In my case, I make sure that they can show an alpha product. One ICO I've been keeping an eye on is NeuronChain. I like the idea of their product that's already running on the mainnet. You can message them if you'd like to test it yourself. https://www.facebook.com/NeuronChain/

Re: If an ICO team is anonymous, is it a scam?

There might be a possibility that it really is a scam. But usually they're getting smarter as well as some of them build fake profiles just to fool investors into thinking that they indeed has a good public track record. It will always be better if they're active in social media and observe the community he's currently in to. It'll pretty much tell you if they're real or not. NeuronChain is one of the ICOs I've been following though. They fit my criteria when it comes to the team and the working product that's already on the mainnet. You can check their Facebook if you'd like to check it yourself: https://www.facebook.com/NeuronChain/

Personally, I'm keeping an eye out NeuronChain. Unlike other ICOs that only give promises with a whitepaper, they have developed their product first. Here's their website if you're interested, https://neuronchain.io/

A good sign that a project is great is by checking if they can show an alpha product. Try reviewing NeuronChain though! It has been around since 2016.
We're one of the few projects who developed our product first instead of just making a promise with just a whitepaper. Visit our website here: https://neuronchain.io/

I checked your website, how can I access your product?

I agree. Many ICOs are released that's why one must always be careful on where to trust. It all comes down to your thorough research. You shouldn't forget to check first the team behind the project and its whitepaper. It would be so much better too if they can show a working product for added assurance of the ICO's success.

A working product right away isn't always necessary though but I agree that it would definitely entice more investors if they can show at least a minimum viable product.

True. An ICO that has already a real-world implementation will last long. One should always consider checking if an ICO has a viable product.
Most ICOs doesn't have that though. They promise big but they can't show anything to support what they're claiming that's why I'm being careful on ICOs I'm choosing.
