Re: Binance threatens to delist BitcoinSV for Craig Wright pretending to be satoshi

Craig Wright  could easily prove he is Satoshi if he could and not playing these games instead. This circus should be cleared earlier. Binance  should not support fraudulent coins.

Quote
How could he prove he's the real Satoshi? He's just playing as the one but couldn't give a substantial proof. All talk.

There's known satoshi accounts filled with BTC, untouched for years. He could access them.

But he won't. Not because he's lost the keys, but because he never had them. Fraud and an idiot... How the hell did SV get to 1bil market cap I'll never know

It should be on couple of good exchanges and everything should be transparent from start to gain the trust. I have not much knowledge about this fork probably but premine coins should have transparent use case. It will remain to be seen how it plays and how different it is than the original version of Grin. Support on exchanges will decide its fate for sure.

That's fair enough - I think you need to find the balance between the risks if you don't have any premine and then have zero dev and the coin dies, versus the other end where its just a cash grab and no-one has confidence.

Dev seem to be doing a great job at the moment - fixing bugs, working on the wallet (in beta), and engaging with community in Discord. Discord has around ~200 people most of the time

what a terrible terrible fail this grin clone has been. I still think a fork with decent emission schedule could be a go tho...

See 12.1(c)

"Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit any rights or remedies a User may have under the Fair Trading Act 1986 or the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993."

And 18.4(a)

"You agree to use our service in accordance with the law in New Zealand and the applicable law in your jurisdiction. Where any of these Terms does not meet the minimum requirement of the law, those terms and conditions are deemed to be amended to the extent of compliance."

Seems like boilerplate lawyer-speak to me: these are our terms, but some of them 'may' be overridden by law, and it's solely up to you (or perhaps the courts) to determine what is or isn't valid.

Regardless, I doubt that a company could legally limit their liability to repay funds held on behalf of customers. Otherwise, they could just close up shop and keep the difference.

The Acts mentioned are the standard consumer protection acts in New Zealand; those clauses are just saying they cannot contract out of the provisions provided by law (which for these laws in particular is correct)

This would be amazing if not for the infinite supply and stupid emissions policy.

Just because it's design does not meet your specific use case does not make it stupid. Actually it is quite the opposite.

I am fairly sure it will fail due to emission policy and I really hope I am wrong.

Once the hype fails it will have a hard time to absorb 1 grin per second for the rest of its time especially in the first years - there will be little incentive to hold and to mine to secure the network except for idealistic reasons: Even if it somehow succeeds it will be in hands of a small group for the reasons given.

The argumentation that it is used for spending because inflation is high would imply that there a places to spend the currency. The reasons that crypto is not used for spending is not the inflationary policy but regulatory boundaries and that there are basically no places to spend them - I personally do not see why a new coin with a new protocol should change it  - it will compete against a 4 digit number of existing cryptocurrencies. It would even have a hard time if the emission policy would have been chosen wisely.

Nevertheless it is probably the most interesting project launched in the last two years and therefore I will follow it. The protocol is really innovative, the community driven decentralized and anarchistic mentality is probably the only way to launch a new cryptocurrency, the name is great and I fuckin love the logo Smiley but cryptocurrencies are first and foremost money with its specific characteristics and I think you fucked it up there big times. Nevertheless I hope to be proven wrong over time

Yup I agree with this. A counterpoint is 'well its meant to be money and its designed well for that - its not meant for speculation' - But the reality is, I think, that any coin is not likely to be picked up en masse unless there's good potential for speculation, and its after that point it could then be adopted as money

Does that png say bitforex cannot be withdrawn from? I withdrew from them yesterday

Or are you saying that GRIN cannot be withdrawn from the exchange? Either way its a bit confusing.

I have no withdrawal button on Bitforex. I read here that it will be enabled tomorrow

Yep no withdraw button for me either

Wtf is with the spread between Hotbit 0.0014 and BitForex 0.0008

I looked into this lol... Turns out Bitforex has withdrawals disabled on Grin until tomorrow (withdrawal will be available on 2019/1/23 15:00 (GMT+8)....I assume at this time a lot of cheap Grin will be withdrawn and transferred to Hotbit and co, and the price will fall @ the expensive exchanges (but possibly rise at Bitforex due to decreased supply?)

So the latest rumour I've heard (I live in this city and know people that work there) is that one employee (a person I used to know from the IT sector incidentally) is of particular interest, taking an overseas holiday the day before the hack at no/little notice, and is now unreachable.

Again just a rumour, though does correlate well with the elementus article which suggests the whole db has been yoinked

^yw Grin
Lovely how people here're mostly so hard-nosed that the 'infinite supply' feature immediately raises alarm bells.
However it just dawned on me that 'infinite supply' will appeal very much to legacy people.

That's fair, you can certainly argue the characteristic either way! Should have got some yesterday...up 100% today

Thanks for this  Smiley

Really enjoying the discussion around grin... Its just such a shame (IMO) with the economics...I get infinite supply but I just don't think its the right environment for it personally.

Coin is getting down to around $2 - I'll probably purchase some soon (I've only got asics so can't mine it)

these guys are based in my city. The two owners have really solid cred in the community, but they have 100 staff so who knows.... I talked to a SQL contractor there and he thinks its pretty suspect.

TL:DR suspect an inside job has happened. Cryptopia have gone silent and are just referring everything to the cops.
