Re: Very Early Adopters

I am amazed how few people in the US know about bitcoin and even fewer understand it.  I work in a very technical field which allows me to travel and I am constantly surveying technical folks of all ages what they think about bitcoin.  I would say only about half of the people have even heard about it, of those about 80% of the folks say stay away or "if you can find someone to give you real dollars for bitcoin, do it!"...

I've also noticed that bitcoin does get news coverage but it is almost always buried on the major media outlet's sites.  Most major headlines are very negative so I can't blame Joe Public for shying away.

All in all, we are very early in this game and I'm excited to see opinions sway in favor of bitcoin in future months/years.

I personally think there will be an "Aha moment" whether it be a killer app or a market correction where big banks move to bitcoin as a store and the sheep will follow quickly.  Just a matter of time but the train is still in the station at this point in time.  Cool

I'm glad to be one of the first to know about Bitcoin

Hello all,
I am wandering if there is or is there will be in the future fake BTC. I dont mean some alt coin, but fake BTC which someone can send you to your wallet. It will be not as easy as print fake money and give them to someone. But who knows, may be in the future there will be such thing which will cause trouble to the network...What is your opinion?

As everyone knows one of the major problems with Bitcoin economy is hoarding. The idea of this poll is to find out whether the lack of spending in the BTC economy is mainly due to the lack of acceptance of Bitcoin payments, or is it that people can actually buy a good deal of stuff that they need with BTC but choose not to.

I pretty much just hoard mine right now

This looks like it, maybe why we are once again going up after the big drop off.
This might really start things rolling.

It looks like Apple has updated its app developer guidelines today to allow for Bitcoin apps.

The new clause under section 11.17, which was flagged by folks on Twitter like investor Bill Lee today https://twitter.com/westcoastbill/status/473555837982900226, reads:

Apps may facilitate transmission of approved virtual currencies provided that they do so in compliance with all state and federal laws for the territories in which the app functions.

That sounds like Bitcoin!

Huge step for Bitcoin, weather you're team android or iphone!

Wellcome to 48Hourbtc.com
SEND BTC TO ADDRESS: 1LZjXe3XCFHmuo7xQqzJC7vANcMfiEc5EZ

WAITING 1 COMFIRM.

GET BACK YOUR DEPOSIT X2 AT YOUR WALLET ADDRESS. WITHIN 48 HOURS.
 Payment 4% Hourly.

MINIMUM: 0.01

DO NOT SEND FROM A WEB WALLET! BLOCKCHAIN.INFO WALLETS ARE OK!
FAQ
How it work ?
It’s very easy, you send BTC from your wallet, you get back x2 of your deposit in 48 hours. Example: invest 0.1 and get back 0.2
Do I need to register in your website?
Just send BTC to wallet. And wait double your money.

Is this a ponzi or HYIP system?
Absolutely no, HYIP and Ponzi systems are made to get away when there are enoght funds (collected through rounds, blocks or waiting time) to steal by owners of system.

How long should I wait for payout?
The maximum time for each payment you send the money after 48 hours.

An example of our profit?
You deposits 0.1  will get 0.02 BTC Return.

Do you will refund me if I don’t get back my BTC?
Yes, Only for technicals inconvenience we will refund the depositaries. The ONLY case that we can’t refund is when you send BTC from a shared wallet. Since you’ve deposited funds you cannot ask a chargeback, just wait the system until it’ll get you back your gain.

Can I use a web wallet?
Using the Blockchain.info web wallet is OK! Other web wallets are good BUT shared wallet are denied because you’d be deposit from a shared address and we have no way of knowing what’s the address we can send your payout to.

You'd have to be an idiot to fall for this

It removes all of the problems Rothschild and Friends created to keep us under their foot.  Why would we want to be free from debt slavery guys?  Why would we want to remove global poverty?  Why would we want to stop the fracking in the states?  Why would we want to question GMO'S?  How is Jacob Rothschild suppose to get his 78th Castle if everyone gets paid a proper wage?  THINK ABOUT THE ROTHSCHILDS GUYS! If BTC continues they might lose their ability to loan money out of thin air how terrible that would be.

