I've had poor results with overclocking the 4 GB Sapphire Nitro+ 480s. I believe they have slower RAM than the 8 GB version though. Is it stock 2000 Mhz on the 8 GB version ?
I don't think you will be able to overclock to 2100 - maybe try stock setting and see if it is more stable.

I would try a slower GPU clock setting and lower GPU and RAM voltage - I think I had mine running at:

-cclock 1150 -mclock 1850 -mvddc 950 -cvddc 950

Try yours at -mclock 2000 and work from there.

ok i think this is the topic i was looking for Smiley.
I have 4 RX 480 nitro+ 8gb , an old mobo with 4 pci slots , 4 pci risers and 1200w corsair 1200i PSU. i am already trying to mod bios for a week now , modding itself is easy but getting the rig rock stable does not work for me ...

my resultas so far :

started out with base bios and base settings , so i get 640 hash per card so 2550 all together , runs stable for 15 hours ( did not test it longer but it looks really stable ).
then i tried 1500 straps , 1625 straps and last 1750 straps ( seem to be the best for rx480 with samsung memory ). But when was mining with all of these straps in all 4 cards
with basic settings , the rig does only run for a couple of hours. with the 1750 straps and basic settings it run for about 8 hours and crashed then. So for me its hard to believe
that people run theste rigs with 1750 straps on the same cards like i have AND also undervolt the hole thing... it would be nice though if somebody could tell me what i am doing wrong.
i ordered 12 more rx 480 and also some Pro btc 2.0 motherboards , so i can have 6 cards on 1 mobo instead off 4. and hopefulle the mobo makes my rig a bit more stable but i dont think it has someting to do with
stability.

So to make things short
- running base bios and base settings ==> rock stable
- running 1750 timings in new bios and basic settings ==> 8 hours stable max !

- now i am running base bios and changed on 1 card the memory from 2000 to 2100 , running stable for 4 hours now and when its stable for 12 hours , i will apply same setting to seconds card , and so on , so on ...

i will keep u guys posted about my progress.

in the mean time , it would be nice to get some ideas of what i am doing wrong or why is it unstable with 1750 timings and base settings? should i make a script that restarts the miner every 3 hours? like this it can maybe mine stable with high hashrate and low power consumption and not crash the whole rig ...

Ok so I just tried to put 1750 straps in my first card and after 2 hours it crashed. How do u guys keep it stable? Automatic restart of miner ?

If it's crashing, can be many things: bad risers.. too high overclock, too low undervolt. What volts and clocks are you using?

Stock factory BIOS. And highest p7 freq 1342 MHz at ,1150 MV. 2000mhz Mem at 1000mv. These are my stock settings and runs stable 15 hours ( did not test longer ). I just tried to set Mem from 2000 to 2100 on alnmy cards still using stock BIOS and it crashed after 10 minutes. Windows reboots and start mining again... And sometimes it's just stuck, no reboot

Which RAM brand do you have on your 480s - is it Samsung on all of them ? What is your ASIC quality on the GPUs ?

Thank you for a suggestion, I tried it ;] set -dcri 50, upped to 60 soon after, achieved ~1400 Mh/s for decred, but Eth went down to ~47-51Mh/s with 25W more for 2 RX 480.

What is your setup and numbers with and without second coin mining? If you would -,-

I'm not dual mining at the moment but I was running 144 mh ETH / 5700 mh DCR. (6x rx 480) Don't remember the different watts but according to what to mine that was the sweet spot for me. Of course this was before ETH hit an all time high. I'm sure whattomine would say solo mining ETH is best right now.

I find that about 30% intensity on DCR is just about maximum before ETH rate is reduced. I think dual mining is still slightly more profitable.

Just my $0.02

Unable to create DAG file is usually related to your virtual memory set too low or inproperly in Windows. Set to 16 GB minimum

Are those 8GB models or 4GB ? RAM overclock seems high for 4GB models - I can get at best around 1950 or so with 4GB (Elpida)
For the RX470 Sapphire's I get about 2025 overclock.

I will work with you on that if you wish - but give me some time to do tests...

-mclock 2025
-cclock 1150
-cvddc 950
-mvddc 950

That's my setting for the Sapphire RX470 OC 4GB

Got this error on one Sapphire RX 480 Nitro+ 4GB

GPU #1 got incorrect share. If you see this warning often, make sure you did not overclock it too much!

