Pointless. Bittrex is the reason that older alts (like BC) are no longer as strong as they used to be as they flood the market with new coins and icos. This is like shooting yourself in the foot from BC.

Not at all surprised.

STOP buying new shit coins, you (the users, along with Bittrex who hosts these multiple scams) are killing the market and encouraging more scammers. Why on earth did this coin even have 500 BTC volume after a day?

You fell victim to a scam. So you should not be repaid what you lost. You invested into something that fell apart. Bittrex has no control over what happens to the markets. I feel bad for all the victims but this has nothing to do with bittrex at all. No matter what you do to prevent a scam, people will come up with clever ways to scam people. It's not bittrex's fault you and everyone else invested into a sh!tcoin and lost money. Now you want to be repaid? Im sorry, I feel bad for you....But its not how life works. You shouldnt get to "roll" back everytime someone makes a bad decision. Get over it and stop investing in shitcoins to make a quick buck.

This is like saying raped women are deserve to be raped because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time..

No it is not. That is a horribly insensitive, untactful, and insulting comparison to make. One involves personal freedoms and the ability to go where ever one pleases to go. This incident on Bittrex is people going of their own volition for a profit scheme motive.

People have the right to go to most places with the expectation to be safe and secure. People do not have the right to gamble and expect a return. One is a right and the other is a privilege. Huge difference.
I agree that example was not really useful, but I think the full blame doesn't lie on the end user. Yes, they should be careful, do their own research, don't risk more than you can afford, whatever, but there also needs to be some professional responsibility from the exchanges, which I would say has not been shown up to now.

Stay away from any exchange which adds coins right after launch. Let's go back to trading the good old coins, they have a lot more to offer the market.

Just relying on adding new coins is continuing to hurt the market, and the reduced volume all around shows that. Bittrex will continue to lose volume because of this.

It is a dead issue now.  Investors are going to back away from the table.  We the miners are going to profit less.  People don't play the game if they are scared.  Investors must be scared at this point.  If I was an investor I would be scared.  We can't ask investors and traders to buy our coins if exchanges don't vet those coins.  They wont buy them guys.  You calling them stupid won't exactly change that fact either.

Exactly, investors will only invest in coins that have proven over a 6 month period or longer! No new coin will be bought.

I will dedicate all my free time for this. warning people not get scammed like me! And hoping that bittrex is stepping up and do the right thing, scanning the code!

Good luck warning people, you will get laughed out of threads, called  a troll and paid fudder, it's fun  Wink

the trolls will laugh indeed. Do i care..... people should not invest in new coins on bittrex, every investor that reads this message and is not going to invest at bittrex is win win
I've been preaching this in my thread over two weeks ago, and not many people listened back then, but looks like the number of people with the same thought process is growing finally.

From what I gather here...half of you want crypto to become a stock (essentially) and highly regulated and the other half are smart enough to not buy shit and blame someone else for it.
You mean the other half are happy to see Bittrex continue to add scam coins, hurt other innocent users and continue to support scam developers? There is no need for it to regulated if the exchange can take more professional responsibility.

It is not Bittrex's fault for trying to make the majority of the crypto community happy.  Bittrex's responsibility is an exchange, and IS NOT a code checker.
There is NO need to check the code. Just stop adding coins on the second day and give them a chance to prove themselves, that would weed out the scam developers. I wouldn't complain if there was 1 or 2 a month, but there's been too many to count recently, it's insane.

I could have got out @ 18k sats which I didn't. Greed took over. Honestly, shitcoins and fucked up devs happen everyday. For all u may know I might die on my next trip overseas because my plane went crashing.
It depends how long you have been trading here, there were barely any scam coins as little as 3-4 months ago, certainly nothing like today and it comes hand in hand with the rising volume of Bittrex it appears.

Looks like it was a scam out to get Bittrex if you ask me.

"EXCHANGES:
- We're looking to get on Bittrex once we launch! "

Maybe the people who are blaming Bittrex should be blaming their shady dev. Anyone willing to go along with this obviously lost money and is looking for someone to take down with them. You guys are just as pathetic as the dev.

Had to include a great post from the first page...

