I think that BBQCoin will make a comeback once they convince an actual BBQ chain to accept it as currency!

Re: List of Useless Alt Coins that have Wasted Our Time

I made a few bucks off of FeatherCoin when it was launched awhile back, so I'm not going to complain about that one.

It's STILL somehow traded on BTC-E, while more popular coins like Dogecoin are still banished from that site. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

The /r/dogecoin folks on Reddit are probably cashing out a bunch of DOGE so they can buy some more NASCAR advertising.

Those paint jobs and racing suits aren't cheap!

Man... I wish that someone could finally launch JesusCoin correctly.

I think that the holy rollers are an untapped market for cryptocoin, with Bitcoin and the like being tied to "evil" vices like drugs and porn. They would love a wholesome alternative for something like a no fee online donation system.

I hope that the OP tries relaunching this coin once he has a working pool and binaries that actually run.

This launch attempt was a bust.

The binary doesn't work on it's own. Is there an installer?

Re: Why are people getting carried away with Doge coin?

I'm guessing these insane prices are due to the fact that coinwarz and coinchoose aren't listing it, and many miners are not aware of the astronomical profitability.  Difficulty is gonna shoot to 1000 and it'll be dumped into oblivion when that happens.  I am mining and insta-dumping while the getting is good.

What... you think that Dogecoin is just a pump and dump scam? Why, I never Wink

Looks like people are not happy with this release, someone should make Jesuscoin so we have something new to mine.

I still think that JesusCoin has potential. The Christian conservatives will LOVE it! They'll be mining for the LORD, now! Alleluia! Praise Jesus, Nik Wallenda style! Smiley

Re: How do pumps and dumps work? (Fontas for example)
by

The only way to do that would be to dump any currency you have the moment he announces a pump... but people won't do that because it's not profitable.

The best thing to do is the buy along with Fontas right up to the point where he sets up the "wall", and then dump it before he does. Risky, but more profitable.

Hey now... we're missing a huge untapped market of God fearing mid-western Americans who don't like Bitcoin due it's supposed attachment to porn and drugs.

Think of JesusCoin as the "Christian Mingle" to Bitcoin's "Adult Friend Finder".

What we really need is one of those late night televangelists to endorse it as the G rated and God approved alternative to Bitcoin... THEN we have something Smiley

I know what pumps and dumps are but can someone explain to me how they work, in detail please?
This is my understanding:
You put a bunch of money in and create a buy wall in which the sellers dont have enough to fill.
(Does that make the price go up?)
After the price goes up, then you sell.
What if people are not willing to buy all of your coins?
Why would people buy coins when the price is high?
What is a "noob trap", i read that on one of fontas tweets.

From my understanding, this is how a Fontas pump REALLY works:

Fontas slowly buys a bunch of cryptocurrency really cheap under different user names.
Then he announces on Twitter that he's going to "pump" the currency. All of his followers on Twitter and BTC-E buy up the coins, causing the value to rise.
On the day of the "pump", Fontas creates a massive buy order slightly over market value called a "wall", and announces that the "pump" is on. People start buying it like crazy, driving up the price quickly. Fontas really isn't doing anything... his minions are doing it for him.
Fontas unloads his holdings at a big profit, and leaves the "noobs" with overpriced crypto currency that is rapidly falling in value. If they panic sell it fast enough, Fontas might buy the currency again for a second wave of pump and dump.

And the noobs fall for it every time. Suckers.

What... no JesusCoin yet?

I'm shocked that nobody has done a Litecoin clone called JesusCoin or GodCoin yet. It seems like a natural foil to the "evil" sounding coins like PornCoin and WeedCoin.

Seriously, the church going folks will love it! We'll be mining for the Lord, and we'll be the first people in our neighborhood to leave a JesusCoin in the collection plate. Can I get an amen?  Wink
