yeah I heard it goes to 2 coins at 24 diff

Oh yeah this is gonna play out brilliantly. I don't see people wasting that much money on power to get this failcoin to a whopping 2x reward.

    int64 nSubsidy = ((1 + (diff / 24)) * COIN) / (1 + (nHeight / 194400));

from 0 to 24 diff its 1 coin, then 2 at 24. from then on however, its a linear scaling. at 48 its 3 and so on.

so til diff 24, starting at a low diff of 0.002 whateveritwas yes, it looks like an exponential drop in reward.

after 24 it's linear.

Anyone notice that the nSubsidy will NOT be halved after each 194400 blocks as claimed in the first page, according to the equation
int64 nSubsidy = ((1 + (diff / 24)) * COIN) / (1 + (nHeight / 194400));
?
nSubsidy will decrease linearly along time, NOT exponentially as claimed. So it will have huge inflation later on if Moore did the right math. Is that it?
If this coin is the one. We should mine it later not now right?
Correct me if I am wrong.

Difficulty 50: 3.08 coin reward for block ID 1
> 3.08 coins per person
Difficulty 100: 5.16 coin reward for block ID 1
> 2 people, 2.58 coins per person
Difficulty 500: 21.83 coin reward for block ID 1
> 10 people, 2.18 coins per person
> Without elasticity: 0.31 coins per person

I have proposed an idea very similar to yours at
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=197449.msg2054936#msg2054936
but I don't have time to implement it.

So I am very happy to see this difficulty-related-rewards type of coin coming out with your effort and time!

Here's my several concerns, would appreciate it if you could answer them:

1. Most importantly, if the rewards are not proportional to difficulty, its not real fairness. Someone could make a fairer one and attract people mining over there. In my opinion, coin reward for block ID 1 should be equal per person regardless of difficulty. The "halved every nine months" thing is enough to constrain the inflation. Actually the inflation is decreasing every year because the estimated coins generated per year is constant.

2. Could you give the function of coin rewards vs. difficulty?

3. Difficulty Retarget time?

Other: Moore's Law says the "hashrate" will double every 18 months. But no one knows the future and many other devices might be developed to support scrypt-algo. So I think the "halved every nine months" is reasonable.

Thanks and I hope this coin to be successful!

Elacoin is doing the reward increase/network hashrate thing

I know that. I am glad that someone implement it since I don't have time to do it. Smiley

What if the coin takes turns between optimizing for ASIC, GPU and CPU at different times during the day?

I don't quite understand your question. Do you mean later on people use ASIC to mine scypt-algo coin? The miner would still get the same proportion coins compared to the total coins mined at the moment.

2.   Coin rewards are proportional to difficulty. A 1000khash/s machine will generate 1 FairCoin/day approximately, no matter when you join.

Is basically not possible, sorry.

(No way to know your machine details, lots of ways to split up stronger machine into appearing as smaller ones etc.)

EDIT: Maybe you just mislead with that wording.

-MarkM-

Sorry I didn't make it clear. What I mean is that the coin in one block is proportional to difficulty but still in one block. It will be awarded to the people who mined it. The "1000khash/s=1 FairCoin/Day" is the average value, e.g. when joined a pool.

New coin FairCoin (FAC) Concept, needs ur opinion

Are you tired of so many new and pump&dump coins? Once a new coin comes out, people jumped in and then flee away when the difficulty increases. The author and the people mining in the first couple of hours or days gained huge profit which is not fair to others. That’s the problem for every kind of coin so far.

Here I would like to propose a new coin FairCoin without the “huge early adoption advantage”.  The basic idea is that:
1.   Base on Scrypt. (Maybe another one for SHA1 later)
2.   Coin rewards are proportional to difficulty. A 1000khash/s machine will generate 1 FairCoin/day approximately, no matter when you join.
3.   The reward/difficulty decreases linearly to fit the Moore's law. After 18 month, the ratio of reward/difficulty will be halved.
So, the annual FairCoin production rate would be almost constant.
4.   Annual coin production rate: 18 millioin
(estimated at 50Ghash/s network hashrate right now)
5.   Maximum coins available:  2 billion FairCoins
6.   Years to mine all the FairCoins: about 111 years.
7.   Retarget difficulty time: 1 day
8.   Block generation time: 1 minute

So what do you think? It is fair for most people to me. No one even the developer can take advantage of that. Leave me a comment. Any input is appreciated.
