Changing to 8b = controversial.
Sticking to 4b = not controversial.
We should avoid any possible controversial changes at this late stage. It's been well and truly ingrained into people that it is 1m nem per stake. Changes to that May just cause more controversail situations and unnecessary confusion. That is reason enough to stick with 4b. Also it's going to cause confusion for months after cos some people will still think it's 4b the same way that some still think nem is a clone. This stuff sticks..
Plus many many people won't know about the change, assume they got double by mistake
And could end up dumping the extra cos they think it's free profit..
Is that not a compelling reason to stick with 4?
Agreed, panic sell maybe will happen if we double the number, and under current bad market condition, one unexpected panic sell will be a great disaster to NEM development.Sticking to 4b = not controversial.

I personal dislike to double at this timing, if we want to please Asian people , we just need to adjust the 4 Billion to 3.99 Billion, there will be no "4" number again, and why I chose 3.99 billion,because 3.99 billion=21 million(Bitcoin number)*190.
And I don't think if we double the number to 8 biilion ,the market cap will increase, even you take Stella and ripple as a sample ,but our target should be bitcoin ,while bitcoin number is just 21 million, but its maker cap always No1 until now!

I found two wallets when I want to open my wallet: one is I created just now, but the another name is the name I used in the Alpha version. Is it OK?? or what's wrong with this situation?

I don't know how you managed to keep the alpha wallet as usually that should cause some trouble (like the client dying) but it doesn't matter for redemption if that's what your asking.
You're not supposed to use an address that the client creates for a new wallet / account. You're supposed to create a "real account" with the generator as shown in the screenshots.

we can vote ,but since the voters is so few, less than 50,compared to over 2 thousand stakeholders,so the final decision should be made by all developers, because the total supply number is key parameter for a new coin ,and developers must balance the pros and cons seriously.
Anyway,if stay unchanged( 3.99billion or 4 billion), I like to hold for long time ,if doubled, I like to sell half in short time.

3,999,.... or 3,,888,... to avoid 4 billion is just a trick of number.
They are (roughly/about) 4 billion if we round up.
The amount of NXT is 999,997,096. but people say/think NXT amount is 1 Billion.
Even NEM dev team said 4 billion NEM is determined by 4 times of 1 Billion NXT.
If we chose 3.99 billion, less 10 million than 4 billion, while 10 million will be current Bitcoin circulation，while NXT just less 3 thousand than 1 billion. So I don't think we can still call NEM issued 4 billion. Ten million difference should not be ignored. we will call the number 3.99 billion as 39亿(亿=1/10 billion) 9千万(千万=10 million) in China.Of course ,in west country ,3.99 billion maybe still regarded same as 4 billion. But our purpose is to happy asian people for this.So if 3.99billion can make it ,we will be OK.They are (roughly/about) 4 billion if we round up.

I come from China, I like to talk my thought about 4 Billion issue, in China statutory measurement units , we will call the 4 billion is 40 yi (yi pronunciation is E (in A B C D E), and 40 is not so bad as 4 in China culture.
But i don't know other Asia issue about 4 billion.

40 = 四十 [sìshí]
40 includes 4 in pronunciation.

The special serial no. banknote is expensive.
Solid number note(1111111, 2222222,.....9999999) is most expensive.

In Japan as well, death and the number 4 are both pronounced し (shi). The dislike is so great that the number 4's pronunciation changes to よん (yon) in most cases.
The dislike in Japan is not just from the similarity, but also from the 神道 (shinto) belief in 言霊 (kotodama). The idea that words and sounds have power and meaning in themselves. It is similar to Judaism/Christianity/etc that teaches that God created everything through the use of The Word.
