I disagree. There is no other better or cheaper way to send letters in the United States. If FedEx or UPS wanted to send letters, there is no way they could do it for less than 50 cents. That's why the Post Office operates at a deficit, as it is legally obligated to do. My friend is in the military, and letters are an essential part of our communication.

US dollars are the only thing useful to the United State postal service. That's what they use to spend for all their supplies and services and paychecks. As long as Bitcoin continues to fluctuate in value compared to the US dollar, and not have any market for it, the US Postal Service will never accept them because it is essentially like offering them an investment, not currency.

There isn't a diminishing supply. Bitcoins are made so that they ever increase in supply.

Taxes are usually used to pay for social services, so if you were taxed 100% (a ludicrous notion since over time, you're tax income would reduce to zero, but let's roll with it), we assume that the government would pay for government housing, health care, food, etc. Plus, under slavery, you have no legal benefits because you are property.

No, but seriously, litecoin has the same problems as bitcoin with the added handicap of not being as popular. The only thing different is the number of coins you can mine and their speed, which still presents the same problems bitcoin has of distribution and perceived deflation over time.

The website is coded to show the same number all the time, regardless of donations. Further, the person who runs the blog also has scam sites about cheating Satoshi Dice and claiming to have hacked wallets. Don't use this.

I've been loaning them to other users and charging interest. Since there's not much to spend them on, I figure that'll stimulate the economy more than hoarding them.

By the way, I wanted to say this. If bitcoin is to survive, there must be a market that forms to accept them. The people who say bitcoins are deflating are not telling the whole truth. There's no way for bitcoin to deflate (well, except for losing them into the bitcoin blackhole, but that's another discussion all together). The only reason it appears to deflate is because of the inflation of other currencies at a faster rate than bitcoin. If bitcoin were to start being accepted to pay for goods and services, the flaws in fiat currencies currently in existence would become apparent as their inflation was made obvious in light of bitcoin's stability. And as long as people hoard bitcoins in order to trade them in for fiat currency, that will never change. Bitcoins will simply be an investment, and one that fluctuates wildly, rather than a stable currency in their own right.
