I have started working on a PoS wallet for Noblecoin. This is just the very beginning so please do not expect miracles anytime soon. Wink

However I would like to ask everyone on this thread what is your opinion on PoS parameters which should be chosen. Feel free to elaborate why you think those are best for us. Maybe someone did research into PoS parameters and would like to share results? I would love to hear that!

1. I think we should have very moderate to small inflation rate at PoS stage. No "High PoS".
With PoW, when calculated year-to-year starting from now (1.8 bln + another 2.6 bln in 365 days), the PoW inflation now is 144%.
For PoS, in my opinion maybe 5%-10% a year would be good. The highest PoS coins have seen a big hype (see HYP), but then the fall is very dramatic, because of the enormous supply.

2. I think we can make a transition to PoS at a "round number" like 2.0 or 2.1 bln NOBL (depending when will we manage to have a running PoS wallet)/

3. I think we should distribute new PoS NOBLes using the fairglu'd automated script method on some clone of 100% premined PoS coin.

4. IMO it would be good to divide the money units (coins) in circulation by 5 or 10 to avoid 1-digit satoshi price range (Ratio 5:1 or 10:1. In this scenario, 1 mln old NOBL would equal 200k or 100k of new PoS NOBL, distributed evenly to all existing addresses, redeemable at any time in the future from your old wallet.dat).

How would this distribution method work for the coins held by exchanges? I suppose they would need to know in advance to expect new coins and what the ratio would be.

So how exactly are BTC crowd funders going to be prioritised?

If they supported the BTC crowd fund with 5 BTC they have priority to be able to burn equivalent value of NOBL. Many however don't hold or wish to burn NOBL.

Could you please add this information and the other details we discussed to the main page of this thread? This is vital information and it may attract more buyers to BTC -> NOXT sale.

I would even consider lowering this requirement to e.g. 1 BTC. Most people do not have 5 BTC available, but 1 BTC is much easier to obtain.
We could assign up to 20-33% of NOBL -> NOXT portion for this purpose.

Regards,
myeagleflies

I think 5 BTC was just an example. I don't believe it is the minimum.

I would also like to nominate Rofo/Jason Curby, the dev and founder of Noblecoin. Even when given the opportunity to dump hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of Noblecoin, he continues to be honorable and stays true to the spirit of his coin. He is a fantastic dev and a wonderful person and deserves this recognition.

Yeah, and our discussion enters the area of question "do we need the law and law enforcement - police, courts etc. to prevent activities that harm other people?"

If such a marketplace will be decentralized/distributed AND anonymous, I find it very difficult even to moderate - how can you stop banned people from creating new, fake identities and continuing their plan?

Would a voting/rating/trust system be enough?
Other ideas?

IMO I think realistically it would need a group of mods. Anything that blatantly breaks the rules should be removed immediately, and items that are in a grey area should be voted against.
A big part of the reason that The Silk Road was so successful was the rules against scamming and the great customer service that came about because of that. http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2014-08/21/buying-drugs-on-the-dark-net

I'm back everyone Smiley Moved 7/31/2014 to my new home, didn't have internet for a week and a half, and then when I finally got my internet up my computer broke Sad $850 repair bill later and I'm back!

Thanks guys. We got a lot of things we're trying to work on moving forward, which is why we're beginning to scount for more paid development and team members longterm. It should all come hitting in one after another later in the year.

I really like the idea of teams and developers trusted and paid to work on their 'specialities' across multiple coins that offer something different.

Noble is getting a more and more growing company with own marketplace like amazon. and every nobleholder has its own shares Smiley

what about some ideas for promo?
a give away when PoS is available? or before the change? when people see that price is rising they are more likely to hold than when they see price is stable.
when they see price will rise and they can mine their own nobles in their wallet they will hold and love, I think Wink
If we accept more donations for a giveaway, we should consider accepting BTC which we would use to buy Noble giving us a bit of volume as well. Two birds with one stone.

Sorry I've been absent/silent. Been in the process to purchase a home for the last month and it's been sucking up all my free time.

One thing I'm worried about with POS - the "Unknown" miner.

He/She/They are consistently mining around 60% of the blocks. If there is a block every minute, and each block has 5,000 Noblecoin that equates to 4.3M coins per day. This person is obviously not dumping those coins, and at this rate it wouldn't be very hard for them to amass enough coins to easily buy their way to 51% once the PoS implementation has been completed. Honestly it would probably be much cheaper than funding all that hash power... I hope we don't try to avoid one problem to just jump into another.

After contacting Noblecoin developer Rofo, we decided to re-enable NOBLE payments with a 5% increment not to be affected by market fluctuation. As you know, Mintpal requires 999 confirmations for NOBLE due to attacks which affects us badly. In this period, we have the right to refund this 5% difference partially or fully to our customers. Alternatively, our customers may request full refund in 2 hours time if they are not satisfied with the exchange rate.

