isnt much more efficient all-in-all but it is certainly something to consider before spending on new hardware.

Pls let us know what is the status Mtrlt.

Public status updates are of more value for competitors rather than for customers (err... well, donators). Perhaps Mtrlt informs about his progress privately, avoiding posting here.

Nope nothing here and I donated. Sad

That's exactly what we would expect you to say...  Wink

Or a clever troll.

The amount of bitching in this thread is unreal.
If I was OP I wouldn't give it to anyone at this point.  Keep it for yourself mtrlt, and let the trolls write their own code.

I think Bottlecaps is a pretty good concept for a coin, although by its nature it seems like it should represent something of small value which can be quickly traded for everyday items (like a cup of coffee).  That could certainly be a good niche for the coin to inhabit in the far off future alongside the more valuable resources of Bitcoin and Litecoin.

I personally prefer CAP as the short-name and I think you should definitely steer clear of infringing any IP with use of images etc.  As long as the foundation is seen not to be infringing, noone can stop the public drawing parallels and making their own personal graphics etc.  I dont think the concept of Caps could be seen as infringing in itself as it is an old concept which has been in general use around the world.

But please, dont let Digitalindustry anywhere near your foundation/Dev team.  He seems to be a few spanners short of a toolbox.

Hey Lickman,
Post your clocks and your config file and we might be able to help you out.
You will find that Scrypt is a very different beast than Bitcoin and that you need to retweak everything separately to get the best out of it.  I have heard that for the 79xx cards the sweet spot is something like Engine clock = 0.7 x Memory Clock.  You also need to up the intensity a lot compared to Bitcoin, maybe start around I = 13 and tweak your clocks, then push intensity up to the limit of your rigs stability.  Check around the forums and see what settings other people are using.

I like the new tickers snub!  Was a pain to scroll so far right to see them.

You should add a link to this forum topic under your 'Support' tab as it would make it a lot easier for people to use this as a focal point for discussion.

Been mining at this pool for a while now, smooth enough experience so far.  But we could definitely use some more hashing power, so come on guys, try it out!

Try pointing your cgminer to multipool.in
It automatically switches to the most profitable coin available.  You only need one scrypt-based config file for your miner and it will do all the switching work for you.
(Im not affiliated with them but I did use it and found that the service worked pretty well.  Ive since decided to just stick with LTC however as it can be quite difficult to actually profit from constant coin-switching.  If you are constantly switching to the most profitable coin you also need to be constantly trading them otherwise by the time you collect a meaningful amount the profitability may well have dropped back down again.  Too much time required for me)

Do you save any Wattage by underclocking like this?
I have my 7950 Twin Frozr iii overclocked to give me 620Kh/s but I have also undervolted it to 1100mV to reduce the power draw.  I reckon that I might be able to drop the volts a bit more but havent bothered to check yet.  These cards are built to overclock so it doesnt really bother me that much to keep the settings high, especially if you can reduce the voltage at the same time for an all round benefit.

Hey Burnside,
Id just like to thank you for the stratum support.  Been mining away for the last 48 hours with it and my stales are down from 20% to 0.1%.  Fantastic job man, hopefully this will encourage more miners back to the pool.