Bittrex is not the problem. YOU are the problem. Who ask you to buy elite ?

U lost money and u are angry ? Get over it, just like people who got BTC on gox.

If u loss money and start blaming, u should seriously get out of alt and hold your BTC.

Nobody force u to buy any coin. U buy it , u know the risk. If u loss money, don't blame others but yourself.
I do not blame Bittrex for losing money as I did not invest in the coin. However I blame them for the following:

* Taking no care in adding coins leading to support scam developers again and again
* Not really caring about it and acting like they have no professional responsibility, no plans to try and change the situation
* Hurting users and potentially driving them away from altcoin trading due to the risks of a coin being a scam
* Taking volume away from established coins by purely just relying on new coins for volume

It's sad to see how few people notice how damaging this is on the altcoin market, it's not by coincidence there is much less volume now than a few months ago.

IT IS ONLY YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK ABOUT A COIN YOU ARE BUYING.  YOU PEOPLE CRY SO FUCKING MUCH ABOUT SCAMS BUT REFUSE TO DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.  GROW UP.

And Bittrex has no responsibility to do the same thing?  It's a two-way street.  It should fall on Bittrex more, since not everyone is capable of translating code.

no, they don't to be honest.

if you buy a GPU from newegg.com and it doesn't work on your computer do you email newegg and demand your money back?

IT IS ONLY YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK ABOUT A COIN YOU ARE BUYING.  YOU PEOPLE CRY SO FUCKING MUCH ABOUT SCAMS BUT REFUSE TO DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.  GROW UP.

douche u have an icebergcoin sig file.  Grin

its your responsibility to become a better person. get to work on it.

Does you calling me a douche mean that you bougth ICB when it was above its ICO price?  Once again, you made the mistake of thinking that was a good idea.

I'm in shock that because you can't spot scams therefore that makes me a bad person.  And by the way, im just lazy and didn't remove the signature.  So thanks.

dummy, newegg has a return policy.

http://www.newegg.com/HelpInfo/ReturnPolicy.aspx

of course people return defective items.

please just move on to another thread where you may understand the issues.

You said defective.  That isn't the same thing moron.  I said if you buy a card THAT DOESN'T WORK ON YOUR SYSTEM.  As in you buy an AMD for a nvidia computer.  Wow, dude...wow.

Poor poor example. You could even say the coin went defective.

Also they charge you a fee to trade. Simply no attempt at professional responsibility.

Yet another scam coin... It's getting ridiculous, why are they still giving a chance to these scam developers? Take a little more care in what is added.

wow... if you want government regulation, rules, laws, go play in the real stockmarket guys. You'll lose your money just the same.

Sigh, the way bittrex are going, it's going to be needed sooner than later.

These amount of scams did not exist even 3 months ago, and bittrex showing no signs of slowing down adding them.

I have two examples for comparison....

1.  You gamble at a casino, however 50% of the machines you use at the casino are rigged to take your money 100% of the time.  DO you still use that casino when they add new slot machines, or even at all?

2.  Your work for an employer, however some of the jobs you go on, are invalid, and dont pay you.  Do you still work for that company?

Its the same thing, yes there should be a level of personal responsibility, and there absolutely needs to be a level of professional responsibility.

I've lost nothing, zero, zip, nada..... and I still feel this way.  It's not right, and anyone who defends Bittrex is comfortable taking money out of these scams and probably should not be trusted in one way or another.

I was in their IRC yesterday and they acted like they didn't even care. It was sort of like 'oh well. another scam, what can we do?'

No attempt to even think about how they can stop this from continuing to happen.

Too many people supporting them doing this shady practice...

Its definitely not bittrexs fault

But bittrex does favor the scammers more than they do the average traders
I think its partly their fault for listing the scam coins, partly the users that buy them and partly the users that still support them while they continue to do this.

I really hate the people who say its up to the user to do their research. Why are we relying on these people who are buying these scam coins anyway? The problem can be stopped at the source. It's fine if one coin out of a large number turns out to be bad as it's hard to spot that, but I think maybe 3 of the last 5 coins Bittrex have added have been thought to be scams?

If we let it continue as it is, more and more users will leave the market and altcoin trading slowly dies.