I'm loving all the sarcasm in this post

Re: The Bitcoin Community at its Worst
by
twistyfy
on 10/06/2014, 00:34:26 UTC
Is it safe to come out again?

I say this because on Sunday we saw the very worst of the so called 'Bitcoin Community' (apologies to most on this forum as probably the silent majority also watched) on both this forum and Reddit where literally hundreds of vitriolic, aggressive, threatening etc posts / conversations were sprayed out left right and center attacking the CEX.IO / GHash.IO entity, including death and violence threats to owners / users of that service.

It was totally pathetic and to me it showed one very good reason why Bitcoin has a lot of growing up to do. No, not because of the 51% issue (yes that does need to be addressed, but by the industry participants / guardians of the Bitcoin protocol themselves collaboratively) but because of the type of poisonous rhetoric that came forth over the past day or so. Just imagine a newbie to crypto currency having a look at this new opportunity doing a bit of research on the so called informative forums to be presented with the type of crap that was seen. They would quickly retreat back to the 'Yeh Mt.Gox and angry trolls is what Bitcoin is all about to me'

How can we have an industry grow and encourage innovation and expect mainstream uptake when companies that offer services people want to use get attacked and vilified because they are doing a good job and attracting customers over and above their competitors. Lets all attack Intel they have too many processors in the computer ecosystem, lets all attack Apple they have far too many mobile phones in the mobile ecosystem.

So for me, Bitcoin Community needs to learn a lesson from this and look at a way of collaboratively addressing the underlying issue.

It's safe again! No worries

Re: Any free ways to anonimize your bitcoins?
by

I mean, to disconnect them from your name.

A Reddit user suggests to send your bitcoins to a Silk Road wallet, then back to another wallet/address:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1c8yb3/a_stepbystep_guide_to_creating_an_anonymous/c9e99nu

However I am confused: do you actually have to send them to a new wallet as well? A new address in the same wallet (such as Qt, Electrum) will not suffice?

This is the best I've seen http://bitmix4you.com/

Re: Class action lawsuit against Google over adwords phishing site scam
by
twistyfy
on 10/06/2014, 00:07:33 UTC
Taken from Reddit:

"We're scheduled to go into further discussion this Tuesday, but I'll summarize what the class action is about below.

As of this post, there remains to be a Google adwords advertisement that's shown to the public. Unfortunately, this advertisement is a cover up phishing site, which has stolen money from myself and possible others. Now, I don't know the full extent of theft that occurred as it applies to others, but I myself have lost a worthy sum due to this phishing site.

It is Google's responsibility to provide safe advertisements for the public, and this isn't the first time they've defrauded the public. In 2011, a similar situation occurred where advertisements for drugs were being sold that were not suitable for people and Google paid out 500M.

I'm aware that Google is currently facing a class action suit for its adsense program, where they allegedly stole funds from publishers a few days before their payout period. That class action shouldn't interfere with the one we plan to launch.

I've read reports right here on this subreddit of people being affected by this phishing ad, so I do believe that I'm not the only one who's been affected.

I'm planning on posting a follow up on the details of this civil action after Tuesday, when I speak with the designated attorneys. Hopefully they'll comply and go forward with this, if not I'll find people who will. I'm not giving up on this, not anytime soon."

Anyone plan on joining this if the case is taken by attorneys? If you weren't aware, there's a google ad that imitates blockchain's wallet, and when you put your info in.... well you know how phishing sites work.

I have a few questions myself:

How can anyone check how many bitcoins we lost? Couldn't someone lie about how much they lost?

How can anyone check if the person who says they got affected really did?

It's obvious that negligence occurred on Google's side, how much would a possible settlement go for?

