Overthinking has been a big problem in most of the peoples life. Gives you a negative attitude, affects your relations with friends, family etc. How can you possibly stop yourself from overthinking when probably you have no control of what to think?

Reflect on Thoughts
Burying the problem for too long can make you an unproductive person, but this problem can be helped by doing a brief reflection.
Spend 20 minutes to "me time" in your daily schedule. During that period, let yourself dissolve into reflection or think about whatever you want.
When it's over, move somewhere else and do what makes your heart happy.

It is not about my looks here considering my girlfriend is the hottest girl at uni
But I just can't make friends and have been ignored in groups on several occasions on accounts of being boring
Need some help here. ( will be grateful )

improve the negative nature within.
resist the desire to boast. The behavior is arrogant and most people find it annoying. You will lose friends before you can become a friend. You must have a balance in making friends so you can celebrate each other's achievements, instead of competing.

first to relieve stress and negative thoughts is to stop thinking for a moment, relax, empty your mind and begin to refill with a focus on finding the most sensible way out of the existing state.

Define specific objectives. "Being a positive person" is a very good goal, but this goal is too big. You yourself may be confused where to start. Therefore, try to set specific smaller goals, such as "Meditate twice a week" or "Smile to others once a day".
