Bit Coin gold was made as chinese scam, and B2X seems to be something more relieble...

Really?  Literally all they did was take the code from the other devs and add a premine for themselves.    This is nothing more than a cash grab on their end.    It's even using the same future names from November so people think it's just the same thing.   Bitcoin Gold actually put in more work to their fork than this team did.   The B2X team here basically threw a single picture on a website along with their names and tried to get it onto an exchange.

Having issues getting my MSI Z170A Gaming M5 board working with 6 Sapphire RX570 Nitro+ cards.

I've done the following:
PCIE : Auto
4G Decoding : Enabled
Integrated Graphics : IGD

But when it boots it gives a ton of errors on AMDGPU ring tests.
*ERROR amdgpu : ring 3 test failed
*ERROR amdgpu : ring 4 test failed
*ERROR amdgpu : ring 5 test failed
*ERROR amdgpu : ring 6 test failed
*ERROR amdgpu : ring 7 test failed
*ERROR amdgpu : ring 8 test failed
*ERROR amdgpu : ring 9 test failed
It also gives errors after that from powerplay saying "failed to send message"

After using Auto, Tried with GEN1, then GEN2 and have the same problems.

(Also, the board has 7 slots and I'm using the first 6 from left to right... should I be using different ones for just 6 GPUs?)

Thanks.

UPDATE : Works with 1 GPU.  Going to diagnose slots / risers / cards to try and find the issue.

UPDATE2 : Went through each GPU and RISER... looks like one GPU is bad and is causing the errors.   Too bad.   Looks like the settings were all correct though.   Kept the post for others.

I am having same issue with same board , I can only get 2 running at the same time. But I have another rig with 7 cards running just fine with the same mobo.

I use this board and here's what I did to get it working:
1) Force internal graphics
2) update BIOS to latest
3) make sure mining mode is on
4) set PCIEs to Gen 1
5) This board can be set to boot in Windows. Make sure you aren't doing this in the OS settings.
6) enable 4G encode (I actually couldn't even find this option but everyone says it's important so I'm throwing it in)
7) someone somewhere mentioned increasing PCI Latency timer from 32 -> 64. But I didn't do this either.

If you've done this with no results, test your ram and cpu. Maybe even swap cpus with a working rig, if compatible.

Well I initially followed another user's settings (the same one Tytanick keeps posting) for 6 gpus which was basically just update bios, enable 4g, and use integrated graphics.   That works... in general.   My problem doesn't seem to be an issue with booting 6 cards, but one specific card.   I really think that the problem was that I have a bad card.  Whenever that card is plugged in is when I get the errors, and not just when I plug it in as the 6th card.   If I use this card with 2 others, I get those ring errors.   If I don't use it, I can use 5 cards with no errors.    I mean, I can play with some other settings, just saying what I have tested.

7gpu in dual mining and with core above 1150? you can multiply 535-540 by about two i guess

i have 6x 480 downclocked and downvolted and it use about 1050w of the wall

I dont dual mine, at least not yet. ETH only for now.

So calculating the wattage based on every card's software-based consumption is so inaccurate?

I haven't got my KillAWatt yet, but I assumed that 200w for Risers, SSD, CPU/Mobo, plus whatever the software says + 10% would be at least in the ballpark. Well, not a real problem but, I do have to get my electric skills cleaned up.

Really, the only way you can measure a system is "at the wall"  by using a KillAWatt.    There is so much more that goes into it than what you see in a tool like GPU-Z.   Usually you will see 100-150W per card used, depending on the card and how much it is undervolted.  (Remember, it is also the power draw from the riser as well)  So yes, you will likely be at 1000W or so with a 7GPU 470 rig if you did some high end undervolting.

