For those who got snapshop, did not export private key still keeping the old wallet how do they get the new relaunched noirshares?
It seems the wallet doesn't sync nowadays so can't export private key at this moment.

Introducing a JackpotCoin Slot Machine

It's not very easy to make provably fair online slot machine.
How can you believe that server side generated random number is true random?
Or, how can a client generate random number accepted by server eliminating a tiny possibility of hacking attempt?

I've come up with an idea.
1. No one can predict upcoming block hash.
2. Roll the slot. Server generates 4 random numbers between 0~15.
3. Wait for the next upcoming block hash.
4. Pick the last 4 digits of the block hash, which are supposed to be evenly distributed within the range of [0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,a,b,c,d,e,f].
5. Compare how many of them are matching.
6. Luckily JackpotCoin block generation is average 20 seconds. Don't have to wait for too long.

Pay table
The full award starts from 2,000,000 JPC.
When any player inserts a coin, it will be accumulated into the machine.
4 matches will take 100% of accumulated coins in the machine you are playing.
3 matches will take 5% of accumulated coins in the machine you are playing.
2 matches will take 0.5% of accumulated coins in the machine you are playing.
1 matches will take 0.1% of accumulated coins in the machine you are playing.
Whenever the accumulated coins fall below 2,000,000 JPC, the system will refill it to 2,000,000 JPC.
10% game fee.

For some, this could be felt a bit too slow.
Blue machines are fast, more intuitive and fair, but it's not provable.

Coins On Table
Rock Paper Scissors is a well-known game, no need to study its rule book.
You bet 1 LTC and play against another player. Neat!
Every new player initially receives 50 FUN. Play for FUN or learn how it goes.

Deposit/withdrawal
At the moment, I process deposit/withdrawal manually. Within 12 hours maximum but mostly within 30 minutes while I’m not in bed.

It is obvious to me that with the BTC China bank deposit re-acceptance news, people began to buy BTC at there.
Immediately, someone sold those exact amount just to keep the price stable. What a trade volume!
Being successful, people gave up making short profit. Significant volume down.
I call it price control... but who and why? when does this "project" finish?
The moment it finishes, price would start to move. I don't think it would be downward.

Very promising in terms of distribution oriented model. Many other crypto-currencies are said to not very well-distributed.

 - Not pre mined.
 - Pre announced.
 - Pushed by a well-known person BEFORE the launch.
 - CPU mine (if it turns out to be genuine fact after launching)

This combination have not been before as far as I know.
Distribution matters! This is going to be huge!

Did you see the charts from the last summer? Every altcoins made bigger growth than Bitcoin. Tell me if you find which altcoins did not.



I mean just over the past few days. say 1st Jan 2014~today.
LTC/BTC 0.031 -> 0.028
FST/BTC 0.000027 -> 0.000023
QRK/BTC 0.00014 -> 0.00010
ZET/BTc 0.000050 -> 0.000037
XPM pretty good though,
PPC, NMC very good... (I didn't buy at all, I didn't like 10 minutes block gen time...)
BTC is going up up same period.

My bad choices of coins?

Altcoins underperforming against BTC because...?

Over the past few months I've been trading at cryptsy with a simple strategy.
"BTC rising, altcoins rise higher against BTC. BTC dropping, altcoins drop deeper".
The idea was the volatility of BTC and how that might affect greedy/fearful investors.
People would cash out when BTC is dropping, by their fear. To do that, they need to convert altcoins to BTC, then cash out.
People would be greedy for altcoins when BTC is rising coz those look cheap and likely to outperform BTC.
Especially I traded LTC, XPM, QRK, FST, ZET, DGC.
LTC - Second best. The most reliable among alts.
XPM - 3rd trade key currency at cryptsy. The prime number idea might be mathematically great. Sunnyking might have had good reasons to create another coin.
QRK - MD5 looked secure when it first came out. Double-SHA256 looks secure nowadays, but it may look insecure later on. 9 rounds SHA3 could be spotlighted.
FST - The fastest. Some people don't want to wait at all.
ZET - don't know much, just the chart trend looked good.
DGC - the idea "40 seconds is the best" might be true. although I don't know much about it.
It worked. I was able to increase my total BTC amount just by scalping(couple of hours ~ weeks) altcoins.

But over the few days the principle seems to be broken. I want to find the reason here.
My guess is hedge fund is joining now, they're doing sth complex, too complex for me to understand somehow making changes.

How was my strategy? Why altcoins are underperforming now?

If I was to send myself payments to this address and in 5 years for example -- I would place wallet.dat back into another Bitcoin wallet, would it catch-up and find all the payments that were ever sent to that wallet?

Yes, it will catch up.

IMO,
5 years of time, the HDD or USB stick could be corrupted in hardware level. Low probability but could happen.
Preparing 2~3 USB sticks and storing identical wallet.dat file will be safer to keep it long. Also, check both USB's condition once a month, by mounting onto "linux or mac, offline computer" I wouldn't consider windows as a safe computer.

Lastly, if you encrypted wallet file, 5 years could be long enough time to forget your own password. There's no such thing as "reset password". Be very careful not to forget.

I appreciate the response. This pretty much answers my question. Yes, of course multiple immediate copies on multiple external storage. Perhaps even burning a copy of wallet.dat, a copy in .rar and .zip of the same file over multiple dvd copies would achieve the same purpose.

What about code changes or even "forking" as I have seen with some Alt-Coins. Does that not require some changes to the wallet.dat to remain valid?



DVD-R or CD-R would be a good idea because they are cheap and guaranteed read-only.

I strongly believe bitcoin-qt source code contributors would do their best not to compromise old version wallet...
With many years, attackers may find a security hole, then dev team may have to compromise old version wallet file format. This case will be a very big news and dev team would announce proper wallet upgrade guide... I can't imagine more details for now...

If any attacker can hack bitcoin(or blockchain) by completely dominating dev team, so quickly that lots of wallets could be already stolen, that will be the end of bitcoin. Even alt-coins will lose trust that case. That could boost physical precious metal.

It wasn't major when they were adding various "Other Bitcoin Links" (Largest Transactions, Bitcoin Nodes Globe... )
So I guess it is not just about querying realtime blockchain DB
It wasn't major when they were adding "Send via email or SMS" feature
It can't be anything requiring Bitcoin-Qt sourcecode changes.
It can't be free giveaway.

"Major" announcement... hmm...

Could be Litecoin wallet and litecoin blockchain.
I am not sure those bitcoin dev team are friendly to litecoin... are they?
If this is the case, it will affect litecoin price rising. Also, some expectation for other alt coins could be made.

Fiat-Bitcoin exchange is a major, or maybe way more than a major.

I think it will be multi language support. This is beneficial only for bitcoin. Chinese language is highly likely.

Sending an email mentioning your BTC address(the address in which you sent deposited to SatoshiDICE Tribute) will help.
In my case, it took 1 day to get reply and 2 more days to get refunded.
Now I assume they are not trying to rip off, they are just not very "experienced".

Actually I thank SatoshiDICE for curing my mild gamble addiction.
Bitcoin gamble is dangerous, because it is easy to access. Much easier than physically attending casino.
Further, there is no such thing as Self Exclusion Request here.
Luckily I met SatoshiDICE and learnt a lesson. The first impression of BTC gamble will now keep me out of it.
Thanks to those who are kind enough to share successful refund experience, now I think I will receive it some time, Although the waiting sucks.

Edit: Finally I've received the refund.
