The guys at catcoin have kindly donated one of their coin scripts to us, so the dev channel has a rolling update of block times and diffs. The general #kittehcoin channel has a new bot with basic block info in. I will be migrating this to my main channel bot once I've figured out how to translate the code to tcl.

Great news on the faucet, ryan .. I will look out the other bot code and see if I can rustle up the irc faucet bot that complimented the old bot that Raudii from worldcoin kindly ran for a while. I've still got the source stashed away, but it will need updating to the new version of the bot platform.

I've checked and the code is still around for our little 'meowmonitor' project that we were testing before. Alas, as we have no live exchange data this is a bit meaningless at present, but thankfully merlin's vps is still hosting this for us for the time being.

Just a quick note that I might be relocating the blockexplorer domain over the next few days, so if it disappears, it will be back asap!!

[Edit]: one useful side effect of the new block bot, is I can better monitor the network and switch my gpu miner on if the flow of blocks gets dangerously low. There have been some golden opportunities to solo mine at low diff, so watch the network carefully! I'm excited to see an amazing 50MHs on bejjan's scryptpool, so that will really get things moving.

Well if Craptsy really is hitting the wall, we need to look at options urgently...

As far as I'm aware .. cryptsy is still trading .. but no transactions will get processed whilst the chain is stuck.

Repeat Until the blockchain starts generating blocks .. no coins will be exchanged between Kittehcoin wallets anywhere. This is how crypto works, and is the only weakness where coins are concerned.

Unfortunately we have a shortage of miners on the kitteh network, which means that if the few that are on, fall off .. we're hung until the situation resolves. Rest assured, we're on it, and hopefully we'll get kitteh onto better footing asap.

Chain is currently frozen at block 921071 on January 8th 1553 GMT according to my client.

You will see all sorts of strange nodes appearing in your kitteh wallets, with odd ports and client names - these are rogues to the best of our knowledge, and will attempt to cause sync issues with the main network. The team is on it, and will patch the wallet asap, and release new clients. You can clone the github repo if you know how, and build a fresh wallet from there.

I'll keep you posted as best I can.

What ya got hooked up and where .. I still got a 3gpu rig that runs a few hours a day .. could point that at net from time-to-time.

I don't have any windows boxes up currently, but I'll investigate cross-compiling.

Looks like the 'net has 'hung' today .. so we'll see what gives.

@catotune: yes, Dano let the SSL certificate at his end expire .. it's on my To-Do list. You'll find this affects the main kittehcoin.info site, and the forums that I know of, currently.

Don't worry too much about the "invalid certificate" warnings .. if you check the target IP, you will see it still matches the VPS box that Dano has always been running. This will be transitioned as soon as I work out a replacement SSL certificate provider my end.

I have a working Kittehcoin client (with a modest balance), and it's syncing up-to-date, so the network is still working fine.

All the wallets seem to remain accessible via the central https://kittehcoin.info website.

Last I checked, MEOW was making a small steady increase in value over at Craptsy .. sadly we disappeared out of the BTC market into LTC .. but trading seems to be steady.

I believe someone mentioned something about a (new?) pool supporting Kitteh .. I know we had a run of terminations as people lost interest, and Scrypt dropped dramatically in profitability. I'm delighted to see a couple of people having put up new Kitteh nodes .. thank you for that.

I continue to hang around IRC if anyone stops by - I don't always respond quickly .. often I'm either working or sleeping. There's a small core team holding Kitteh together for now, until some of us get a bit of time to move things forward. I will try to follow up those who've offered services to Kitteh, but as I can first-hand testify .. sometimes sync'ing up with the other timezones (eg Dano!) can really take some days/weeks to actually happen!!

You will have probably noticed Dano's last post .. he is wrapping up his involvement in Kitteh, and I am doing my best to take over and maintain the assets as best I can. May I take the opportunity to thank him and his team for all that they brought to the Kitteh project.

I have been supporting the Kitteh project in what capacity I can since before Syscoin kicked off, and have been trying to hold a community group together, most of whom have no coding experience whatsoever. It was my full intention to be able to solve some of the difficulty algorithm issues with KGW, but a few months back my job moved from part- to full-time and many other activities have sucked what free time I thought I had, away from me. I don't spend much time on Bitcointalk, I regard it rather as a troll-room than a useful resource for coin activities, although I accept it has a use as a publicity platform, but that's not my interest - I'm an engineer (and techie) by day and night. Myself and the community (and Dano also) felt we needed a group of equals to influence to the coin's future, and with the small group we had, we managed to stave off a takeover bid by another party, a little while ago.

I look forward to Kitteh returning to its former strengths, but it will take time, and more community members to come forward to enable this to happen. I don't imagine I will have much of an active role going forward .. but if I can facilitate communication, co-ordinate and coerce, I shall be happy to do so, and we can make this coin something that will be valued and used and well-known and respected in the coin community once again.

Just a quick update to say that Kitteh won't be going to the wall, and that Dano's moving on from the Kitteh project was anticipated when he took lead of the Syscoin project some while ago. Back then, we had discussions about transitioning the services he administered, and now these plans will be actioned. To the end user, you should see minimal, if any, disruption.

I'd like to welcome on board Esotericizm, who is going to tackle the lack of Android wallet, and complete the difficulty revisions I was unable to fully implement and test myself. Cryptobum remains on board in the background, and rodux will be contributing to media as fast as his job and other life commitments permit. I also hear he's been learning new skills, and I'm sure there will be some exciting developments to come from those, as he hones those new techniques! I'm only sorry I haven't been able to progress some of the wallet issues myself, but my work and personal life have both moved to 105% and I have to share the few hours free time per week much thinner than I ever have before - you just gotta eat and sleep sometimes! I think the same could be said for rodux .. our enthusiasm and passion haven't wavered, we just simply can't devote the precious hours to implement our plans and ideas as fast as we might like!

We are still lacking some publicity and marketing expertise and effort. If anyone would like to come forward, or knows anyone with a few hours to spare, please do come find us in IRC on Freenode (channel #kittehcoin). Although it may seem quiet, there are eyes and ears, and we will get back to you as soon as one of us is able - feel free to idle there. We still see many opportunities for Kitteh, especially in Eastern markets where the Neko and Kitteh emblems have additional cultural significance. These are totally untapped markets to date.

Kitteh won't be on the moon any time soon, but equally we are gonna stick around!

Kitteh will not be employing merge mining for the foreseeable future, due to the additional effort of collaboration and code changes, and for many other reasons already detailed in this and other threads on the subject.
