IMO the S1 should be around $100 us. Do not pay more for an older model. Get a good power supply for them and you should be ready to go.

Just download the compiled Windoze binary of CGMiner.

Get it from here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.msg357369#msg357369

Huh I do not see that one to download. Undecided

Its the one called cgminer-4.4.2-windows.7z

You find it after you click on the link under the heading of "All files available from here:"

Don't forget to download the Zadig utility for WinXP too.

I'll give that a try thanks

Still trying to find what version of cgminer will work with windows xp pro 32 bit  Huh
I have read that the newest version of cgminer may not work with xp pro but i am not sure.
cgminer works with xp anything. The only limitation is more than 8 identical devices without identifiers can't be run on XP cos it can't tell them apart. That's an XP operating system limitation though, not a cgminer one.

Great I only have four units. Still overwhelmed about the actual set up process.  Undecided

Go to this url ==> http://www.mingw.org/wiki/Getting_Started
Click the link that says "Download and run the latest mingw-get-inst version."
Download and run the latest file.
Install MinGW in the default directory.
(I downloaded the one labeled "mingw-get-inst-20120426" - note that this could
be a different version later.)
Make sure to check the option for "Download latest repository catalogs".
I selected all the check boxes (excluding "Fortran Compiler") so that everything
was installed.

**************************************************************************************
* Run the MSYS shell for the first time to create your user directory                *
**************************************************************************************
(Start Icon/keyboard key ==> All Programs ==> MinGW ==> MinGW Shell).
This will create your user directory for you.

I down loaded the latest one and followed the instructions above.
Now here do I find the MinGW shell to run Huh

I think I found it, just had to reread the instructions again.

Thanks for the info, BTC Guild and Slush seem to be fine but I am a little leery about Eligus and Bitminter.
I am still trying to figure out which version of CGMiner or BFGMiner will work with windows xp pro 32 bit??? Any clues?Huh

All versions should run on both 32bit and 64bit windows xp and above. As for pools id choose bitminter if your new and use there plug and play client. And over time change to diffrent pools and software. Best to get hardware mining asap every day lost is saying goodbye to a day of profit.

Thanks Grin So any version will run on windows xp pro? As for profit I will only have about 300 gh/s to play with once I figure out how to set up all my machines (Four in total) I just want to do it right and safely! Not to comfortable with computers let alone some thing like this mining project. But determined to learn how. Most have been very helpful so far. Cheesy I am sure to figure this out one day. Undecided

Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed 5-Chip USB, Blade & Black Miner Support/Tuning
by
wannaBaMiner
on 13/07/2014, 22:52:16 UTC
Dear Guys,
i have a problem with 2 modded blade from zoomhash/sevengnomes.
It works for 5 days, then the first stopped and the day after the second stopped too.
The fan doesn't work and i have only red light on ( no green light ).
I can see tha blade in Hashra dashboard, it appears to mine at correct speed but it doesn't mine any share.
I assume that is power related issues, i changed the PSU and cables without good results ( the same psu with same cables works perfectly on gridseed 5 chip).
Contacted sevengnomes and i'm still waiting a reply after 2 days.....
Any ideas on how to resolve?

thanks in advance

Marco

think you SOL on that one i dont think they warranty them other then DOA and now no warranty from gridseed

What SOL means ?

I asked to support , they tells me that they can repair it... I don't want to lose more and more days , I have a local engineer that can try to repair it if they tell me what i have to do... Still waiting..

SOL = Shit Out of Luck!!

Stumped? Win xp pro 32 bit for a windows build with MingW32
by

Have an old dell GX-240 with windows xp pro 32 bit on it. Have some ASIC hardware : Block erupter Cube, Avalon Mini and an Antminer S1.
I have no clue how to do an actual set up. To mine, No I do not want to CPU or GPU mine, just want the dell as a host if possible?
I believe cgminer will work, so I am trying a cgminer/windows build with mingw32 that I found here https://github.com/someone42/cgminer/blob/master/windows-build.txt .

 Install mingw32
**************************************************************************************
Go to this url ==> http://www.mingw.org/wiki/Getting_Started

**************************************************************************************
* Run the MSYS shell for the first time to create your user directory                *
**************************************************************************************
(Start Icon/keyboard key ==> All Programs ==> MinGW ==> MinGW Shell).
This will create your user directory for you.

I was able to follow these instructions up to here and I can not seem to find the MinGW Shell any where? Undecided

I think I found it. Just reread the instructions again.

Re: Is this site legit?

http://www.bitonsoccer.com/
Anyone ever try it? I wanna try it but I don't know if it's legit or not.
Thank you Cool

To find a site is legit or not, you can do some methods. You can check whois lookup for a domain name. Visit the site WhoisXY.com here you can check whois information for domain name. If the information is public and looks legit, you can note the email id, contact number of the domain name owner or administrative or technical department or else sale department. It will help you to contact them if you have any problem after using their services or buying their products. Then you can visit the site ScamAdviser.com check whether the site is trusted or not. If the result will "High Trust Rating. This Site Looks Safe To use." It is good site. Then you can visit Webutation.info here you can read users or customers reviews, ratings and feed backs about the site and their services. If they said good, you can start using the site.

I have used these site to check almost every site even before I visit them. Saved me from a lot of scams, rip offs ect...

Re: Keeping ASIC Miner(s) from Heating the Room?
by
wannaBaMiner
on 12/07/2014, 03:10:40 UTC
You can build a box around all the units. Usually out of some sort of foam insulation make a hole on the bottom front for fresh air. On the top of back make another hole for exhaust. Run some sort of flexible pipe out window. Problem solved.

Yes this is the super simple explanation but its enough to get you started in searching for the exact design you want. Most do include fans in the exhaust to pull the heat off the asics.

Steve

 - Just a note on the "foam insulation" remember you are working with heat. You may want to go with an inexpensive heat insulation and make like a shell be sure to put the tinfoil side facing in. Leave a few inches all the way around the actual unit or units, bottom can be left open, or build a stand and then you can use regular ridged styro-foam to build the enclosure, a little duck tape and some flexible dryer exhaust hose. Decorate your enclosure as you see fit. As Steve said "Problem solved."

still stuck at mining or no?

update us on where you are at.

Hate this newbie status. Yes still stuck not sure of which version of software would work with windows xp pro 32 bit. CGMiner or BFGMiner??

Before you can try to use the software you need to know if the OS recognized the hardware.  If the OS (win xp in this case) doesn't see the hardware the miner program is irrelevant.  You can also PM Ckolivas or Luke-jr and both of them would be happy to let you know if mining is possible in XP.

Thanks a bunch did PM both just a while ago. Now Wait for a reply and do more research on pools.
