I have a few nVidia 1080Ti mining the ETH. I noticed the hash rate decreased about 5% in the last few months. Is it due to the DAG file size similar to old AMD cards?

JCE, didn't you thought about making ethereum miner? About a week it's more profitable than any cn algo on 470/480/570/580 cards...

I think it is less profitable as the emission is changed from 3 to 2 ETH per block.

maybe many people think and expect that ethereum prices will continue to grow from the previous year's price. Even though the price dropped, some people still believe that in October to December there will be a bull run, even though in fact prices continue to fall and reach their lowest point.
this year is a tough struggle for ethereum

The ETH price is going up now. It seems it has reached the short term bottom.

Re: [2018-11-27] Has the Bitcoin Price Ever Dropped Like This in the Past?
by

on 09/12/2018, 14:27:29 UTC
I think the price margin, just increase with every crash. The crash percentages might be more or less the same, but there are a huge difference between a crash from $30 to $5, compared to a price crash from $19 000 to $4000.   Roll Eyes

The recent price crash from the ATH of $19 000+ just got a lot more media attention, because the amounts of the coins, was much higher than before.

People are also confused with the Market cap statistics that are being misused on social media, to make things look worst than it is.  Roll Eyes

I bought some in late 2013. The price now is still higher than that time. So I am not so worried about the price.

Re: [2018-11-22]What may Have Caused a Sudden Drop in Bitcoin Price Last Wednesday?
by
varusisog
on 26/11/2018, 08:17:41 UTC
There are no experts in crypto, just people that got lucky by investing early. The drop occurred at the same time as the bitcoin cash battle so that was the trigger that started the panic dump

I think Calvin Ayre caused this. https://mobile.twitter.com/CalvinAyre/status/1064928118065061889
He said"
@ProfFaustus
has any interest in chains that do not scale. Accepting my offer would have Craig completely out of the ABC chain. If not, hash war continues until the cheating transient hash is gone. "

After the BCH hash war is over, he will attack bitcoin.

your miner not working for r9 390/390x and fury... even old tahiti with awesome miner
This miner normal work with R9 270X. Therefore it will work this 390/390X, fury and tahiti.

I dont know about V1.6.9, but V1.6.8 does not work with R9 390 but it works with Fury(she with HBM memory! If someone worked on optimization for R9 FURY, she would have performed very well on all CN algo!

I have a couple of r9 390 msi gaming working just fine on v1.6.8, they work perfect

What is the clock speed and the hash rate?

Ok I can test pow8 now. But note that I does not guarantee that I will release new version or that I will do it before upcoming fork, this is free miner now and I'm not going to add any fees again, so check other miners, there are many of them.

I guess i shut down the rigs on oct.18 until no update to pow8, dont care to mess around with others. Fee is the least problem, most of us pay it gladly for this fine miner.

I think so. I have a few R9 nano, it will not run seamlessly on other miners.

only ASICS are mining at profit right now. And the Hashrate is not going down. Are people so irresponsable to mine at losses with the current market is danger of absolute death???

I think they got very cheap electricity price.

It's nice to hear such forecasts at a time when the crypto market is experiencing a major crisis!

Tim Draper Predicts Total Crypto Market Cap of $80 Trillion in Next 15 Years

Venture capital investor Tim Draper has predicted that total cryptocurrency market capitalization will hit $80 trillion in the next 15 years, news outlet DealStreetAsia reported September 14. Continue reading >> https://cointelegraph.com/news/tim-draper-predicts-total-crypto-market-cap-of-80-trillion-in-next-15-years

If it is $80 trillion for all coins and bitcoin is 25%, than means $1million for each bitcoin.

Isn't there a Monero fork in the works supposed to go live very soon?
Cryptonight v2?
I thought XMR was supposed to fork on 1st September... Maybe I got that wrong.

Have you got a new miner version ready in any case?

EDIT: I found it. September 16th. There's some time left. Bleh. 16th of Sep was correct... but 2017! Cheesy

I thought it is October this year. The last fork was in April.

All these asics are going to crank up the difficulty until ETH mining is sitting at the bottom of the charts than everyone who spent money on these asics will cry well stop supporting asics manufactures

As many others have been saying throughout this thread - PoS (Proof of Stake) is coming!

I realize the Ethereum team is WAY behind schedule when it comes to implementing any type of PoS protocol, however, this is much more complicated than most people realize. Regardless, the PoS implementation will happen slowly over time, and PoW will not just be suddenly switched off one day. In Vitalik’s Casper the Friendly Finality Gadget (FFG) project, PoS implementation would be slowly transitioned into Ethereum mining over time, while reducing PoW mining rewards until they ultimately reach zero.

To keep on topic, PoW Ethereum mining is not going away anytime soon in my opinion. I was lucky to have had the opportunity to purchase the first batch Antminer E3 for $800 USD some time ago, and although I don't care for the manufacturer, I have been happy with the product and results. Compared to my six 8GB NVIDIA GeForce 1070Ti GPU rigs, the Antminer E3 is currently the much less expensive and overall better choice to mine Ethereum (although the resale value will ultimately diminish, the ROI time is ~5-6 times less).

I am in favor of GPU/CPU mining vs ASIC mining, but the opportunity to purchase ~190 MH/s of stable Ethereum mining that uses ~800 Watts of power for $800 USD is a very sharp double edged sword! Although very limited and not at all versatile when compared to the mineable asset options of a GPU, these ASIC miners can mine other assets as well.

In summary, building a huge Ethereum ASIC mining farm is certainly not the best idea for most, purchasing a few of these miners might not be such a bad idea for some..

I did a calculation. With the 0.16$/kWh electricity price, the ASIC will earn about $1 per day. The ROI is about 800 days now.

3250€ without VAT fot the basic version. Close to 4000€ with shipping and VAT.
Cheaper to get 12 RX580 + mobo + CPU and RAM.
Interesting for those paying a hi electricity cost.

I think it is much more efficient than RX580.

Re: Bitmain denies "secret mining" before sales
by

on 21/06/2018, 07:55:30 UTC
Maybe bitmain was telling half the truth. They may not be mining crypto as a company , but who knows if they sell asics in private sales to their friends in China a couple of months before they sell to the general public. They can sell the ASIC's to beta testers and gain profit. A win win situation.

I think it is most probable.

So, they are basically saying that BTC has to do all the work on its own and once it's already taken over the world PP will embrace it. That's not how it works. If you do that you'll be one of the last to do it. In other words, you'll get left behind. I don't really care, it's your company, but it already is a better currency, you're just too ignorant to notice.

If Paypal supports bitcoin now, bitcoin will become a better currency.
