Glad to see that the launch happened smoothly with no major problems. Smiley

Just a few questions though:

1.) I have a NEM private key and address. I looked up my address on the block explorer and all my coins seem to be there. Is there a timeframe in which I have to enter my private key into the client or can collect my real NEM a week/month/year from now? I assume it's the latter?

2.) Why does it say "Status: Locked"?

3.) Can I start forging without doing any transactions? Just the NEM sitting in my account from the genesis block? According to the block explorer, my importance score is 0.1%. Is this good?

4.) Is Poloniex the only exchange that NEM is currently trading on? I only bought 0.1 NEMstake which means I only have 225,000 coins and I'd like to bring this number up to 1,000,000 eventually.

Your private key just allows access to the account that holds the XEM from the NEMesis account. There is no timeline unless you consider the length of time NEM exists as one.

The status locked just means you are not harvesting on that account. You need 1000 XEM in vested balance to do so. And you have to initiate harvesting from within the account. If you do local harvesting it will be the account you are using, if you do delegated harvesting it will be the proxy account that you give your importance to.

You can start harvesting without doing any transactions. Just need the minimum on vested balance. Also your importance score can increase depending on the amount if transactions you do compared to everyone else I believe.

Poloniex is the only exchange at the moment. That will probably change shortly however.

when in the client, look to the top left where it shows your address.. does it still show "primary" below the address? if so click that address and a drop down should appear with a new address that does not say "primary". that should be the account you have nem in.

nope- it says 'primary' but when I click on that, the same appears below that: same account number with 'primary' in blue again ...

did you create a wallet with a password that was your private key? Or did you do the [Add Existing Account] from the drop-down cog and enter your private key in there?

I created a wallet with what should be my privkey- I wonder a bit about this 64digit hex- format...

wasn't the process like that in the testNEM I entered a random password and then in the testNEM went on 'create real account'

and got the acct number an the privkey there?!?! because I am sure that I never entered a privkey myself - except for the testNEM one...

uhhmmm...

Maybe I misunderstood you.

This is what I did for entering my private key.

1.) Create New Wallet
2.) After log-in to that wallet go to the drop-down arrow and click [Add an Existing Account]
3.) Enter the required info, "Account's Private Key", "Label", and the "Wallet's Password" then press [Add].
4.) It should load a new account that has your XEM within it. If not then click your address and see if it shows 2 Addresses. Your "Primary" one and the Address you created using your private key.

Just for reference my private key contained a bunch of numbers 0-9, and letters a-f

If you did the above and its not showing try see if you switched up private and public key maybe?

So I need to wait 1 day + 6 hour ??

From whenever you had the XEM sent to your account was when the "Vesting" period started. So that time minus 24 hours is the amount of time you have to wait for the 10% of total to show up.

Did the 6 hour stuff to be able to do start delegated harvesting and when I click I get error 700 need 1000 xem.
I have more than 20 000 xem

Any idea ??

Look at where under your "Current Balance" says something like "Vested Balance"

If your Vested Balance is less than 1000 NEM then you have to wait a day (where 10% of your total will be vested) to start harvesting.

I also posted this on the NEM forum.

I've tried twice to send XEM to Polo, but the transactions remain on pending and after one hour they time out.
What can I do about this?

I have the latest client (of course), blockchain is synched, my accounts are added correctly.

Did you do the Generate Message that is asked of you prior to the deposit? Its needed to identify your account so they know who is depositing.

wtf?!

you need to look at your "Vested Balance" which from that screenshot is 0.00 When your vested balance increases (after a day or so) to over the minimum amount required to harvest, you can start harvesting.

i want to start delegate harvesting and there was an error message " Maximum number of harvester allowed on this server has been reached"
So i can´t harvesting and generate blocks?

samething happened to me.

I closed the wallet and clicked 'Exited and Shutdown' on the NEM icon (w/ right click) in the taskbar [windows]. Then I opened Wallet again and viola.

but not for me...

I would just restart my computer.

Delete cache , restart computer, download and install NEM again , Maybe it's work.

sometimes reinstall JAVA8

or just make sure you didn't start any harvesting on any other wallet/account prior to it. Try stop it if not and see if it happens again.

is there a reward for harvesting blocks?

You get XEM if the blocks contained any transaction fees.

whats the link to report any bugs?

I'm guessing its the same place that was used to report bugs with the Alpha/Beta clients.

I had 2 250 000 something, now after syncing the blockchain, I have... 0 XEM!

What happened, what can I do?

What I did: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=654845.msg10946725#msg10946725

What is the Account ID? Does it look like there was a transaction out of your account?

