http://coinyecoin.org/ is the wallet here legit? it has no password protection

It's legit. Those archives are 100% identical to the officials.

I had decent expectation for this coin.

So far:

Fucked up launch
No wallet
No ''custom'' miner or whatever program they promised
Heavily pre-mined
Switched to a gay logo

Seems like its ran by amateurs.

andddddddddddd why do you need a custom miner Huh?

You don't. Any scrypt miner works. It's just a custom frontend for the noobs to choose the right miner program depending on their hardware.

Ask yourself if the pool that you joined was approved by the DEVS. This one was at http://coye.livechains.com VARDIFF PROP 1% + 1 COYE. Having been approved we get the code before others. We will be ready at launch.

The hardware behind the pool:

SERVER SPECS:

6 Servers built out as a VM Platform.

Each Node is 8 Core Xeon, 128GB DDR III, 2 x 120GB SSD RAPID CACHE, 2 x 2TB SATA III Dual HotLive HotSwap GE Network Uplink and Failover ESXi Internal Network rated at just under 100GBPS.

Each Virtual cluster has access to a 1.9Tb RAID 10 SSD x SATA III DAS Storage Array.

Failover is provided by 2 ONLINE Spares for the cluster of the same specification

Network is a fully redundant N+2 to RACK 20GE, no limit on upper expansion, more than 2.25TBPS ontap.

Servers are custom built and spec'd for LiveChains.

Weird that your pool is not listed in the original post, but you say the devs already gave you the code.

Also, you link is not working.

No pools already have the code. They said they were going to give it to official pool owners about 5 minutes before launch.

They just announced a premine in the irc channel..  Shocked

And then they muted the channel..

Waiting for the fork Smiley Smiley

He unmuted it 20 seconds later. It was because he had to say something but the lines were scrolling so fast it's the only way people could really get a chance to read it. heh. The channel is huge.

Seems to me according to pool stats:

http://pool.coinyeco.in/index.php?page=statistics&action=blocks

that 759 blocks of at least 666 666 coins value each were premined, that gives us 505 999 494 coins premined...
but I dont know if all blocks were 666 666, maybe earlier were even bigger?
Anyway, it gives about 0.38% premine if my calculs are right

Yeah, 666,666 in a block. 0.38% isn't bad. I mean, it's not good but... not enough for me to get buttmad. Fair enough.

PREMINE ANNOUNCEMENT

http://archive.is/2ubRU

"coinye" on reddit is NOT the official coinye coin account!!! that's an imposter guys.

I am on IRC as well he just said he is running the Wallet i.e. Premining

that's not the official account still, and running the wallet doesn't mean a premine necessarily. i mean, they DO have to test the wallet to make sure it connects to the network after all. i think they admitted to a premine previously though, but it's not supposed to be big. i have no problems with a minor premine personally. making a coin takes effort after all, and it costs money to set up a network infrastructure. just depends how big the premine is...

wow....the logo change is horrible.
Definitely liked the first one better.

I think they probably did it for a more cartoony parody/satire feel, along with changing the name to only "Coinye" due to the legal threat. It's also a nod to the Kanye gay fish South Park episode.

No because they are trying to avoid lawsuit.
They changed it to a parody/satire to avoid a lawsuit.

That's exactly my point of course.

Wut, mining starts today at 7 pm pacific time???
http://coinyeco.in/
isnt this thing going kinda weird last time? change logo to some fucking fish, change domain, now change launch date.. I see.. never more fucked up launch and they are just doing the same!
what do you think about it?

Maybe they were not allowed to use his face for the logo or something? Is that a possibility? Anyway.. the miner and wallet were supposed to be available 2 days before the launch. It's not even there yet.

They had to scrap their plans to release the wallet/miner days early because legal pressure forced them to move up the launch. According to them on IRC, it will be made available in time. At least the wallet. The specialty miner may have to wait a few days but it doesn't really matter. Just use the miner programs you've always used.

Solved this on my own. If anybody else is having the same issue, try using Berkeley DB version 5.0.32. Worked for me.

Congrats! Which version of gcc did you use?

Originally 4.4, but then later 4.6.2... both work though with the newer DB version.

If it helps, I'm using DB 4.8.30, QT 4.8.4 and GCC 4.4.

What version of windows do you build with?  Win 7 x64?

Thanks for the reply. I tried it on two machines. One was Win 7 x64 and the other was Win 8 x64, but I'm using the 32-bit MinGW/GCC. I want a 32-bit wallet for maximum compatibility. Would it be less hassle to cross-compile from a Debian box? Something tells me no...

Problem while creating new altcoin, error loading blkindex.dat
by
topshibedoge
on 02/01/2014, 21:57:15 UTC
Hi, I'm creating a new altcoin just to learn how it works. It's not going to be public, just used between some friends for fun. I know the world doesn't need another new coin. Anyway, I mined my genesis blocks (for both main and test nets) and then changed the nonce values and recompiled. After that, all that happens when I try to run the daemon is that I get "Error loading blkindex.dat". Was I not supposed to change the nonce? I'm a bit confused as to what's going on. None of the tutotials really explain these things, they just tell you what to do and leave you to figure out the rest.

Can anybody explain what I'm doing wrong? Also, how do I get the client wallets to automatically connect to the correct seed nodes? One more question, will new nodes in the future simply download the genesis block from the original node?

Note: I started with the mooncoin sources.

Thanks!!

Self-compiled QT win32 wallet crashes with "unable to allocate memory for mutex"
by

I've been struggling for over a day with this. I need to be able to compile a working Litecoin QT wallet for Windows from source, because I'm with a group that's launching a new scrypt altcoin soon. I've got the wallet compiling to an EXE, but when it runs it shows the splash screen but then crashes and I get this error in db.log:

Quote
unable to allocate memory for mutex; resize mutex region
Unable to acquire/release a mutex; check configuration
PANIC: Operation not permitted
process-private: unable to find environment

Same thing happens when compiling multiple wallet sources including Litecoin, Dogecoin, Mooncoin, and more. It's a problem with the maximum mutexes setting of the DB library apparently, and manually configuring a max in a DB_CONFIG file seems to work for everybody according to Google searches, but not for me. Something seems to be hosed in my DB dependency. Does anybody have a working DB dependency for MinGW32 that's able to compile these wallets correctly that they can share with me? Or even the entire deps+MinGW system?

Or alternately, does anybody know how I can just fix the error I'm getting? Thanks!
