[ANN] WoofCoin / New Coin [WOFC] GPU Mining/PoW

WOOF COIN

Since the beginning of the pandemic, pet surrendering rates have increased dramatically around the world. Waitlists for surrendering household pets have increased to a remarkable eight months as animal shelters and welfare organisations have seen an increase of 34% for animals needing help.

Typically, animal shelters are under resourced and under financed; relying heavily on donations and the volunteer efforts to assist animals.

This is where Woof Coin steps in. As avid lovers of dogs, we wanted to make a difference. Using the power of Proof of Work mining, we’ve created a coin where miners are contributing to the donation of money to animal welfare shelters. These shelters initially include the ASPCA who already have a cryptocurrency donation mechanism but with intention to expand to the RSPCA and other organizations suggested by the community.

Our aim is to put animals first and we intend on developing ongoing relationships with pet shelters to help adoption.

The devs are working on a solution.

The best solution would be another fork. However, we have just went through a fork so this is not going to happen soon. Another solution would be an increased number of (real, small) miners. These miners will come "organically" after the price of ETN has increased.

Working? You call that working?

THAT is their solution - just to put ASICs back into network Smiley That's the moment when even double facepalm is not enough.

How about a temporary roll-back? Wouldn't that be temporary the better decision after 4 days without working network?
Roll-back would be a good idea three days ago. Now after all the money spent on NiceHash and all the miners efforts (now they are mining practically for nothing). Rolling all back... Hmmm... I think all these people will kill the devs Smiley

And, well. The blockchain is not dead. It just a little slow Smiley And as I see from Twitter and Reddit - most of the users accept that speed and ready to wait. Who we are to change the decision of the majority?

If you know a fix, you can submit a pull request.  This is more than just about the devs, there are many users like myself that have transactions on the blockchain and own ETN coins.

One more time. Developers are NOT interested in patches. They think all is OK - just read their twitter.

how can it do this when the block is rejected? Doesn't the block need to be accepted to fix the difficulty problem first?
As said, that's my non coder thought: As long as none of the new blocks gets accepted so doesn't any change within it, not?
Nope. Difficulty is calculated by the miner before calclutating block hash as the part of the block template. (function Blockchain::create_block_template() in blockchain.cpp)
If patch decide that difficulty for the next block must be lower miner will spend less time building next block.

Are you helping with the transaction bug?  I think they need help.
As I see they don't want any help. Their reaction is only one - "Mine, you fools, mine! It's not profitable, you will lost you money on electricity, but you must mine!"

Edit:  I think AngeGallego's fix only fixes the difficulty issue and not the ring issue.

I think it fixed none of both. And from my understanding the ring issue wasn't a ring issue, means
after flushing the mem pool problem still excists, but i'am not a coder, just some basic understanding,
but that's what i get out.

You are not a coder but I am.

And yes, this patch fix the difficulty problem - it simple makes next blocks 375 a fixed difficulty blocks where difficulty is hardcoded in patch.
And no, it not fix the Transactions Bug.

Please fix me if I'm wrong.
I just investigating the sources of new Electroneum update.

In src\cryptonote_basic\difficulty.cpp there is a function next_difficulty() which calculates the difficulty for new block.

According that function algorithm is the next:

1. take previous DIFFICULTY_WINDOW_V6 = 360 blocks.
2. sort them according to time found (timestamp)
3. throw out first DIFFICULTY_CUT = 60 and DIFFICULTY_CUT = 60 last blocks and keep only 240 blocks.
4. calculate the work (difficulty) done during the time of these blocks and according to that calculate new difficulty.

I see some problem in this algo.
1. Last 8 blocks (307500-307507) are the last current blocks. They will be in the end of sorted list and will be thrown out away!
So the next 52 blocks for sure will be last blocks in list too and their time will not be even taken in account during the difficulty calculations.
This means the difficulty will start to fall down only on block 307560!

2. To calculate the work done by the last 240 median blocks function next_difficulty() use the target_seconds variable:
    mul(total_work, target_seconds, low, high);
BUT! Variable target_seconds now is set to 120 seconds in function get_difficulty_target() instead of 60 before fork.
This doubles the hashrate of the network and the result difficulty for the block 307500 and next!

What thats means? We are now in 3 (!!!) GH/s network and next 52 blocks will not even change the difficulty. The difficulty will go down only
after block 307560.

what I understand is 26 blocks they will pay up to 200000 etn for each block so 26x200000=5,2mln etn
plus miners will get normal payout 26x12000=312000
so all together 5.5mln etn
Oh! Thanks! That's better.
But I don't understand one thing. From update info:
"We are reducing the difficulty window to check every 360 blocks to adjust the difficulty every 12 hours"

If difficulty adjusted every 360 blocks it will be still very high after 26 blocks. Or not?

OK, let's do a simple math.
They are giving miners a 200000 ETN reward for 26 blocks.

With the 50MH network - 30 times lower than before (if miners will give that power) - calculating 26 blocks will took about 2 min * 30 * 26 = 1560 minutes. And miners will earn 26 * 12000 = 312 000 ETN. Total 500 000 ETN.

But, on the working network miners can mine 30 times more blocks which cost 26 * 30 * 12000 = 9360000 ETN !

So developers want miners to do a 9M ETN work for 200000 ETN reward? Good luck!

Correct me, if I am wrong.

Really I don't understand people who hate this cryptokitties.  ETH - is a payment (as one of the roles) system. And now - when it works not only for enthusiasts - you are hating people who use ETH as a payment system? Are you Ok, men?

Moreover such "kitties" is a good test, showing good and bad sides of blockchain techology.