Why have i had a transaction made of 6 XEM go out of my account?
I never sent any funds anywhere, it says its an importance transaction, is this think sort of automatic to increase your importance?
You activated delegated harvesting and confirmed to pay a fee of 6 XEM. MAYBE you should read, what you confirm.

I never confirmed to pay anything, i just clicked delegated harvesting and it told me it would take 6 hours, anyway what is the difference between delegated harvesting and local harvesting?

maybe this helps answer the question? Huh Found it on NEM's forums and you can disregard the multisig stuff unless its important to you. (replace "remote harvesting" and "secure harvesting" with "delegated harvesting")

https://forum.ournem.com/technical-discussion/remote-harvesting-2876/msg12704/#msg12704

Actually you could Smiley Initiating harvesting be it remote or local is NOT a transaction, it's simply passing
private key to nis server.

So rigel's right.

edit:

There are actually TWO differences.
1) In case of "secure harvesting" fees goes directly to associated account, if you'd like to use multisig account to do that, fees will go there (which is not that bad, as only cosignatory account has access there anyway).
2) In case of "secure harvesting", it's the MAIN account that holds the power and responds for PoI

So basically to summary:
harvesting works by passing (private) SECRET key, to the server
since we wanted to allow harvesting on remote nodes, we've introduced "secure harvesting" (remote harvesting)
secure harvesting works by issuing special transaction, that becomes part of the blockchain, in that transaction, there is information about "remote harvesting account", i.e. search for following transaction in nembex: 4c2a92c19a49914bda6239dcc94e81080fba7f7bdfffea0d42c88a70eefeec53, displayed "Remote PK" is a public key of harvester
secure harvesting works by passing private key of that account to some node, this private key is useless anyway
now, what rigel is suggesting is that, you could create multisig account, and use that account's private key, to do harvesting

From that I ended up getting
"local harvesting" = sending private key of [Account A ] to server.
"delegated harvesting" = sending private key [Account B ] to server.

The fee you explained is the result of the passing of the private key to the nis server. I'm guessing Tongue

did you set up "delegated harvesting"?

If you did that was what the transaction was for. Smiley

Still error 700 even if I have more than 10 000 XEM ?? Any idea?

I'm guessing you transferred your XEM to a new account and your "Vested Balance" is 0 or less than 10,000 XEM?

If so have to wait a few hours till your vested balance shows up.

In my simplistic mind. Just as an observer and crypto-fan  Tongue

With NEM:

Account [ A ] uses "Delegated Harvesting" to give Account [ B ] the "importance" of Account [ A ]. When Harvest a block Account [ A ] receives the amount.

With NXT:

Account [ A ] uses "Leased Forging" to give Account [ B ] the "importance" of Account [ A ]. When Harvest a block Account [ B ] receives the amount.

 Smiley

I could be entirely wrong though  Grin

got it thx.. so now that I imported that private key, it is no longer in any way associated with the old wallet? im afraid the old wallet might be compromised.

If you think something is compromised, I would suggest opening another account and sending all your XEM to the new address/private key... I've done it several times with my NXT when stuff got uncertain...

Im trying to send the XEM to new account but client says 'Your account does not have the right balance to make this transaction.'

make sure you are considering the fee requirement as well that is required to send a transaction.

The fact that address starts with NANEMO suggest that vanity gen was run to find it, doesn't it?

No, looks as a random set of letters to me.

While you are here, how is it possible to harvest with no coins on an account? Or maybe I incorrectly interpreted this picture:

Harvesting with no coins on your account. It's not a bug, it a feature!
Smiley

It's part of "delegated harvesting" that allows you to give the importance of one account to another account to secure and keep safe the original one. if you were to look up the account in the NEM client(and not nembex) it has no XEM because it is located on the original account that set up "delegated harvesting".

IMO, its like the leasing feature in NXT.

Ok,

So im trying to login to my wallet with a password I had saved via keepass 2 but it is not working..

I have my NEM address, public key, and private key stored.

How do I retrieve my account?

just open a new wallet and import private key

where is import private key?

Click on the gear (top left) and add existing account

got it thx.. so now that I imported that private key, it is no longer in any way associated with the old wallet? im afraid the old wallet might be compromised.

if anyone has access to your private key, they can use the private key to log into the account. If you set it up so it becomes a multisig account. They can't do anything other than view the transactions that happen within the account unless they have access to a majority of the co-signers.

If you don't want to worry about a multisig, send the XEM in the private key account to a new account and save somewhere the private key for that new account.
