Re: How safe is a flashdrive?
by
watermark
on 29/05/2017, 19:03:53 UTC
I have heard suggestions here to have an offline computer where keys are stored. Even transactions that need to be paid can be saved, entered into the offline computer, signed, and the confirmation transferred back to the flashdrive to be uploaded to the internet. But this requires a flashdrive to go back and forth. So how much does that compromise security?

If one only transmits specific files back and forth to the flashdrive, is it safe? Or is it possible for a program to install itself unknowingly on the flashdrive while in the internet-connected computer?

I've heard that flash drives may not hold data for more than a few years if they aren't plugged in to a computer over that period of time. To be safe, you may need to keep a paper backup of your keys.

I sold all my dogecoins for a profit at about 80 satoshi but I guess I should have held on to them a little longer.

Re: With BTC Problems, I would Like to Look at an EASY to use Alt

...

I am *completely new* to Altcoins, but am getting fed-up with the problems of Bitcoin confirmation times and high fees.  I am considering alternatives for some of my crypto holdings.

I saw no obvious thread for altcoin beginners here just now.

What "Alts" are reasonably easy to use yet fairly liquid (easy to buy, etc.)?

At this point, ease-of use is most important to me, if I go down "Alt Road", I may later want to look at features like better than BTC anonymity for example.

Thank you for any suggestions!   Smiley

I am investing in LTC now because it is so much cheaper than bitcoin and Etherium.  The transaction times seem quicker too.

I couldn't imagine the price will touch at $1,800 plus I was wrong with my speculation past few days .. that the price can be stay at $1,700.
Do you think guys the price of bitcoin today is overvalued?
Or this is just because the price was rise because of the good news about legalized bitcoin in japan country?

Is it possible that whales are pumping the price right now to keep it high and they will sell at some point?

Aside from Philippines and Japan, now Australia is following suit, that is to recognized bitcoin as currency. This is a good news, and it will propel the continue rise of bitcoin prices. Its good to all of us who has bitcoin but an expensive now to start to the new ones but we know, the target for this year they say is $4,000 and we are on the way to half of it.

All these positive news stories could be helping the bitcoin price stay high. There will eventually be some kind of bad news to make the price drop some.

I just wanna know if you guys are supertitious when playing or gambling?

I will admit I'm very supertitious when going to a land based casino. Grin
1. I choose the number of parking slot that I will park. Usually it should have my favorite number 111,777 etc.
2. I don't want to wait for someone if he or she is going to go with in the casino.
3. I wear the same shirt that I won big.

And a lot more..

How about you? are you sepertitious?  Smiley

I'm not superstitious at all but I do wear a red shirt every time I gamble and I always face to the west. It's not for superstitious reasons, I just think it gives me good luck.

Re: When to leave the game?

As you know that you need to stop and leave the game? How can you feel this moment. I almost always lose their money because they can't learn when to leave the game. I'm not sorry to lose. I have a lot of money not to lose, but I can't keep the winnings if I'm lucky.

For me the time to leave is when I've lost half of my bankroll. That's a signal that I've gone too far and at least I still have half of my money.

What is bitcoin for you? Is it a chance or a scheme to get rich? Or is it actually to keep your wealth to yourself.
What lead you into bitcoin world and what's keeping you here?

To me, bitcoin is an investment that I hope will grow so that I can become wealthy when I am older. I don't really use bitcoins right now for purchases.

It's possible but bitcoin has had such a huge increase since it began that it's hard to believe that it will keep growing at that pace for 12 more years.

It sounds like the US is meeting right now to discuss North Korea. Something is about to happen, maybe war or maybe a military build up.

Re: Trump has been a disappointment for Putin?
by

I agree. Of course Russia favoured Trump over Clinton, that was pretty obvious. However Russia didn't help Trump to win the elections, it was the US population that was tired of the same old politics and never being heared.

But yeah, I hink Putin now wished Clinton would have been president. At least he would know what her actions and responses would be, instead of Trump who is a lose missile that can either go left, right or straight through.
Predictability in politics is always a guarantee of stability and security. Even if the country aggressively, you always know what to do to not cross. In the case of c Trump it is impossible to predict his actions and it is bad not just for Putin.

The world government dictates the actions of Trump as it is beneficial to them, but for the rest it is unpredictable.
I don't believe in the existence of a world government. It may of course be a conspiracy among the largest financiers and Industrialists, but this is different. In fact, the logic in the actions of Trump exists. It just can be seen already after Trump anything made.

All politicians are pawns, only the one who understands that a real politician will not allow collapse of his country can see this. The economy has long ceased to exist. The richest people rule the world through politicians, so unpredictable actions can be expected from them.
Why do you think that if the world is ruled by rich people that in their actions there is no logic. If there is a logic, it is always possible to predict the further course of events. Putin also sees the logic. Just Putin can impose their own rules and that he is mad. This is a big blow to Putin's image inside Russia. In this world he has not the authority.

Putin is hungry for power. He wants to control more territory and was hoping that Trump would not challenge anything he does. The problem for Putin is that Trump can't control everything America does because Congress won't let him.

I'm also just getting into trading. We just have to get in at the right time and wait for a good gain to sell. Then we need to keep doping that for many years and we can see some profits.

That would probably make the price drop quite a bit because the supply would be greater than demand. It would be a good time to buy some.

One feature that I like is the ability to see all of my trading orders for a trading pair in the order of the price.  So if I have 5 sell orders for btc/eth, I like to see them in the order of sell price rather than the time the order was placed.

I expect Bitcoin to keep increasing in price over time. However, nobody really knows for sure so we need to be careful with how much we put into it.

Gambling is really not a business unless you are running the gambling site.  I wouldn't call it an investment since it is very high risk.  It can really only be considered to be a game unless you are so good at it that you know how to beat it.

Whatever coin you trade, buy on a dip. You also need to consider the fee and figure that in on the sell. Sell when you've made a little profit and wait for another dip.