Tried down-clock and stock settings on three different bios-es, tried single and dual mining. Every single ETH share is incorrect. On dual mining all ETH shares are incorrect and the other coin shares are submitted without any problem.

Someone else got this or solved it? Any input is appreciated, thanks.

what is your setting in claymore (cmdline would be helpful) it may be related to a wrong configuration.

Just the pool and the wallet address in the command line, no settings at all. Changing AMD drivers now with no success so far. (Win10 64bit)

yes but i wanted to see your config, to see your pool, port, and so on. you replace your wallet adress with anything, just to see the structure & pools

setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool eu1.ethermine.org:4444 -epool eu2.ethermine.org:4444 -ewal wallet -epsw x -allpools 1

here.

edit: I have now tried 16.9.2 16.11.2 16.11.3 16.11.5 and nothing helps. This is getting so annoying. Someone to help?

Open GPU-Z and see what gpu and RAM speeds it shows for default and current. It may be still keeping higher setting that causes your card to misbehave.

Thanks for the input, checked and shows correct values, still it does not accept a single ETH (nor ZEC for that matter) share. Frustrating.

Can you try the card in a different rig ?

ETH

Use Ethermine as your pool if you have less than 500MHs.  It is also has adjustable payouts.   http://ethermine.org/

Use EthPool if you have >500MH. This pool seems to have more "uncles" than other pools.   http://ethpool.org/

Does it matter if I use us2 or us1 ? It seems that us1 has much higher luck and finds more "uncles." I don't see us2 on the list at all.
Would that mean that one will not get uncles on that pool ?

Thanks,

Hey Claymore,

Just noticed that the -mclock and -cclock commands only seem to overclock the first GPU on a dual GPU card like 295x2
The second one stays on stock values. Is it something you can fix ?

Thanks,
Miner see x2 card as two cards. So make your commands as for 2 cards

Doesn't seem to work. Tried that right away when I noticed the issue. If you check GPU-Z - the second GPU is at default clock and such.

whats the best ethereum pool at the moment?

Ethermine.org has been solid for me

if your have many rigs go for ethpool

if you have only 1 or 2 rigs for ethermine

How many rigs or what hashrate would you recommend for ethpool ?

If you are one of the ones who really want to be able to mine to an exchange - dude.... just get a mymonero.com account, mine to it and take that extra 2 minutes a day to send from it to poloniex or wherever.

Quote
tbh i also want to mine to the exchange, is it free to transfer from mymonero.com account to polo ?

There is a fee of between 0.003 and 0.006 and a delay. The fee depends on the level of privacy you select. It works but is annoying.
You have to always consider if you have enough funds INCLUDING the fee or your transaction will fail.

Tried different wallet without payment id- same issue...
Any ideas ?

Change "miniamd" to a number like "1" and try.

Tried with number - works on Dwarfpool ! Thanks. Tried moneropool - same error if using worker name - only address can be used. Solved.

I didn't realize that the software allows remote upload of the configuration file in the default configuration... Ouch.
I have set the port to read only and changed it to a different number.

It may be a good idea to advise users in the next version of the readme file that such an exploit exists...

Thanks,

Hey Claymore,

Discovered a disturbing issue with one of my machines. It has happened twice now - at first I thought it was a glitch.
My config file appears to have been over-written remotely - only the t address has been replaced to allow mining to a different address.
I don't believe that is your development fee ;-)

Here is the address in question on http://zcash.flypool.org/: t1LkBCiHBkoKocxEDrQXTnhWo1TuhVhys9J

Only one of my systems is exposed and the issue (exploit?) has happened on that one only.

From the log:

23:45:58:250   20d0   Remote management: file config.txt was downloaded
23:45:58:250   20d0   srv bs: 0
23:45:58:250   20d0   sent: 40

...

23:46:00:849   2528   recv: 50
23:46:00:849   2528   srv pck: 49
23:46:00:865   2528   Remote management required restart

...

23:46:01:917   2528   Restarting OK, exit...

Do we have a sneaky attacker using a way to mine for himself /herself ?

Tell me I am not going crazy here. I need to secure it.