As for Noblecoin gold bars, we have been following the news closely and this will solely depend on the maintenance of the coin.
You can check our Blackcoin/Fluttercoin gold bar designs from our website and see our capabilities. We hope Noblecoin to survive against these attacks.
Thank you for your support, coaex!

Congratulations Rofo.

Also, if there is any NOBL holder in Rio de Janeiro, I will be there from June 20 to June 26. PM me if you wish to arrange an informal meeting.
Will we see you on tv if we're watching the world cup? Wink If so, maybe you should take a Noblecoin sign with ya!

can anyone shed light on this?

thanks...

So what has happened? ASICs have flooded our network? This would not be a 51% attack since it is on our blockchain correct? So that means that price should be following suit no?
I'm thinking the same. Last time during 51 attacks there wasn't any spikes in diff in our blockchain.
Somebody suddenly wants 100% of the mined coins or is just playing with our 1-block retarget?

Other ideas?

I'll remind you all of this comment.
I am mining Noble with 14Mhash (I know it's not enough), but have more asic hardware arriving early next month. I won't say exactly how much hash power I will have, but lets just say it should enough to slam the 51% attackers as long as my fellow miners keep their rigs mining too.

I never sell Noble and will do everything I can to support the network, just like I have since day 1.

IMO the fact that someone wants us dead, shows that some see us a genuine threat. If we are a threat but don't fold under the pressure, that puts us one step closer to guaranteed success!

Dig deep guys (pun intended). Rofo, has gone above and beyond to make things happen. Give what you can in return and mine the hell out of Noble!
If this is you, I'm jealous of your hash power Backlash! Wink

It is really weird to see coins being announced in June 2014 already being traded on exchanges. To name a few: DCM, X13C, BCAT, NUMC. Where are the days that devs needed to work to get on an exchange...

It's because the exchanges themselves are most likely releasing coins after coins in order to generate commission. Also some backhanders via premine helps.

if that is true:  DCM, X13C, BCAT => Bittrex and NUMC = SharexCoin. So if ttrue, we know what lies ahead now:)

it might behoove us to in some way be proactive in regards to this.

taking an active role in attempting to " police" ourselves ( the crypto community) and keep this burgeoning economy honest and forthright, will most likely bring some attention to us, some good ( from the community as well as regulatory entities), and some bad ( the crooked, corrupt, and opportunistic financial parasites that feed on decomposing whale feces), mainly the bad attention would be coming from the corrupt exchanges and other bad actors, that despise our very existance, in part because we, as a community, give the rest of the crypto economy a benchmark. a benchmark that puts on display the utter corruption within this new economy. a benchmark that shows the world what can be accomplished in this new realm of crypto currency if we act honestly and honorably.

there are many that would like nothing more that to see us fail... i for one refuse to give them that satisfaction.

I've been thinking lately that the community as a whole (crypto not just Noble) would really benefit from some kind of "Crypto Watchdog". I've considered starting up something on twitter, but I just don't have the time to investigate all the many scams out there. Could be a Noble related account, or not if we want to steer away from people blaming it for being biased.

NOBL is more or less disappointing, look at the Mintpal trading volume?!

Not everyone is concerned about super quick bucks in any way possible, some people believe in innovation, community and perseverence. Its the solid coins with honest and committed devs and community which will come out on top in the long run and not the latest flavour of the day being pumped on lies by some twitter noobs for quick £$!!

Thank you, good sir! It means a lot to me, so I wrote a little update about it Smiley

We managed to pass 5 PLN of donations, which means that the whole NobleCoin community has na invitation to the Wolimierz Station Smiley

More details in my post.
Thanks again!

Just sent a donation - come on people, we have only given a tiny donation so far, surely we can manage to give a lot more than 10,000 Noble for such a worthy project?

How about I make a donation from the community fund? Still around 400k left

That sounds like a good idea to me.

Just sent some Smiley

Every time I hear Hueristic wanting us to fork X11 or reduce supply I cringe, because while we may not agree with his position, it's something he genuinely wants and I can't offer it right now. Same thing when I think of the possibilities of using our original 'Noble savings' in a PoS system that many people want, especially in this environment when they're a hot spec. I'm frustrated because while it may not be the path we want to take, it's something that has a lot of potential and is very valuable....

I admire this coin and it's vision greatly and just want it to succeed and weather the scene as best it can. I have no serious investment in it other than time unlike many others. I would like to see a ASIC resistant algo (any really, not necessarily X-11) only for the coins protection. Creating cheap coins hurts those that are already in existence.

We disagree on this but I bow to your leadership as your commitment is beyond reproach. But I will still speak up when I think I can help as I feel vested in this coins success for some weird reason. I think I should not have mentioned where I thought the price should be currently and did not expect the drop to come so rapid but It will bounce back pretty quickly I think. Smiley
Just sent you a little something, so you're a bit more invested now Wink