I feel like anyone facing Google is going to lose. They're going to have the best attorneys money can buy.

Re: Intermediate signing device
by
twistyfy
on 09/06/2014, 19:12:17 UTC
After just reading on another thread about the difficulty of entered a high entropy private it seems that what is needed is a device that has no connectivity and whose purpose is only to sign transactions.

How about a device with a camera that can scan a destination address then a private 256 QR code key like Armory's, lets you enter an amount and then displays a QR for the signed tx that can then be scanned by an online device?

If you could make this trustworthy it would make secure signing of txs user friendly.

Is anyone working on something like this or is the idea flawed?

It sounds like it could happen.

http://astrohacker.com/ahc/bitcoin-is-the-economic-singularity/

After reading this, the scale of black market and digital economies and the effect Bitcoin will have on them I am pretty certain we are going to be very wealthy men -- even with a sum as small as 10 Bitcoins. It's just so hard to believe. We are only in the beginning storms with these significant rallies from 10 to 20 dollars. I will not be surprised to see prices from hundreds to thousands in the coming months.

The world just isn't going to be the same and we have been blessed as the pioneers.

What are you going to do with your Bitcoin wealth once your coins hit upwards of $10,000 a pop?

Bitcoin can go no where but up at this point

This might not be something entirely new to most of us. We've understood that ebay is friendly to crypto currencies in the past, but this time, Ebay's CEO came out to talk about bitcoin in specific. And it's on CNBC! Positive PR for bitcoin to the general public.

It's only a matter of time before Ebay accepts Bitcoin

Block 304517 (won by BTC Guild) came in at a (gross) amount of $126,442,364.66 !!

I have not seen one that big before.

I do know that BTC Guild itself saw nowhere near that amount, but someone made/transferred a lot of money today.  I hope they don´t spend it all in one place.

The recent price just has me kicking myself for not buying in. Add in the fact you can now trade bitcoins on your iPhone and it's just hurts.

Also, who think it's weird that bitcoins top out at $600-650 or thereabouts. I think a lot of people got burned buying at $600-1000 during that big boom, and are cashing out as soon as they break even.

Thoughts?

We all missed out on a great deal!

Re: Is Facebook trying to profit from Cryptos ?

on 07/06/2014, 02:17:31 UTC
According to this news article, FB is allowing dogecoin, digibytes, einsteinium, fedoracoin, mintcoin, reddcoin, quark, worldcoin, vertcoin, karmacoin, earthcoin, trollcoin, HTMLcoin and donationcoin. I wonder Bitcoin is not in the list !!! Does it mean that Facebook board of directors understood they are a bit late in Bitcoin mining and hence mined other alts and now boosting those through their platform for quick profit ?

p.s. Juck wont probably like Bitcoin as Winklevoss hold 1% of it.

I think Facebook will jump on board with bitcoin eventually.

Re: 90 BTC stolen!
by

on 07/06/2014, 01:58:54 UTC
I need your help!

I have 2 bitcoin-qt wallets, and yestarday one single transaction happened to both of my wallets and my 90 some BTCs were transferred out of my wallets. I don't know what happened and if it's possible to recover. The blockchain information is as follows:

https://blockchain.info/tx/32d070a547e9d2cc2de4dc453cea27789bf33f1c983ffdc7f28ce3419e70c9d5

On my wallet client software, in the transaction record column, the "address" shows a n/a, and the summary shows a double direction arrow.

How can two wallets be made to transact at the same time with a single transaction? The two addresses are as follows:

1CLn42dHFuXAd7o9bgrsCRmfDvLavRoxTq
1H4esgi6KwhDtVXZXJ12AS7QEwdeQighn4

Is it possible to track down the thief and recover my lost?

Truly,
Philip
hsszzm@mail.sysu.edu.cn

Hate to hear that! But yeah pretty sure they're gone for good.
