The action that happened last night on mintpal was very similar to other large pre-pump action.  There was a lot of downward pressure to bash the prices lower, get the panic sellers to let go, because larger forces are loading up at cheap prices for the first major PnD.  The last few days have just been the getting onto mintpal cryptsy boom.  There are some who see potential with this coin, and they're going to make it skyrocket before too long.  It's the same action if you take the time to study other charts and orderbooks that DRK and XC have had lately.  Given the traits VRC has, I can't see why it won't be equal to XC within the next week or two.  (Full disclosure, I do on some VRC).  I think a pump is coming, and I think it's going to be huge.  Just my opinion, do your own research.

I would also encourage information seekers to consider these two sources as well:

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/vertcoin-soaring-cryptocurrency-set-surpass-bitcoin-1435261

and the interview with the creator of Vertcoin:

Bit but by all means, if you need more clarification, or a statement those don't offer, help us to figure out what you need more than those.

God I wish I had a big pile of cash right now to buy cryptos--20%-50% return in a week or two?  Absurd buying opportunity out there right now.  The best times to buy are when there is panic over virtually nothing, with more good news that the voices in the room speaking are getting blown out.  Cause that good news is still there when the panic is revealed as overblown:

a couple new-as-yet-unnamed mining suppliers

both accepting VTC soon.

https://moolah.ch/ adding VTC

the news is all too good to worry about a security feature in a new technology that is already in the process of getting fixed.

tradeacoin, you're running 7 290x cards on only one rig?

thanks for the tip on memory speed.  Willing to share the overclock settings you're running, as well as the ThreadC, Intensity settings, etc.?  I have 2 290x cards running 462-3 myself.  I'm enjoying comparing settings to see how people are achieving what they're achieving.  I'm also very close to setting up a farm with 40+ 290x cards with a couple friends, so the more data the better for me.

Thanks in advance!

A Few Questions:

I've been mining only a little over two weeks now, and I had been using GUIminer on scrypt mining with a 290x Tri from Sapphire and an old sapphire 6850.  I got my hashrates to the range scrypt sites recommened, but a strange thing was happening--my 6850 was making more shares than my 290x.  I'm assuming after further reading this was due to HW errors, but in GUIminer i can't see those.

Enter me buying another 290x, removing the 6850, and setting everything accordingly in GUIminer (after replacing the cgminer it used for scrypt with the scrypt-N modded cgminer), my hashrates for my 290x cards were both sitting 462 each steadily.  I was happy with the hashing rates.  Last night was my first full night to let them run full speed.  The 290x which my monitors are plugged into, however, only put up about 70 shares the entire night, while the non-display 290x put up almost 700.  They were both hashing at 462kh/s.  both using the same settings: 970 core/1450mem OC.  I've got 12GB of memory on my rig so I don't believe it's the memory bottleneck many encounter, and I've got a 1000W powersupply, which for 2 290x cards should be fine.

Is the only likely cuprit HW errors?
thus i need to start using cgminer/cgwatcher directly so I can track that more easily?
in general, is more Khash/sec=more shares=more vertcoin?

And yeah, russian news are terrible. We can't withdraw RUB any more, personally I think there will be blood, we bought 15+ R9 290, now mining VTC, but there was a hope we can recoup this cards in 2-3 months, now I don't know what we will talk about on monday, probably we fucked ourselves up.

Just convert to another currency if you can, it'll be annoying, but find a way to convert to Euros, then a bank to take Euros or something.  It'll be super annoying, but it's not the end of the world.

Personally I think the Russian news is larger than the Mt. Gox news.  Mt. Gox exchange will just get absorbed somewhere else.  Yeah it's annoying to those with stuck funds, but they'll get them back.  On the newsfront for exchanges, the first major US based exchange rumors getting louder and louder, to me that easily equals the Mt. Gox news.  I can also tell you that from several friends in San Fran. the amount of interest in Crypto is beyond through the roof.  VC can't spend enough on crypto concepts and startups.  That train is already gaining momentum.

Russia is the bigger story in the short term, if you look at a few of those articles about the Russian decision, it mentioned various banks that had been extremely bullish on bitcoin and altcoins.  In all likelihood this means those banks were holding-- ALOT.  Chances are the larger banks got "nudged" a bit by this news and probably encouraged to unload and get back into Rubles.  It would not affect a retail investor, who will just sit in the anonymity of location-less-ness, but the banks can get their tail caught in the door easier than small time retailers, or clever money laundering types.  After the Russian banks move what they need to move, we'll bottom out and proceed again.  Nothing to worry about.

Also, jballs, great idea, there is another facebook trick I'd be happy to help with if you like to market this gorilla style.  hit me with a PM and we can talk about it, I've got some social media guru pals.

I'm all about Vertcoin since discovering it recently due to technical superiority, but we need marketing too to push this thing forward.  The path of technology is littered with many superior products that lost out to inferior tech. that had a bigger ad-budget.  We need to create a meme, and start a craze.  Doge 2.0, something, something...

Need more iterations on getting the word out and create a demand for vertcoin!