Now as far as your tweaking issues, one thing to keep in mind is that anything you can do in something like afterburner, you can also do on the card's bios itself.   So once you know each card's sweet spot, you can technically work some bios magic and have those as the default settings on the card itself.   Modding a bios is nowhere near as easy as the windows tools... windows is made to be easy!  It can be a pain, and you can also brick your card doing it, but the OS itself is more suited for a stand-alone mining operation.   So in the end, you can get those tasty hashrates you want, even with a mix-and-match setup, if you apply those settings in the bios itself.    I initially was using all of the OC settings in SmOS, but changed them all to bios-mods as I added more rigs.

Also, I'm having issues reading my bios backups on these cards (XFX RX 570 - Elpida) in Polaris.   In Polaris 1.4 the memory timings show odd numbers, and in Polaris 1.4.1 they don't show any memory timings at all.   Any thoughts?

The bios issue I resolved.   Turns out there was a different 1.4.1 fork that I found that showed both sets of timings for the 500 series.

Quick question.

I've never modded a bios on SmOS before.  Is it safe to do while mining?  (I normally don't on Standard windows/linux)

He re-upp'd them here: https://simplemining.net/download/

Awesome thanks!

I saw earlier you were not satisfied with the memory on your Asus(?) cards. If you're looking for any more, I'm having great results from my MSI Armor 570s. All of them so far have Hynix and can hash at 30mh/s.
Undecided those are nice rates - problem is my local Microcenter is sold out of all AMD cards and I had to buy what was available.

I've actually been tinkering with my settings, and have slowly been lowering the powerstage and raising memclocks.   All 6 of my 4GB Asus STRIX 470s say they have Hynix ram, but 5/6 of them are doing great (1970 mem) and one isnt as good (1920 mem).    So more speed and less watts overall.    Will try lowering the powerstage more later, but nice to see they can keep it going at lower powerstages.

Nice results on the 570s.  I'd love to get 30MH.  I'm stuck just under 28 myself.  What did you do to those MSIs to get 30MH? Are they 8GB or 4GB models?  Can't say I can complain about the ASUS cards too much since they were $120 each after rebate at microcenter.

Well not really.   Powerlevel 0 is a serious undervolt.

I'm only confused since On a 1150/1970 my asus 470 is only getting 27.85Mh.   Both clocks higher.. but then again I'm using the 1500 strap on hynix memory.    (Using claymore 8.1)

But 28Mh at powerlevel 0 is not shitty at all.   Great MH to power ratio.
I was unsure if powerlevel 0 was actually undervolting them successfully, but I assumed so as well so I figure that contributes.

Now these clocks and power levels will most likely not work for say ZCash or ZClassic.

It probably is.    I'm running at powerlevel 5 with 6 gpus, and it is 1000W at the wall for everything.   I could decrease that number if I played with it, but I really didn't take a lot of time to mess with timings once I got it stable on the first day.  I never even tried a lower powerlevel to see if it would work!

What claymore version are you using?

Uhh these are ASUS ROG RX 570's. Shitty, shitty memory. Only getting ~28MHs per card

Running at 1100/1900 at Powerlevel 0

With those setting you have to be pushing the hell out of that psu
I know 1k is the safe number for the power and it'll do over that but damn

Heya.   Been using your OS on a 6 GPU rig now for a while and it works great.   I tried to move an older 4 GPU rig over from Win 7 to SMoS, but GPU4 always goes to 0MH within a couple of minutes starting out.    Not sure if it is the motherboard or what, but I don't have any issues with it under windows at all.

My primary rig is was all at 1150/1940 for a while, and I've been slowly increasing memory clocks while testing stability with no problems.   But I'm using a PRO BTC board there.   I really liked your OS, so I tried to switch over my older rig also but had problems.

On my older Rig, I am using a Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 board, with 4 powered risers and 4 RX470s.    In windows, I run 2 cards at 1100/1920 and 2 at 1100/1950, both with -20mV under Trixx.    In SMoS, it won't set it to 1100 for the core properly, and I tried it on powerstages 5 and 6 but card 4 kept having problems.   I tried it at 1150 too, but no matter what I did, GPU4 kept going to 0MH no matter what I did with it.

All cards in both systems are ASUS STRIX RX 470 4GB cards.
