I'm talking about a real bank that can store both USD and BTC.

MtGox would be perfect..............IF it allowed person to person and person to other financial institution money and btc transfers.

The financial institutions are intensively regulated. Does mtgox have a team of lawyers to help them to be a REAL BANK? thank you.

I think you should be clear: using/possessing bitcoin right now is not a legal grey area, it is very clearly legal.

not necessarily true for merchants.

It's 100% true for merchants. Only it's troublesome with IRS report.

It would make sense if the rest of the world jumps on board, I think Google will be focused on making Google Checkout kick PayPal's ass before they endorse Bitcoins.

But I hope I'm wrong.  But I'm not Sad

Google will kick Paypal's ass by endorsing bitcoins.

Gmail was in "beta" for a very long time while millions of people were using it.

Well, Beta Gmail don't need you to understand how to find a %APPDATA%/bitcoin file folder on your hard disk.

bitcoin is a money with limited supply of 21 millions until 2140
lots of merchants started to accept the bitcoin online and some restaurants accept it, too. The price of bitcoin has appreciated a lot again us dollar.
As the fiat money can be printed as much as government  want, the number of people who dislike inflation and adopt bitcoin is increasing very fast

The slogan is too long and too complicated. I suggest a shorter one:

Just a quick question: is this just for mainline client dev, or are we alternative developers allowed to ask questions too? Cheesy
"I'm writing an alternative client that doesn't store private keys at all (they are generated from the user's password). But I'll need a bitcoin protocol message that does XYZ to make it work; are other clients willing to support that new message?"

This is fantastic.

Re: A Simple Wallet Solution For iPhone

it seems that the instawallet.com has been being mentioned on this forum a lot.

Could anyone tell me that is it trustworthy? why? Has any cheating been report on this forum?

I personally willing to be charged by some honesty bitcoin online wallet service provider, if the fee rate is about 0.05% per year or something like that, and they can charge per transaction about 0.01% per transaction. If 10% of the bitcoin were deposit on the service provider, that will be about 100m*10%*0.05%=5000 USD revenue per year for depositing, and tens of thousands USD per year for transaction. And the revenue will go up and as the price of bitcoin went up.

But guarantee for the safety and honesty is extremely important.

Please do remember, find a easy folder to save the wallet file that the user need to back up.

Don't put it at %APPDATA%/bitcoin anymore. For geeky it's easy, but for average users  it's difficult!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suggest to let the user chose where to put the wallet file, and the software just recommand some simple folder, like D:/bitcoinwallet/ and in this folder, don't put those rubbish file in it, just the wallet!!!please!

Government isnt a threat to bitcoin - bitcoin is a threat to government.

One would hope. It needs a lot of work.

well, if bitcoin define itself a threat to the government, you will see how much resources the government have as they can just ignore something else temporarily  as it was said in the post.

Re: How will/could Mt.Gox's "decentralized exchange" work?
by

Maybe they will develop some exchange members, and the exchange members all run their own exchanges, nonetheless, the members can trade with each other at very low cost under an established exchange protocols. In such circumstances, any bitcoin trader have a market depth not on only one exchange, but on all exchanges over the world.

But this mechanism will have lots of legal issues and financial risk issues to get over. Good luck you guys and wish you a great success in such a great innovation!

One nitpicky recommendation - the sound quality in the video isn't great. Not sure if it can be easily remastered?

unfortunately we're stuck with the poor audio quality on this one.  Maybe when we make it big we can rent time in a real studio  Grin

For a start-up, I think it's already very very cool audio, it's enough for attracting early users, but better one is need for earning average merchants' trust.

This is great. I'm not a IT developer but a financial analyst, but I just know this idea is what bitcoin need to ease the difficulty for the merchants to adopt bitcoin as a mean of exchange value.

I have a small tip for you, if you don't mind. You can talk to mtgox, campbx and other exchanges, and ask for a premium commission rate for you.

P.S
If I were a merchant and sold something with a 20% gross margin, I would like you to convert 80% of the BTC I got into USD and keep 20% of them as bitcoin. So why not offer the choice to your client? If only black or white choice, as a merchant, they will get running-out-of-working-capital problem if keep all the money in the bitcoin they get paid.

If you offer the partially-exchange offer to the merchants, it will easily get them to keep some of them. later, They will spend more time to know about bitcoin and may try to use bitcoin themselves. This will make it a more widely accepted currency.

In 2006-2007, E-gold was after by Chinese gov. as some bad guy developed ponzi schemes, named E-gold-invest. This ponzi scheme get hundreds of thousands people lost money.

Yes, you're all smart guys, who can distinguish between E-gold and E-gold-invest, Bitcoin/Bitcoin-ponzi-game/flexcoin,

However, I assure you that these ponzi stuff will do harm to bitcoin, just as E-gold-invest do harm to E-gold.
